That’s a good enough sign for us that the world can hold off from ending until Summer 2013 or just never.
Adult Swim Gives Both Children’s Hospital & NTSF:SD:SUV Another Season
That’s a good enough sign for us that the world can hold off from ending until Summer 2013 or just never.
There was a time and place (the 80s) when David Letterman was on later in the evening/early morning and he was a lot more like Conan O’Brien willing to let things play out. Specifically, comedic actor and voice over talent James Urbaniak interrupted Letterman whilst Letterman was stumbling over a joke to fix it and, lo and behold, Letterman did. Watch the story animated and told here as part of Vulture and UCB’s web series collaboration in Pop Culture Memory Lane.
The latest episode of the fantastic behind the curtain, off the stage, off mic comedy web series, Modern Comedian, by Scott Moran, follows the one and only Todd Glass throwing a party at his house, which is more engaging (and uplifting) than pretty much any other reality tv show based around the lives of interesting people. In the nearly 20 min. episode, Glass takes us through party prep, the actual party, and several comedic bits run through with Rory Scovel and other guests.
Just like comedy clubs should follow Todd’s advice for how to set up a showroom, people should follow Todd Glass’ advice on how to a throw party, mandatory blue blazers included.
Tig Notaro’s upcoming release Tig Notaro Live on Fri. Oct. 5th will be even more joyous with this news.

Within the Los Angeles comedy scene, Lost Moon Radio has defied description as to what they are exactly other than fantastic and very funny with their live music intwined sketch comedy ensemble. Now, their magic is finally caught on a podcast and, hopefully, people around the world can get to experience around LA every few months.
The first episode is up, so listen now.
Win a Walk On Role on Arrested Development
We bet that you’ll probably be featured in such roles as “Walk On 1” and “Walk On 2” as announced by Ron Howard.
As the premiere of Comedy Central’s stand-up and sketch hybrid Mash-Up hosted by TJ Miller and created by Jordan Vogt-Roberts approaches (Oct. 9th 12:30AM), there are now more clips posted to see how the “mash-up” happens. Finally, we get to see the story of Hannibal Buress’ Montreal jaywalking ticket reenacted and more.

Several of LA’s funniest up and coming comedians got together and wrote chapters of a book in support of KidSave, a charity that supports orphans and foster kids, called Exquisite Corpse. Contributors include names you hopefully do know or will know because they are so funny: Aparna Nancherla, Beth Stelling, Claudia Cogan, Dave Ross, DC Pierson, Ron Babcock, Yassir Lester, and many more. Edited by Brock Wilbur & Sofiya Alexandra along with illustrations by Brandon Vaughn, the book will be gone at midnight on Halloween, so read something funny and support kids before the 31st.
Here’s another round of long reads or not-so long reads that are comedy, pertaining comedy, etc. that we urge you to read. There’s who to know in NYC comedy, a comedian dealing with cancer who is not Tig Notaro, as well as some fun competitive erotic fan fiction to read up on and enjoy.

Thanks NBC For Buying Relationship Comedy From Tommy Johnagin Because That’s Something We’ll Watch
We love Tommy Johnagin and his material on relationships. Not sure what we’re talking about? Check out him kill it with aforementioned relationship material on his latest Letterman set, then be glad that he’s getting a pilot deal.
Before tomorrow’s Rumble 2012 debate between Jon Stewart and Bill O’Reilly, there was a weigh-in exchange of sorts like boxers often have last night on The Daily Show. Though no blows were physically exchanged, it was the high brow display of wits that wouldn’t be live-mocked on Twitter.
Still on their run of the late night circuit for their latest album Rize of the Fenix, Jack Black and Kyle Gass AKA Tenacious D meant business on their appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night. And by business, we mean intense stares and messing up furniture.

You don’t have to wait until Oct. 16th to purchase albums from two very funny comedians that people should know, Beth Stelling and Ryan Singer. Stelling’s Sweet Beth and Singer’s Comedy Wonder Town are available for pre-order now from Rooftop Comedy and Stand Up Records respectively. Not that spending dough on these will cut into your Halloween costume budget, but, if it does, you could use items around your house. You’ll save money and probably be enjoying both of these records while doing so.
Vote to See The Bitter Buddha w/Eddie Pepitone at Arclight
If you haven’t gotten a chance to see the wonderful documentary of the hysterical and groundbreaking comedian Eddie Pepitone by Steven Feinartz, The Bitter Buddha, you should as soon as possible. Voting it into (up until Oct. 14th) The 2nd Annual Arclight Documentary Film Festival that screens at Arclight Cinemas is a great chance to do exactly that.
UK comedian Simon Amstell is fast making his way in the States with his very personable, though dry and dark-ish/existential humor. His stand-up special Do Nothing is premiering tonight, appropriately, on BBC America at 11PM. If you want a little of a preview, watch him be funny on The View as his first American TV appearance.

So, it probably won’t be anything like Project X the movie. In fact, as Thing X is being put on by many former Onion writers (Joe Randazzo and co.), we’d say that this is something you should watch for when it officially launches on Oct. 16th. Watch this intro video and meet their lovely and hilarious staff.
We write so much about comedy here at The Comedy Bureau that we didn’t want to talk about it for hours and hours on a podcast and then ask people to listen to it. Rather than that, we’d rather riff with comedians in public places for an hour, often around live shows, as that’s where some of the best comedy that not many people get to witness comes from. Hosted by our Bureau Director (and more) Jake Kroeger and good friend of The Comedy Bureau and friendly antithesis of Jake, Jeremy Paul, the This Better Be Funny podcast is coming up on almost a year of loitering while recording anywhere from a Denny’s to a parking lot to an alley to the front of many closed businesses.
Also, there’s plenty of homeless people, comedians that weren’t supposed to be in on the podcast though we were glad that they were, comedians that just weren’t supposed to be in on the podcast, and drunk girls pissing on the car we were recording in. The episode coming up this Monday is with Sean O’Connor just outside of The Palace Restaurant right after a show and both Howard Kremer and Zach Sherwin as well Ms. Podcast herself Katie Levine (Podcast Network Producer at Nerdist Industries), which made for one hell of a great hour of standing on the sidewalk past closing time.
Until then, here are some of the best episodes of This Better Be Funny that will hopefully get you into this show…
Ep. 17 with Andy Peters-best worst movie pitches
Ep. 37 with The Walsh Brothers-apparently, most things in Boston gets stolen
Ep. 38 with Jackie Kashian-interrupted by fan of Jackie’s in front of a church while shouting obscenities
Ep. 42 with Dave Ross-Dave’s taken aback by Jeremy’s sex life/drive/everything
Ep. 24 with Jerrod Carmichael-Jerrod has to sing Mystery of Iniquity in its entirety if he hears it
Ep. 27 with Nick Turner-there’s an incorrectly measured 40 yard dash (don’t worry, it’s well narrated)
Ep. 19 with Sean Patton and Dave Stone-knife fights, van living, and the importance of names all discussed in an alley; typical episode.
Ep. 11 with Candice Thompson-stripper DNA is discussed in an intellectual manner
Ep. 13 with Jake Weisman-As Weisman is defending women as the better gender, two drunk girls piss on his car in which we were recording in.

One of our absolute favorite comedians Sean Patton right now is close to releasing his first comedy album entitled Standard Operating Procedure. Whether you like comedy that’s derived from pain and truth in life that’s intensely personal or long form jokes that are far beyond set-up punch or not, Sean Patton, in our minds, will convince you that it’s all hilarious and unforgettable. Here’s his Conan set to prove it.
Now go and pre-order Standard Operating Procedure from AST Records to get it on Oct. 16th and not a moment later because we were there for the taping of it at the Nerdist Showroom and it was “can’t wait for everyone to hear this” good.
