The Dress Up Gang’s TBS Series Will Finally Be Released Via TBS app/VOD

It’s finally happening. The absolutely deserving Dress Up Gang are finally get their day to properly release the series that they made for TBS that was shelved indefinitely. There were multiple attempts to show/screen the series over the course of several months, which always received such a warm reception and yet, was ultimately shut down from a wider distribution.

Thankfully, in this time when networks are trying to snatch up/make any content that they can, it indeed ended up being a perfect time for TBS to un-shelve such a hysterical show. Announced last night, Dress Up Gang’s Donny Divanian tweeted that TBS brass have opted to release the series via TBS app and VOD starting this very Friday.

Again, we’d like to reiterate that The Dress Up Gang managed to be more about nothing than Seinfeld and yet, be cleverly upbeat and so damn funny. It’s definitely worth your time to binge watch this weekend.

So excited to share that our show The Dress Up Gang will be released this Friday, May 1st on the TBS app and VOD! First ep will be available to anyone. Here’s a trailer for the episode Finding Frankie pic.twitter.com/G7tqQdq2c4

Please Enjoy The Dress Up Gang’s “Cute House” (Also, Now Would Be a Really Great Time to Release Their TBS Series)

This recently released short “Cute House” from The Dress Up Gang is not only a very, very welcome respite from everything else that’s going on, but it’s hilarious display of their quiet, offbeat brilliance, especially when it comes to picking apart the traditional idea of masculinity.
The Dress Up Gang, a personal favorite of ours when it comes to sketch groups, had a TV show fully ready to go at TBS, then got shelved unexpectedly. Efforts to release it themselves fell short unfortunately. The world is binge watching TV at an unprecedented pace right now and, as such, having new shows and content to show is becoming more crucial to keep people from going stir-crazy while locked down at home. So, it would only stand to reason that this would be a really great time for TBS to un-shelve their entire TV show for all of us to see.
We definitely think it’s in the general public’s interest, whether a pandemic is happening or not to be quite honest, to see more stuff like this on TV.

Please Enjoy This Latest Short from The Dress Up Gang “A Day with Demorge”

Not only is this a marvelous short from  The Dress Up Gang (NOTE: TBS continues to keep their show on their shelf even though this is an even better time to put their entire brilliant series out on some sort platform) starring DeMorge Brown that is so playfully strange and offbeat, but it has absolutely nothing to do with COVID-19.

Enjoy 5 minutes and then some of DeMorge being an absolute joy and The Dress Up Gang nailing the weird minutia of daily life with A Day with DeMorge here.

Please Watch The Dress Up Gang, One of the Best TV Shows That Was Set to Air and Then Was Shelved Indefinitely (Until Now)

Thank goodness, The Dress Up Gang, the TV show, will actually see the light of day.

To call the prospect of making a television “daunting” is a vast understatement. The fact that any TV show gets made and then makes it to air is nothing short of a miracle. The development process, often and aptly referred to “development hell’ is where so many scripts and pilots stay put and never progress. Past that, the odds of getting a pilot shot for a TV network are so minuscule and then, getting an actual premiere date and air time is a whole other level of rarefied air.

After all of that, one would hope that their show is received well, which often isn’t the case.

Knowing all of that, sketch group The Dress Up Gang not only jumped through all of those hopes, defying the odds at every turn to bring their absurdist, nuanced, low key, yet very silly humor into a full-fledged TV, but they had an entire season shot, edited, and in the can, ready to go, ready to premiere at TBS. Unfortunately, there was a change in network brass and that sort of transition can get quite territorial resulting in an unfair and unnecessary pulling of the plug on a truly great series like The Dress Up Gang.

Fortunately, we got to a super secret special sneak peek a couple years ago and Cory Loykasek, Frankie Quinones, and Donny Divanian along with DeMorge Brown, Kirk Fox, Christian DuGuay, Brent Weinbach, Kevin Camia, Chase Bernstein, and Andie MacDowell made one of the most uniquely funny comedies we’ve seen in quite some time with the TV series. In so many ways, The Dress Up Gang is more “about nothing” than Seinfeld and yet, takes bigger comedic risks always pay off for them. Everyone seems to be on the same subtle, yet offbeat wavelength in their own individual way and it’s such a damn delight.

The fate of The Dress Up Gang, for awhile, seemed, unsure at best. Yet, the will of the show and its creators seem to deem that it needs to be seen.

So, now you can (and very, very, very much should) watch the episodes of The Dress Up Gang ASAP. Do so at http://thedressupgang.com/.

One of the more exciting things, for us (and hopefully for you), coming to TBS soon is the new eponymous TV series from The Dress Up Gang.

If you’re a long time fan, this teaser for the TBS series is the newest bit of Dress Up Gang that has been dropped in quite some time. If you’re new to them, please enjoy this little morsel that captures what they do pretty well.

In either case, it’s pretty swell to see TBS is continuing to put money down on their off-kilter brand of comedy.

By The Way, The Dress Up Gang (Robb Boardman, Donny Divanian, Cory Loykasek) Are Going to Make My Roommate, My Friend Into a Series on TBS

In the flurry of upfronts, we missed the mention of how the much beloved Dress Up Gang will be adapting their cult hit web series My Roommate, My Friend into a full fledged TV show at TBS. The show focuses on a subtle, yet slight absurd relationship between two roommates that is simultaneously two friends living together and something like a legal guardian taking care of a child.

The TV adaptation of the web series is currently untitled, but it very much follows the premise of the original.

They actually took down all the episodes from various sources online. So, until the show hits the air, you’ll have to had been lucky enough to catch them in years past to really see what we’re talking about.

Hopefully, the premiere will be very soon.
