Andrea Savage’s “I’m Sorry” Trailer Promises Latest Sitcom Based on a Life in Comedy That You Should Watch

June 29, 2017

Louie, Better Things, Master of None, Lopez, I’m Dying Up Here, and Dice are just a few sitcoms in recent memory that follow the lives and times of various real people (or reasonable facsimiles of real people) in and around comedy.

Andrea Savage’s I’m Sorry coming to TruTV on July 12th at 10PM will be the latest to join that subgenre and, from the trailer, it looks like it’ll be able to hold its own.

See for yourself here.

Now that we’re in a world where everything seems to get ruined every day, it’s a perfect time for Adam Conover to come back and thrive in his element.

So, in a couple of weeks, Adam will get back to work in season 2 of Adam Ruins Everything by ruining the ever diminishing amount of things that we, society at large, take for granted.

Get a taste of that here, then look for the season premiere on Tuesday, July 11th on TruTV.

Get a First Look at “Bobcat Goldthwait’s Misfits & Monsters” Where Bobcat Is Thankfully Back in the Auteur Seat

Auteurs in comedy are rare, but when they come around, they are quite something to behold. The films of Bobcat Goldthwait gives society at large a simultaneously unflinching and often hysterical look into the mirror.

His brand new show, Bobcat Goldthwait’s Misfits & Monsters, that will be arriving at TruTV early next year, will bring us all new sorts of genre-bending satire from Goldthwait himself in the form on an anthology series.

You can see what we’re talking about in this creepy, yet funny clip from one of those stories, Bubba The Bear.

TruTV Is Developing Projects from Liza Treyger, Austin Martinez, Rose Schlossberg, The Kloons, and Michael Torpey

In the whirlwind of upfronts these last several days, there are some things that we’d like to mention now as we didn’t get around to them right when they were announced.

In addition to TruTV’s current solid slate full of returning series like Adam Ruins Everything and Those Who Can’t as well as the upcoming new show Bobcat Goldthwait’s Misfits & Monsters, they’ve got plenty in development to be excited about

Specifically:
-a Liza Treyger sitcom pilot
-a musically inclined sketch comedy pilot from Molly Austin and Shamikah Martinez AKA Austin Martinez (the comedy duo featured in Rachel Dratch’s Late Night Snack)
-a how to apocalypse survival guide comedy pilot End Times Girls Club from Rose Schlossberg
-presentation of a fake ad competition from The Kloons
-presentation of a game show that challenges what people studied in college in order to pay of their student debt from Michael Torpey

It’s almost like that time where TruTV almost exclusively made reality TV was long, long ago.

The Chris Gethard Show Moves to TruTV and Will Go Back to Broadcasting Completely Live

While Ryan Seacrest will join Kelly Ripa in greeting America in the morning despite Chris Gethard’s very earnest pleas for that gig, Chris Gethard and gang will be returning for a nice, big new season at a new network.

After spending some time at Fusion, TCGS will now move on to TruTV (honestly, it’s a better fit) for 16 episodes.

Best of all, Gethard will get to do what made TCGS great by broadcasting the show live. It’s not “live to tape” like so many live TV shows. It will be aired as it’s happening and few in the world are as great as handling that controlled chaos as well as Chris Gethard.

Look for the new season The Chris Gethard Show at TruTV in August.

Talk Show the Game Show is bringing talk show games to a whole other level as evidenced by these clips of Maria Bamford having to use her voice talents to bring pictures of realtors to life and James Adomian going head-to-head with Guy Branum in an arm wrestling match (with a spectacular finish we might add).

Also, unlike the majority of other talk show and late night games, the points and winners do matter and have a whole set of judges that keep them accountable to being the most entertaining guest throughout the evening. Again, we hope this revolutionizes playing games with celebrities on television going forward.

By the way, there’s a new episode of Talk Show the Game Show with Guy Branum tonight on TruTV at 10PM.

We highly recommend you watch it and see talk show guests be whipped into shape when every single detail of their appearances gets judged on a thorough point system. Hopefully, you’ll want all talk show appearances to be conducted like this after watching it.

Guy Branum’s competitive talk show, Talk Show the Game Show, is going to be a full-fledged TV series on TruTV next month.

TruTV is looking for some new blood on their development slate and has opened their doors, partnering with the New York TV Festival, with this Comedy Breakout Initiative that will take in submissions on new formats for their network and pick one creator and project to give up to $25K to develop the idea.

Submissions will run from January 25th, 2017-February 17th, 2017 and finalists will be announced in March and then winners in May.

Get more details and guidelines here.

Oh yeah, best of all, there’s no submission fee.

This actually sends up media coverage and the rise of A-listers more than it does Margot Robbie specifically. The mix of satire is pure silliness is as done exquisitely as to be expected with Billy on the Street.

Either way, it’s another ridiculous and ultra-clever Billy on the Street obstacle course with Rachel Dratch trying to make her way through, kind of terrified, with Billy Eichner yelling the whole way through.

Watch and enjoy it here (and take note of the more subversive edge that Eichner and company have taken this season).

Many of you don’t even know the greatness that’s about to come with Guy Branum’s Talk Show the Game Show being made into a TV show, but, hopefully, you’ll know soon enough thanks to TruTV.

Today, via press release, TruTV announced its upcoming slate of programming and development that happened to have plenty of things that have us excited for the network in 2017.

With a Trump Administration looming, Adam Conover and his ‘bigly’ tendency to ruin things will be very nice to have for a sixteen episode second season of Adam Ruins Everything.

Guy Branum’s Talk Show the Game Show is a competitive talk show where guests have to compete to be the best, most interesting guest dealing with the sharp wit of host Guy Branum. It’s a gem here in LA that we’ve enjoyed for years and we can’t wait for the rest of the country to see what happens when guests can just rely on the story of their weird ride to the airport to get through a late night segment.

Sketch duo Austin Martinez got to incubate on Rachel Dratch’s Late Night Snack on TruTV and will now get upgraded to developing a series of their own. An animated family marijuana dispensary comedy from Martin Starr and Matt Bush is also in development.

In addition to that upcoming Bobcat Goldthwait anthology series, TruTV could have a pretty great 2017.

That being said, Glaser loves gear itself, but, it would appear, that he may not so much love the activities surrounding said gear.

You can see this underlying tension in action when Jon Glaser Loves Gear does an episode on hockey/Jon’s desperate need for validation in any way he can get it/his attempt to impress his son.
