E! Orders a Busy Philipps Talk Show and Stand Up 2 The Streets to Series

E! is really throwing their hat in the ring for comedy with their slate of new series that they just announced.

Busy Philipps will be getting her own late night talk show and the live comedy show “Stand Up 2 The Streets”, a dance battle between comedians, created by Justine Marino and Heidi Heaslet will be adapted into its own series.

Having seen both live in the last year and immensely enjoying it here in LA, you should be highly curious, like we are, to see what these shows will end up being.

With two whole seasons to play with, we’ll be curious to see the series arc that Palladino makes for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

TruTV Orders 10 Episodes of an Amy Sedaris Comedy Series

Attention Strangers with Candy fans (i.e. probably a lot of you reading this), Amy Sedaris will be doing her own show on TruTV for ten episodes where she comedically presents all of her hobbies, skills, obsessions, etc.

Perhaps, this might be Sedaris’ version of Jon Glaser Loves Gear, which is something we’ll completely sign on for.

The Gorburger Show Finds a New Home at Comedy Central

From a web series at Funny or Die and Warner Sound to an HBO pilot, TJ Miller and a blue demon have landed The Gorburger Show at Comedy Central for 8 episodes this spring.

For years, we’ve loved TJ voicing a blue demon that battles his more killer instincts to host his own talk show after brutally taking over a TV station. Do your due diligence and catch up on the original Gorburger Show here.

If this goes well enough, maybe Gorburger could host the Critics Choice Awards next year?

All Three Amazon Comedy Pilots, The Tick, I Love Dick, and Jean-Claude Van Johnson, Ordered to Full Series

Looks like Amazon might be getting the hang of this streaming service thing or, at the very least, have a better grasp of what they want their programming to be.

Just a few weeks ago, Amazon streamed all their comedy pilots, the aforementioned The Tick, I Love Dick, and Jean-Claude Van Johnson, per their original programming development model that supposedly works in audience votes into the greenlighting decision process.

We’re not sure exactly what made Amazon brass greenlight all three series which cover a wide range of types of comedy (a live action version of The Tick and a new, sexuality subverting series from Jill Soloway almost seem on the opposite ends of the comedy spectrum), but they have indeed ordered full seasons of all three series.

This also includes the meta, detective comedy Jean-Claude Van Johnson starring Jean-Claude Van Damme as himself going undercover.

Just hope it won’t be too long before we can start see the rollout of each of these series.

Coming this Summer, TruTV will expand their branding as a network to include a sketch comedy show starring the likes of Kevin Barnett, Jennifer Bartels, Jermaine Fowler, Lil Rel Howery , The Lucas Bros. and Josh Rabinowitz.

So, TruTV first had comedians do talking heads on shows like World’s Dumbest Criminals, then had Impractical Jokers, and now will go on with fully contained sketch comedy, which is very nice to see.

Will Forte’€™s “Last Man on Earth” Ordered to Series at Fox

Fox is moving forward with it’s abandonment of the pilot season model and giving the series greenlight to Will Forte’s series Last Man on Earth, a possibly post apocalyptic comedy.

Chris Miller and Phil Lord (the guys you should now know from The Lego Movie) are producing and even directing the first episode, so, basically, we’re excited for this happen soon.

As more networks are either expanding their comedy programming are entirely rebranding themselves as a comedy focused channel, Comedy Central has made a lot of great moves over the last year in what is getting to be one crowded race for comedy on television.

Today, they’ve ordered both an animated pilot from Will Gluck and Conan writer Scott Gairdnerand added another late night show hosted by Chris Hardwick and produced by Funny or Die/Robert Ben Garant/Thomas Lennon.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out in the coming months.
