Coming from a lover of comedy, knowing the insides and outs of the comedy world I’m assuming, and knowing comedians personally. Is it wrong that I just sold my Xbox for weed? I write the best jokes when I’m baked

October 21, 2011
Uncategorized

Writing isn’t a state of mind. It’s an action and like any action, the more you do it, the better you become.

Granted, the artistic expressiveness of writing, especially when it comes to writing jokes, bits, etc. leaves for a huge area of subjectivity as to what’s bad, good, or the best, but the best joke writers we know are writing all the time regardless of whether they are high, drunk, sober, depressed, manic, or have to rudely stop a conversation to jot something down. Even if what they write ends up staying written and never to be said because of how stupid it is, they feel worst altogether if they don’t write.

With all of that being said, in selling your Xbox for weed, you did get rid of a major distraction.

LA comedy is going worldwide in a few minutes with @JCCoccoli. Tune in.

‘Who IS indie?’ – Lana Del Rey

jennylsq:

Before this, did you ever concern yourself with indie rock?

No. Hey, honey, I would have loved to be part of the indie community. But I wasn’t. I was looking for a community. I don’t even know any people who are musicians. I never met that indie popular indie, whoever the fuck that is. Who IS indie? First of all, I can’t really get my head around what indie music is. Because if you’ve heard of it, it’s sort of pop music, right? Because it’s, like, popular? Or is it just that it’s not on the radio? It’s not like I was in an indie community and then I blew up. It’s like, I was living on the street and I’m not — like, for real, you know what I’m saying?

Replace “indie music” with “alternative comedy” and think.

Also, listen to Lana Del Ray while doing it (yeah, I know, a non-comedy related suggestion. How could that ever happen? Well, ya think we just silently type in a cellar all day?).

2) Yesterday, Colin Quinn had a meltdown on Twitter (@iamcolinquinn) calling foul over Will Ferrell winning the Mark Twain Prize for Humor. Unfortunate as it is, it’s the precarious temptation of the craft of comedy to delve into jealousy of where one person is versus another, especially if you’re that “one person”, but take Kyle Kinane’s word for it regarding doing comedy, “You just keep going and going because you’re sick about it.”
