A recent initiative, dubbed “extreme vetting”, was added to Donald Trump’s controversial immigration policy this week. It calls for questioning of potential immigrants’ sympathies toward extremist religious views, LBGTQ people, women, etc.
With this litmus test, The Daily Show’s Jordan Klepper wanted to see how many a Trump supporter would fare on this ‘extreme vetting’ test and did some field research at a Trump rally to find out.
Spoiler alert: you probably won’t be surprised by the results whatsoever.
More details here.

COPS is Getting Adapted Into Edgy Buddy Comedy Directed by Zombieland’s Ruben Fleischer
It’s been over 7 years since Reno 911! did a masterful send up of the long running, real life, docu-series COPS.
Hopefully, this will make up for the 7 years of a comedic version of COPS not being around.

Kill Rock Stars continues their stellar catalog of comedy albums that includes Kurt Braunohler, Hari Kondabolu, Cameron Esposito, and starting today, Rhea Butcher.
Butcher’s first album, aptly titled Butcher, offers a great introduction to Rhea as the honest, yet very charming stand-up comedian. Specifically, Rhea gives a great glimpse into her cool life as a lesbian, vegetarian, a baseball enthusiast, and more, but she does so in a way where you’d never think of her just as a funny lesbian, vegetarian, or baseball comedian. You just think she’s a funny comedian that happens to identify with all those things.
So, get Butcher here along with collectible t-shirts and hats off of Kill Rock Stars.

The latest round of Amazon’s comedy pilots up for voting are here.

Last night was the final episode of The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore. Unfortunately, that marks far too short of a run for the series, especially in the heat of an election year.
In their final half hour of air time, Jon Stewart paid a visit and offer some beautiful, sincere words of encouragement (including a mention of what David Letterman told him when he faced cancellation). After that, Larry Wilmore explained why the map on their set looks like it’s upside down and detailed the mission statement of The Nightly Show, which should be a goal for the rest of late night going forward.
John Turturro Might Just Be Making a Spin-Off of ‘The Big Lebowski’ with ‘Going Places’
Details are under wraps on this film Going Places that’s in production, but there are whispers that “The Jesus” might be returning to the big screen. Turturro is at the helm directing as well as starring and wrote the script, which is exciting if you enjoyed his other films like Romance & Cigarettes.
It’s actually inspired by 70s French film called Les Valseuses that has Lebowski-esque tone in plot, but seeing the braggadocio bowler donned in purple again would be kind of nice.
Neal Brennan is taping a special for his special solo show 3 Mics for Netflix next month. RSVP for your free tickets here.

Jon Stewart to Be Final Guest on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore
You’ll be watching at 11:30PM on Comedy Central tonight, right?
From the minds of Adam Brodie, Dave Derewlany, and Jon Dore comes this great, dark sketch at JASH that explores the worst possible backstory that one could get in trying to escape from hostile territory. Maria Bamford and Katie Crown, who are also featured, really drive the point home.
Please watch and enjoy it here.

If you’re a fan of slapstick or physical comedy, you should know about Josh Fadem.

Seeso Renews ‘Hidden America’, ‘Cyanide & Happiness’, ‘What’s Your F@%king Deal?!’
A faux travel series hosted by Jonah Ray, an animated dark comedy based on a popular web comic, and a crowd work showcase hosted by Big Jay Oakerson all get renewed at Seeso today. It looks the NBC comedy exclusive streaming service has been taking chances that perhaps that NBC wouldn’t take for their own broadcast network comedy programming and it’s working out.
We hope it keeps going that way.

Gretchen and Jimmy are back at their ‘perfect storm’ of a relationship at the end of this month.
See what that will entail in the season 3 trailer here, then look for the series premiere at Wednesday, August 31st on FXx.
Due to addressing incendiary remarks regarding a rape case in the comedy community by Kurt Metzger, an Inside Amy Schumer writer, Amy Schumer mysteriously said that the show wasn’t happening anymore, then had to explain through a series of tweets that season 5 of Inside Amy Schumer is going to happen, but “…not for the next year at least.”
So, we might have to wait until the end of 2017, maybe even 2018 for new episodes of the critically acclaimed, award winning sketch show.
Last night was the second to last night of The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore and they’re making sure that leave in a memorable fashion.
In that vein, they got Lewis Black to go on a tirade, which you can always count on being memorable, on Donald Trump, his presidential campaign, and the GOP.
If you’re tired of shouting yourself right now, enjoy one of the masters of unfiltered, screaming rage do what he does best.
So, this project, which sounds very enticing for it having Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt/Colbert Report/Portlandia’s Allison Silverman and Baskets/Portlandia/Man Versus Woman’s Jonathan Krisel and it being a comedy about a girl seeking out the demon that her parents had exorcised, will be the latest high concept comedy working its way through development at Fox.
A few years ago, you might remember Fox’s Golan the Insatiable, which was a buddy comedy between a teenage goth girl and a demonic warlord. Its status has been vague for awhile now, but the possibility of Amy Damnation going forward make us wonder what might happen with Golan now, if anything.
Could Fox have two coming-of-age demonic comedies, maybe one animated and the other live action? If they did, it certainly would set Fox’s comedy apart even further than they already are from all the other broadcast networks.
Jim Jefferies and Anthony Jeselnik Sit Down and Interview Each Other
As far as toeing the line of controversy in comedy goes, Jim Jefferies and Anthony Jeselnik have made very successful careers in pulling that off (even if they apparently cross it).
Their conversation, set up by Vulture, is an enlightening one that goes through their brands of comedy, mutual admiration, and how to continue to toe that controversial line.
The Strain, the apocalyptic vampire series that drew criticism right out of the gate for its graphic billboards, is coming up to the premiere of its 3rd season and is trying its hand at a comedic promo.
While the controversy of creatures coming out of eyes proved fruitful for the show, this Stirgoi, the vampires in The Strain, recruitment video has us a little more on board (for the show, not becoming a vampire).
Season 4 of Drunk History has more of what you know and love of the edutainment series. Star-studded historical reenactments, mostly accurate historical accounts, and really, really, really drunk people telling a story.
Watch the trailer here, then look for the season premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 27th on Comedy Central.
Get ready for what might be Australia’s next wonderfully weird export with Girl Asleep from director Rosemary Myer and writer Matthew Whittet.
It’s a coming-of-age comedy that revels being set in the 80s as much as it does making a dream world out of the mind of a teenage girl and it looks all sorts of charming for because of it.
See for yourself in the trailer, then look for it in theaters in the U.S. starting September 23rd.
