Doug Stanhope Next Special “No Place Like Home” Is Coming to Seeso Next Month

In a year where Doug Stanhope is getting really personal (check out his book Digging Up Mother: A Love Story), Stanhope made sure that his latest special was literally close to home.

That’s right, this latest special No Place Like Home was shot in Bisbee, AZ where Doug currently resides.

You won’t have to wait long before you can see it as it is slated to premiere and stream on Seeso on September 15th (You do have Seeso, by now, right?).

In case you’re not aware, Peter Serafinowicz has been brilliantly re-dubbing Trump speeches, word-for-word, in different accents and voices. As Trump keeps saying insane things, Serafinowicz’s library of these videos has only grown.

This latest one might be his best as it really highlights how much pandering Trump is doing while also playing up how sassy he is.

Channel 4 Orders ‘The Bisexual’ Comedy From Desiree Akhavan

If you’re familiar with Desiree Akhavan, you’ll be hoping that this series finds it way stateside just like Catastrophe from Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney did.

If you’re not, just watch this trailer for her film Appropriate Behavior.

Look for the season premiere of Those Who Can’t on Thursday, October 6th at 10:30PM on TruTV.

Anyone think this will make up for The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore getting cancelled?

The Viral Video: The Most Popular Short Film Ever (By Mike Birbiglia) from Keegan-Michael Key

As part of the promotion of a movie, the talent is often now required to do some sort of online content that needs to go viral.

Such a dilemma befell Don’t Think Twice’s Mike Birbiglia, Keegan-Michael Key, Gillian Jacobs, Chris Gethard, Kate Micucci, and Tami Sagher.

So, they did this.

Is it a viral video? Is it a short film? Is it a sketch? Is it all three as a commentary of the debilitating allure of having content go viral? Is that in of itself a viral video?

We’ll let you decide for yourself (though we’re betting on the last two FYI).

Taran Killam Starring In and Craig Johnson Directing/EP’ing Showtime Comedy Pilot “Mating”

The vague, well-trodden premise a man re-entering the world of modern dating might just get enough intrigue from the guiding hand of the director and co-writer of The Skeleton Twins and Taran Killam getting top billing.

Also, this will be an anthology series that might end up going head-to-head with HBO’s anthology comedy series from The Duplass Brothers.

Colin Quinn, Reggie Watts, Michael Che, Dana Carvey, and More Are Getting Netflix Comedy Specials

Netflix has built up its comedy branding so well, especially when it comes to comedy specials, that they now almost deal exclusively in big names.

It’s great to see Quinn having one of his solo shows get turned into a special it’ll also be fascinating to see what Watts does with the freedom of a Netflix special given that his last hour was done live in Central Park.

For instance, reality shows have yet to get dissected by Adam Ruins Everything… until now.

By the way, brand new episodes of Adam Ruins Everything start up tonight at 10PM on TruTV.

Jim and Jeannie Gaffigan Are Ending “The Jim Gaffigan Show”

While we would have liked to have seen more of The Jim Gaffigan Show, we are glad to hear that Jim and Jeannie are ending the show on their terms.

Keep in mind that Jim was balancing this show, his stand-up, writing books, and, of course, having his big, lovely family and that he could make a quality sitcom with all of that is amazing.

Jeff Ross Will Be Roasting Cops for His Next Special

Jeff Ross Roasts Cops will actually be part comedy roast, part documentary, part investigative journalism.

The Roastmaster General Jeff Ross, like he did with inmates in his last special, wants to get to know cops and is doing so through by spending some time following them through their job, talking with them, and, of course, dishing out some roast jokes. Ross got to do this with the Boston Police Department, police brutality protesters, and even a police commissioner.

Take note that the whole week might very well be a roast week for Comedy Central as The Roast of Rob Lowe airs a few days before.

Also, take note that Jeff Ross Roasts Cops will premiere on Saturday, September 10th at 11PM and not on 9/11 or 9/12.

Of course, it being Adult Swim, your options in feedback are limited to five arcade game style buttons labeled “laugh”, “kill this”, “fart”, “tomatoes”, and “skwisgaard”.

We’re just glad that networks are letting the general public get to see pilots more and more.

Larry King Really Interviewed Eric Andre and It Got as Weird as It Could Get Without Eric Getting Naked or Destroying Anything

Yes, this really happened.

You have got to give credit to Larry King for not being really thrown off by Eric Andre, who wavers between sincere and facetious, during the entire interview as well as taking up the challenge of being a guest on The Eric Andre Show.

It’s simultaneously one of Eric’s most calm interviews (as mentioned above he doesn’t get naked or destroy anything) and one of his most interesting (Eric talks in a seemingly sincere manner about killing himself on stage and Larry goes with it).

Now, we can only wait to see if Larry King makes good on that accepted invitation to The Eric Andre Show.

Colin Quinn has been expertly dissecting every single trope of every police procedural/detective TV series with Cop Show.

In fact, Quinn has done it so well with showing how overdone so many cop shows are, but pointing out their fallacies with “behind-the-scenes” footage and interviews with a mysterious European journalist, that he’s made it to a 3rd season over at L Studio.

Thanks to festival director Coree Spencer, a new festival is coming to the ever-burgeoning comedy that’s just happening in Brooklyn (there’s already a few comedy festivals that regularly happen in Brooklyn alone) within the already giant NYC comedy scene.

Called the Cinder Block Comedy Festival due to a personal incident with a cinder block that Coree had, it’ll take over multiple venues throughout Williamsburg in Brooklyn from Wednesday, September 14th-Sunday, September 18th for its very first run.

As, Baron Vaughn, Laurie Kilmartin, Murderfist, Myq Kaplan, Ted Alexandro, Josh Gondelman, Mike Drucker, Kevin Avery, Frank Conniff, Mike Recine, Lynn Bixenspan, Sofiya Alexandra, Greg Edwards, Jess Lane, Baron Vaughn, Emmett Montgomery, Kevin Yee, and more (check out the full line-up here) are all slated to perform, we urge you to go to Cinder Block next month if you’re in, around, or close to NYC.

You can (and should) get your festival passes here.

Seeso Orders ‘Shrink’ From Tim Baltz and Ted Tremper to Series

We’re glad that Seeso is giving a chance to comedies that have promise that NBC might never take a chance on (remember that they sold Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt to Netflix)

The premise of Shrink follows a med school grad trying to pay off his massive amount of student debt and become licensed through “recording 1,920 supervised clinical hours, which he begins by soliciting unorthodox patients from Craigslist and conducts the free sessions in his parent’s garage.”

While that does sound like how a podcast could start, we’re on board for what Baltz and Tremper have cooking here.
