Bob Odenkirk to Write a Book of Personal Essays
Odenkirk actually thinks of this more as a ‘comic bildungsroman’, which is a label that’s more often applied to coming-of-age stories in a much more dramatic sense.
Still, Odenkirk worked his way up to be a cult comedy legend then transitioned into being a celebrated dramatic actor and that journey will be an undeniably engrossing one.
We’ll also be curious to see how, if at all, meta he gets in this first book.

If you’re skeptical, just watch Pete Davidson ramp up to rapping his heart out to Gangsta’s Paradise (with a little help from a surprise guest) and giving zero f’s about wearing shorts on stage.
If you’re not watching the entire episode of The Late Late Show, you might not be familiar with one of the more absurdist recurring segments that definitely deserves more shine.
On repeated occasions, bandleader Reggie Watts will interrupt a segment and cause all sorts of beautiful chaos.
This latest one with an escape artist is a great example of how weird James Corden will let The Late Late Show get.
As there is a seemingly endless canon of documentaries, there’s a similarly endless source for material for Bill Hader, Fred Armisen, Seth Meyers to lovingly parody said documentaries.
Let’s not forget that esteemed actress Helen Mirren is still hosting the whole thing.

Comedy Central’s latest batch of half hour stand-up specials are starting off tonight at midnight. You can look forward to seeing half-hours from Cy Amundson, Erik Bergstrom, Ahmed Bharoocha, Matthew Broussard, Naomi Ekperigin, Nate Fernald, Noah Gardenswartz, Emily Heller, Martha Kelly, Joe Machi, Drew Michael, Aparna Nancherla, Jacqueline Novak, Mike Recine Ramon Rivas, Ali Saddiq, and Nick Turner.
First up will be the pairing of Noah and Ramon, respectively.
So, please tune in as it’s not like you’re doing anything else at midnight on Friday, right?
The love triangle is a tried and true formula within romantic comedies, but making that enticing in 2016 is a bit of a challenge.
Sophie Goodhart’s My Blind Brother has a love triangle between Jenny Slate, Nick Kroll, and a blind Adam Scott that might just be able to pull that off.

Matteo Lane performed his very first late night set last night on Late Night with Seth Meyers and kicked it off like no one else could.
We can only hope it’s the first of many late night spots to come.

Clea DuVall’s debut as a writer/director is a pretty damn fine one.
Her film, The Intervention, following a “marriage intervention” is simultaneously well crafted, emotionally charged, and laugh out loud hysterical. The notable ensemble cast of Melanie Lynskey, Cobie Smulders, Ben Schwartz, Natasha Lyonne, DuVall, Alia Shawkat, and Vincent Piazza do not disappoint either in handling the delicate material.
If you want more comedy in your dramedies or want to see something that exhibits the real nitty gritty of several different relationships, but does actually celebrate the idea of love without seeming too heavy handed, The Intervention just might be for you.
It just opened at Arclight Hollywood today, but you can watch it on iTunes now as well.

There’s Bonus Footage/”Poop” from Triumph the Insult Comic Dog’s Recent Election Special
It turns out that Triumph’s Summer Election Special 2016 was so filled to the brim with material that there’s plenty of bonus footage or, as Triumph calls it, “bonus poop” involving the Westboro Baptists, Media Row, a fake book signing, one more attempt to “help” Chris Christie, and more.
Fortunately, they’ve cut all of this together and made a special half hour so-called “Bonus Poop” available on Hulu.
Sir Patrick Stewart is returning as a cavalier news anchor very soon as season 2 of Starz’s Blunt Talk is set to premiere on Sunday, October 2nd.
This new trailer shows that, while season 1 got unhinged, season 2 will probably one-up that and then some.
Not that it should surprise you, but it looks like HBO has some pretty great stuff coming up.
Announced today, three hour specials from Jerrod Carmichael, TJ Miller, and Pete Holmes are coming to the premium cable network in 2017 as well as a brand spankin’ new sketch comedy show, Tracey Ullman’s Show that skewers life in the UK, premiering much sooner on Friday, October 28th at 11PM.
So adjust your expectations for the next calendar year accordingly.

Lincoln Calling in Nebraska, happening from Thursday, October 6th-Saturday, October 8th, is doing just that with the names above (who we feel that you should be well acquainted with for how funny they are if you’re not already) and many more.
