Get Your First Look at the Final Season of Barry and the Conclusion of Hitman Comedy

March 7, 2023
News
barry, bill hader, season 4, teaser

Over 3 seasons, Bill Hader and Alec Berg have dazzled us all with the bleakly dark, but still very hysterical Barry, following a troubled hitman desperately trying to being an actor (and a better person) and nothing but chaos trailing him at every turn. For our money, it’s one of the best dark comedies that there ever has been and has elevated the game in terms of how comedy can be directed for TV (or even for movies-the show is one of the most cinematic comedies).

Without giving too much away, the seemingly impossible redemption path for Barry, at the outset of season 4, seems even more impossible now, at least on Barry’s terms. This first teaser for season 4 is already so enticing and yet leaves so many possibilities open to what end Barry might ultimately come to (a happy ending? probably not in the capital-H sense).

Get a taste of this fourth and final season of Barry here, then make sure you have access to HBO on Apr. 16th when it premieres.

Miracle Workers Goes Mad Max for Season 4

News
daniel radcliffe, Geraldine Viswanathan, miracle workers, season 4, steve buscemi, tbs, trailer

When Simon Rich’s Man Seeking Woman ended at FXx, we wondered if his particularly grounded brand of whimsy and imagination would ever get to run and play once more. TBS has thankfully given Rich several giant sandboxes to play with via multiple seasons of Miracle Workers and Simon has definitely explored all the edges of every one of them. Jumping from working for God to Medieval times to the Wild West, Miracle Workers has almost been as delightfully formula defiant as Atlanta.

Cue in their latest season wherein it seems to be a sitcom version of a Mad Max-esque post-apocalyptic hellscape where two people in love (Daniel Radcliffe and Geraldine Viswanathan) are just trying get by (and not die in any number of hellscape-ish ways).

Get your first look at what’s in store for season 4 of Miracle Workers, complete with a resonant title “Miracle Workers: End Times” here, then look for new episodes on Mon. Jan. 16th on TBS.

Atlanta Announces Final Season to Premiere in September with Very Trippy Teaser

July 22, 2022
News
atlanta, fx, hulu, premiere date, season 4, teaser

What started as a dramedy about coming up in the rap game in Atlanta has become something so expansive in its artistic scope that it’s hard to truly define or categorize in most traditional ways. Donald Glover’s vision for dissecting race, class, and the history of the two that we all carry with us has been electrifying and why Atlanta has been an award winner right out of the gate.

The reverberations of these past three seasons of the series have already had a ripple effect in terms of what TV could be a doing away with any sort of previously enshrined rules of narrative or genre. We have no doubt that’ll be the case for season 4 of Atlanta especially with an announcement teaser that features Coconut Crunchies falling from the sky, striped gators, an ostrich being born and grown to adulthood in mere seconds, the inverse of a mic drop, and more.

See for yourself here, then get hooked for the fourth and final season of Atlanta when September comes around (thank goodness we don’t have to wait another indefinite amount of years between seasons).

Behold, The Season 4 Trailer for What We Do In the Shadows

June 23, 2022
News
fx, season 4, trailer, what we do in the shadows

The best/only vampires in Staten Island and their familiar all return to save us all from, well, a world without more What We Do In The Shadows in it. Truly, any time in between seasons is far too long to not spend with Nandor, Nadja, Laslo, Colin Robinson, and Guillermo and their vampiric antics that are largely trying to live their undead lives as best they can versus world domination.

This particular season will see Nandor once again redouble his efforts for finding love, a baby Colin Robinson, and the opening of their very own nightclub in order for the vampires to have a little more fun without risk of the sun.

Take a gander at season 4 of What We Do In the Shadows here, then get ready to sink your teeth in every week on FX starting Tues. Jul. 12th (and on Hulu the day after).

Rejoice in Your First Look at Season 4 of What We Do in the Shadows and Its Pickup of Seasons 5 & 6

fx, renewed, season 4, what we do in the shadows

What We Do In The Shadows remains one of the funniest comedies on television, especially for how much it was glorious salve during the thick of quarantine. Its lack of awards recognition is a great reflection on how much politicking goes on during awards season (it kind of should be winning everything, FYI).

Thankfully, there’s a chance for all that to change as FX in a very shrewd, wise move opted to pick up What We Do In The Shadows for seasons 5 and 6. Given how imaginative the entire writing staff has gotten with the first three seasons while also managing to both grow Guillermo, Nadia, Colin Robinson, Nandor, and Laszlo and keep the integrity and humor of the series intact, we have full faith in them not hitting a slump.

You can see that season 4, due to premiere on Jul. 12th on FX and Hulu after that, is already going to be a hoot with baby Colin Robinson with the first official teaser here.

Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 4 Gives You Its First Look

November 30, 2021
News
alex borstein, amazon prime, marvelous mrs maisel, rachel brosnahan, season 4, teaser

The last time that we got to check in with Midge Maisel, there wasn’t really a pandemic to speak of. As such, it seems like a decade has passed since the last season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (it’s our belief that ten years have passed in the last two years).

As a sidebar, we do relish in the irony that one of Midge’s touchstone moments in doing stand-up is performing in a park during a protest and the actual reality of comedians doing such things last summer were, of course, so much different.

The world has changed irreversibly for so many reasons and plenty of folks have come out of lockdown with a renewed fire to shake up the world. So, it’s only fitting that this latest season of Marvelous Mrs. Maisel sees Midge hellbent on breaking the systemic fallacies of the biz that are keeping her down as a parallel to what’s happening in 2021 and will hopefully continue happening in 2022.

Season 4 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel seems to promise we’re getting back to the Maisel that drunkenly riffed on her cheating husband, the original spark for the whole series.

Get a taste of all of that with the very first teaser for season 4 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel here, then mark down Feb. 18th for this season premiere.

Get a Taste of Season 4 of FXx’s Curated Short Form Series “Cake”

News
cake, fx, fx on hulu, fxx, season 4, teaser

The first three rounds of FX’s Cake brought several slices of a wildly multi-layered, multi-flavored “cake” featuring live-action, animation, musical comedy, etc. from all round the world.

They’re thankfully doing another round of it and that will be served up shortly on Thurs. Mar. 11th in fact. Apparently, it will be premiering on FXx, but it’s very likely that you’ll just stream it on Hulu the next day (when it’s available for streaming).

There’s a bit of teaser that just gives a little dollop’s worth of what’s to come. If you need a break from reality (and we’re guessing that you do), this new season of Cake might be just what you need.

Watch the teaser for season 4 of Cake here.

Big Mouth’s Season 4 Trailer Is Here (and Introduces the Anxiety Mosquito)

November 13, 2020
News
andrew goldberg, big mouth, jason mantzoukas, jessi klein, john mulaney, john oliver, nick kroll, season 4

Though it is one of the most explicit animated series of all time, Big Mouth has proven over three seasons that it also has plenty of heart, depth, and humanity in following the horrific time that is puberty and playing it out hilariously with a flair of magic realism.

Normally, waiting for this fourth season to come out would have been a little excruciating, but there has been plenty of things in 2020 that kept our minds more than occupied (probably overloaded to be quite frank). So, the arrival of an entire new season of Big Mouth on Fri. Dec. 4th on Netflix is the second of early holiday gifts (the first being a Trump loss of course).

This trailer promises a season that delivers on the high bar that Big Mouth has set for itself as well as introducing a new imaginary character that will surely hit us all way to close to home, the “anxiety mosquito”

Get a taste of all of that here.

High Maintenance’s Season 4 Trailer Is Here and Things Seem Just a Little Bit Better

Like the rush of ease that characters within High Maintenance get from knowing that the guy is coming with some much needed cannabis-fueled relief, it’s very comforting to know that a new season of High Maintenance is coming for us on Feb. 7th.

This season 4 trailer gives just a taste of that beautiful feeling that has always existed with every episode of this show (on top of teasing what should be a stand out ep. with Larry Owens). See it for yourself here.

From the Looks of This Trailer, “Better Things” Is Going to Make a Triumphant Return with Season 4

Uncategorized
better things, fx, pamela adlon, season 4, trailer

All things considered, Better Things is not only the vulnerable, gritty story of a single mom attempting to live her best life with a boatload of kids that has garnered plenty of acclaim over three seasons. The story of the series itself is also one of a gritty struggle with Adlon making the best series that she can from the get go, as both the lead and co-creator, then having to deal with the other co-creator, Louis C.K., and his #MeToo fallout while keeping the show at such a high level.

It really is a triumphant dramedy in so many different ways and season 4 certainly maintains that feeling despite presenting Pamela’s Sam with a whole new set of challenges with dating apps, dream cars, etc.

See for yourself in the Better Things Season 4 trailer here, then look for it it premiere on Mar. 5th on FX.

Amazon Re-ups The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel for Fourth Season

Once again, Amazon’s prestige series, even above all of their dramas, is going to get renewed (so long as Amy Sherman-Palladino is game of course).

What will be interesting to see here is how long The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel might go and where the show could go now as a perennial award winner and leader for Amazon Studios. Would they make it into the 70s, which could be really fascinating to see how Midge handles that particular boom in comedy (maybe even a little differently than I’m Dying Up Here)?

There’s no telling about any of that right now, so just enjoy getting more Mrs. Maisel in the not too distant future.

Atlanta’s Getting a Fourth Season at FX

With the amount of ground that Donald Glover, Hiro Murai, and more have broken with three seasons of Atlanta, one has to wonder what is next for the critically acclaimed, genre/form defying Atlanta.

The possibilities for the series seem boundless, which is a thing that we’re glad for Glover to have, and, with its constant knack for reinvention, that it could just keep going if it chose to do so.

In any case, round of applause for a fourth season of Atlanta and keep a close eye out for a teaser.

‘Baskets’ Will Come to a Close at FX with Season 4

It looks like we will have gotten 4 seasons with the Baskets family and their journey down the clowning business rabbit hole. Galifiankis, Louie Anderson, and Martha Kelly have had some truly magical chemistry from the start and props to Jonathan Krisel being at the helm.

At least, there will be one more chance for Baskets to win some very well deserved Emmys.

The Good Place Renewed for a Fourth Season at NBC

Well, well, well. Here’s some good news with no strings attached.

By the way, at this pace with The Office, Parks and Recreation, The Good Place, and the recently-transplanted-to-NBC Brooklyn Nine-Nine, we wouldn’t be surprised if Mike Schur ended up running NBC or, at least, NBC comedy if that’s what he wanted to do.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’s Fourth and Final Season Premieres Tonight

In a not so distant past that seems oh so distant, Rachel Bloom and Aline Brosh McKenna were set to do a dark rom com musical series over at Showtime.

A network change to CW and a handful of award wins later, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend has redefined what a musical can be, what a romantic comedy can be, what a female led series can be, what the CW’s branding for comedy could be, and how to talk about a plethora of sensitive, timely topics in a nuanced and informed way AND still be funny and very clever while doing so.

For all what it has acheived, it might be worth your time to tune in tonight at 9PM for the fourth and final season premiere on the CW (or tomorrow on the CW app).

Now entering to its 4th season on Netflix, we can’t help but notice how much of a well-oiled machine Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is at this point, which, unfortunately, doesn’t get to be the case for similar high concepts sitcoms on linear TV.

Being a single camera scripted show and staying pretty topical (#MeToo, AI) and making that all work is impressive. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has kept up that standard for three seasons and, according to this trailer, will likely live up to it again in this upcoming season.

Season 4 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt begins streaming on Netflix on May 30th.

Roy Wood Jr. has taken over hosting duties from Ari Shaffir for the fourth season of Comedy Central’s storytelling series This Is Not Happening.

Per usual, there are very insane stories, several of which probably benefit from certain statutes of limitations being over, and crazy looking interstitials inspired by the title of the show.

By the way, Roy looks pretty damn slick in his get up, doesn’t he?
