Casey Wilson & June Diane Raphael Comedy Series Closer to Happening at ABC

One of the higher profile projects during this past pilot season, Pulling, an adaptation of a BBC comedy series, is one step closer to happening at ABC with the wonderful Casey Wilson and June Diane Raphael after signing their latest deal at the network.

It’s not quite picked up to series just yet, but we’re hopeful given that it’s gone through this many hoops and still has Wilson and Raphael involved.

Watch Featurette From Jerry Lewis’ Infamous ‘The Day The Clown Cried”

Comedy legend Jerry Lewis’ “The Day The Clown Cried” has been almost an urban legend  for simply being a movie about a clown that leads children to a concentration camp gas chamber and Lewis vowing for it to never see the light from a projector ever.

However, a featurette of the film showing Lewis on set doing a few takes from the movie as well as setting scenes has been uploaded to YouTube and while not revealing what the macabrely fascinated part of you would want to see, you can imagine what was only to follow.

It has hints of the documentary that should win the Oscar this year about surviving death squad leaders reenacting the murders they carried out decades later and their reaction to doing so, The Act of Killing, but for comedy.

Jack McBrayer To Voice New Disney Channel Series From Creators of Powerpuff Girls

There is thankfully a sort of new trend among cartoons aimed primarily for children in that they’re making it watchable for adults/parents that have to watch cartoons with their kids (i.e. Adventure Time, Phineas and Ferb).

Having Jack McBrayer voice the lead character for a show called “Wander Over Yonder” on The Disney Channel from Craig McCracken and Lauren Faust, the creators of The Powerpuff Girls and many other Cartoon Network favorites should be a good sign that this trend is continuing,

Not only is it amazing that legendary magician/escape artist Harry Houdini was invited to a seance, then promised to expose spiritualists for hoaxes, but it’s pretty great that Ken Marino will play Houdini and Alfred Molina, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the man who invites Houdini to the seance on an upcoming episode of Drunk History on Comedy Central tomorrow at 10PM.

Harris Wittels Sells Comedy to NBC

NBC has bought up a number of comedy projects, one of which we’re very intrigued by from Parks and Recreation writer Harris Wittels.

We’re not exactly sure what direction NBC comedy is headed as it would seem on the one hand that shows like Community, Parks and Recreation are the last of their kind at the network, yet they’re developing a project from a Parks and Rec’s writer.

Still, this is good news nonetheless.

Dais for Comedy Central’s Roast of James Franco Has Jeff Ross, Nick Kroll, Sarah Silverman, and More

Well, so far, there are no “stunt celebrities” on the dais for Comedy Central’s latest roast that are just there for the simple spectacle without any real comedy chops. Bill Hader, Jonah Hill, Nick Kroll, Natasha Leggero, Jeff Ross, and Sarah Silverman are pretty solid.

That’s great to see, for now, but we are surprised that Jay Baruchel and Danny McBride aren’t in this announcement as This Is The End must have been just a warm up for this.

Everything Is Festival at Cinefamily Will Mostly Be Livestreamed

Many of you, for many reasons, won’t be able to attend what looks to be an amazing Everything Is Festival that’s already under way. You don’t have the dough to go or perhaps you don’t live anywhere near LA, etc.

Well, luckily, Cinefamily’s live streaming a lot of the festival, especially the live portions including Comic Relief Zero w/Tony Clifton, Comedy Bang! Bang! The Musical, Fox ADHD’s Pizza Party, Show and Tell with Maria Bamford, Mondo Public Access, and more.

So check the schedule for shows and times to watch because you don’t want to recreate what happened by just reading tweets about it.

NBC Buys Comedy Produced By Tina Fey & Robert Carlock

30 Rock’s Tina Fey & Robert Carlock being involved in another series at NBC was only a matter of time as it was the obvious move for NBC to keep them both on.

In fact, was anyone timing how long since all the way from when 30 Rock’s series finale ended to now? Whatever that comes out to, it was probably too long.

It wasn’t a ruse that Stephen Colbert had cleverly planned and kept on the down low when Daft Punk cancelled last minute on appearing on The Colbert Report.

If anything, you’ll somehow have an even deeper appreciation what Colbert and his writing staff attempted to go through to get the duo, helmets and costumes all, on screen with their bizarre diva like requests.

Nerdmelt Showroom Expands To Have Nerdist School to Teach Comedy, Animation, Writing, and More

The live venue run by Nerdist Industries, The Nerdmelt Showroom, is further legitimizing itself from the numerous accolades and achievements it has gotten from being the site of the some best comedy shows in LA to seeing its flagship show, Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail, become a Comedy Central series to now having a school. Joining in the ranks of some of the more established venues in town like the Upright Citizens Brigade, there will soon be classes, for improv, sketch, writing, animation, storytelling, and more.

It was the next logical step for them to take after getting working A/C for being a venue in the back of a comic book store.
