Mythic Quest Season 2 Gets Its First Full Trailer

Mythic Quest is one of a growing number of series that is legitimizing Apple TV+’s place as a streaming service in the streaming wars. Taking the energy and verve of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and putting it into a video game studio has been a more than refreshing departure from the litany of fish-out-of-water sitcoms that get marched out and subsequently cancelled every TV season.

Even taking on a “very special episode”/dramedy tone for their quarantine episode, creators Rob McElhenney and Megan Ganz have conjured up a lovable cadre of very flawed misfits (some are lovable in spite of their shortcomings) in Mythic Quest that we’re genuine want to follow into whatever chaos they rustle up.

Thankfully, season 2 is just around the corner (May 7th on Apple TV+) and you can get your first full taste of what’s to come here.

While it’s a pretty bold statement to call something The Biggest Show, this benefit for Young Storytellers might actually get into some superlative territory.

Seth Rogen, Jordan Peele, Nasim Pedrad, Tony Hale, Thomas Middleditch, Natasha Rothwell, Charlie Day, John Cho, Yvonne Orji, Martin Starr, Danny Pudi, Busy Phillips, Max Greenfield, Georgia King, Kimberly Herbert Gregory, and hosts The Sklar Brothers will all perform scripts written by 5th graders for this Biggest Show.

Proceeds go to Young Storytellers, which is a non-profit that connects film and TV professionals with public school students in order to foster their own short screenplay.

The Biggest Show 2016 is set for next week on Thursday, October 20th at 8PM at The Novo DTLA in LA Live. Tickets for standing room are available for $25 and you can (and should) get them here.

Dan Harmon’s short form series Great Minds at History Channel’s Night Class returned with more to take some delightful license with bringing historical figures to the present day and put them (as well as Dan) into morally and ethically comprising situation to humor the rest of us.

The latest episodes that have Danny Pudi play a Buddha who gets drawn into product placement and Andy Dick play a John Wilkes Booth that’s coerced into playing Lincoln accomplish this quite well.

Bill Hader, Charlyne Yi, Matt Walsh, Danny Pudi, and way more comedy folks showed up in this big opening sketch for the 2015 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference.

It’s a pretty great explanation for not having a tech conference be like an awards show.

While Parks and Recreation and The Office are over, Community and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt finding their way online, and Must See TV dropped, NBC is at a big crossroads as to where there comedy will be headed.

More and more this pilot season, NBC seems like they would like to keep some of their stars around from their last era of sitcoms. Community’s Danny Pudi has now been set to star in the pilot for Strange Calls, adapted from a high concept Australian horror sitcom, as the lead. He’d play a well-meaning police officer that has to deal with secretly supernatural town in the sticks. So, we guess it’d be like Eureka, but more supernatural and with Pudi.

Already, NBC has Adam Scott who just finished up with Parks and Recreation developing a dispensary comedy with Joe Mande, leaving us to wonder what’s to come for comedy series at the peacock.

Having been given a development deal by Fox to create alternative content, the guys from Lonely Island have, so far, put together three projects in development. One is sci-fi comedy with Danny Pudi, another is a mockumentary hosted Neal Brennan, and then there will be a hidden camera show from Andre Hyland (a thing that we think is long overdue).

The company that they’ve formed, almost to no surprise, is called Party Over Here. In case you’re wondering, we’re looking forward to all of this.
