Here’s a Trailer for the Latest Quarantine Comedy “Together” with Sharon Horgan and James McAvoy

The shared experience of over 7.5 billion people through the COVID-19 global pandemic is both one that’s traumatic and that hasn’t even reached its end yet. Understandably, there might be an inclination to not have a perspective of what this historic time is like mirrored back at us as the world has so much healing to do (on top of getting vaccinated against COVID-19).

Still, the “shared” part of that experience is undeniable territory for comedy as it’s probably the most relatable thing in any of our lifetimes, which is why we’re all only seeing the beginning of the comedic lens processing through some sort of collective experience of the last year and a half.

Cue in Together from the renowned Stephen Daldry that follows a family, lead by both Sharon Horgan and James McAvoy, that go into lockdown as COVID-19 ravages through the UK and hashing out their already on-the-rocks marriage. Thankfully, this wasn’t shot on Zoom or had to employ some clever shooting strategy to maintain distance from actors (or even be just a collection of monologues delivered straight to camera). Instead, James and Sharon are up in each other business and, it would seem, there’s a new level of sit-com style “talking head” here that doesn’t even bother cutting to a separate interview. Both James and Sharon just look to camera to express their non-diegetic thoughts in the middle of a scene as opposed to what The Office or Modern Family did for so long.

In any case, there’s some enticing promise here as it’s hard to go wrong with Sharon Horgan cursing up a storm.

Get your first look at Daldry’s Together with the official trailer here, then look for it in theaters starting Aug. 27th.

Amazon Studios Signs Sharon Horgan to Overall Deal

As Sharon Horgan is now, more than ever before, a true power player in comedy as a writer, actress, and director, maybe they’ll get to doing a new version of Pulling as was planned a few years ago?

In any case, Amazon is smart to make sure that Horgan doesn’t get too comfy with Divorce over at competitor HBO by allowing her to develop whatever she wants at Amazon.

The critically acclaimed intercontinental dark romantic comedy, Catastrophe, is back for a third go and we can only hope that you’re as excited as we are to see how Rob Delaney and Sharon Horgan make a mess of things this time.

So, if you don’t have Amazon Prime already, three seasons of Catastrophe (plus Transparent and Fleabag amongst other things) would be a pretty good reason to sign on.

Intercontinental romantic comedy has never been fully realized, warts and all, quite like Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney’s Catastrophe, which is why it’s a critically acclaimed series on both sides of the pond for over two seasons.

The third season, having had its run in the UK, is now set to start streaming here in the U.S. on Amazon Prime on Friday, April 28th.

Get a lovely preview with this U.S. trailer here.

The 3rd season of Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney’s wondrous, brutally honest romantic comedy Catastrophe is about to premiere in the UK on Channel 4.

That, however, does means we have to wait a little while longer before it makes it way stateside and streams on Amazon.

In the meantime, you can enjoy this trailer.

Just a friendly reminder that one of the funniest transatlantic comedy series to ever be is returning stateside for its 3rd season on Amazon at the end of April.

Also, here’s a fun set of Q&A with stars and creators Rob Delaney and Sharon Horgan.

3rd Attempt to Make US Version of Cult UK Comedy “Pulling”, Co-Created and Starring Sharon Horgan,  Happening at NBC

3rd Attempt to Make US Version of Cult UK Comedy “Pulling”, Co-Created and Starring Sharon Horgan,  Happening at NBC

It looks like one way or another, a U.S. version of Pulling will make it to television.

A decade ago, Sharon Horgan started off her rise in comedy with co-creating (along with Dennis Kelly) and co-starring in Pulling, a hit UK sitcom following the lives of three 21st century women living together. Since then, Horgan has worked her name into the States with the critically acclaimed Catastrophe.

Either making things come full circle or complete her rise in America (Horgan also has a bunch of other irons in the TV fire including being involved in HBO’s Divorce), NBC is developing an American adaptation of Pulling that will be written by Wendy and Lizzie Molyneux from Bob’s Burgers. Previous attempts to make this happen at ABC have gone nowhere (including one with June Diane Raphael, Jenny Slate, and Kristen Schaal), but maybe the timing was just off.

Certainly, Horgan has way more pull in the US than in years past.

Divorce and Insecure Premiere Tonight on HBO

10PM and 10:30PM respectively on HBO.

Reading the titles of Divorce and Insecure almost seems like too perfect of a pairing of series debuts, but that is indeed what’s happening tonight. Issa Rae makes her debut with the show she stars in and co-created, Insecure and Sarah Jessica Parker, Thomas Haden Church, the guiding hand of series creator Sharon Horgan, and a tale of separation meet up in is a very intriguing looking dramedy.

Again, that’s 10PM or whenever you’ll want to watch it later on HBO GO or HBO NOW.

BBC Orders Comedy ‘Motherland’ Co-Written by Sharon Horgan to Series

Sharon Horgan has quietly built a trans-atlantic comedy empire.

On top of having a couple of seasons of the much lauded Catastrophe under her belt with Rob Delaney and overseeing the new HBO series Divorce, Sharon Horgan has co-written a brand new show with Graham Linehan, Helen Linehan and Holly Walsh called Motherland that just a series order from the BBC.

It’ll be a more unfiltered take, probably a la Catastrophe, on motherhood and it probably won’t be too long before the show finds its way stateside.

Catastrophe Renewed for Seasons 3 and 4 at UK’s Channel 4

There hasn’t be an official pick-up from Amazon where the series resides in the U.S., but we’d have a hard time imagining that wouldn’t happen for Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney’s critically acclaimed intercontinental hit.

Whatever your feelings about Sex & The City are, you should probably let those go for the new HBO series Divorce that gives Sex & The City star Sarah Jessica Parker top billing once again.

We say that because the great Thomas Haden Church is also starring and the series happens to be created by the also great Sharon Horgan, who is the co-star and co-creator of the critical darling Catastrophe.

See the potential for this series for yourself in this teaser, then look for Divorce (as a series, hopefully not for yourself) this fall on HBO.

Lifetime, along with half of cable TV, continuing its foray int comedy.

Having dipped its toe into the comedic waters with Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever and the Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell faux-Lifetime style drama A Deadly Adoption, Lifetime is now bringing in more programming that’s atypical from what their brand has been for years.

First off, they’ll be the first network to air Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney’s Catastrophe on linear U.S. television (Catastrophe is currently only available in the States on Amazon). That will happen sometime early next year.

Secondly, Wilfred co-creator and star Jason Gann is developing a new dramedy currently called Breeders that explores the high school nature of becoming a suburban mom.

Both developments seem to, as far as we can tell right now, bode well for Lifetime.

In its first season, Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney’s Catastrophe received heaps of great press for being part of this new wave of grounded, sharp romantic comedy on television.

The second season has already had a run on the air in the UK and is, as of today, finally available stateside via Amazon.

We’re guessing that you probably have to get through binge watching a bunch of stuff right now in addition to this.

It’s about time that we got to see this Stateside.

Amazon has secured the rights to stream the very first season of Channel 4 series Catastrophe from created by and starring United States’ Rob Delaney and UK’s Sharon Horgan.

Considering how much of a following he has on Twitter, 1.1 million, largely built up here in the U.S., it’s a curiosity what was taking so long for Catastrophe to find a home here for American viewers.

Either way, Amazon Prime subscribers will get to enjoy the series following an unplanned pregnancy of Horgan by Delaney starting Fri. Jun. 19th.

UK Comedy Series With U.S. Stars “Catastrophe” and “Cuckoo” Set to Come Stateside

(via The Hollywood Reporter)

There seems to be more cross-pollination between U.S. and U.K. comedy series as of late. Of course, The Office was famously adapted from Ricky Gervais’ version to the version starring Steve Carell that went for 9 seasons. Nowadays, James Corden and Showtime’s Episodes further connect the comedy bridge across the pond.

So, naturally, it would make sense that successful UK series Cuckoo that starred Andy Samberg and Catastrophe starring American comedian/author/Twitter king Rob Delaney and UK’s Sharon Horgan would find it’s way here.

NBC has ordered a pilot for an American remake of Cuckoo and Amazon has gotten rights to stream Catastrophe in the spring for people in the U.S.

Since last year, Rob Delaney has tucked himself away with Sharon Horgan over in the UK for their Channel 4 series Catastrophe.

Details as to when it was going to come out in the UK, much less when/if we get to see it here in The States, have been largely a secret.

Such details are still sort of under wraps, but there’s now a teaser trailer to outline Delaney’s knocking up of Horgan as an American staying in the UK  and the glorious aftermath that follows.

Picked up for a season at Channel 4, it follows Delaney and Horgan as a couple that decides to give the family thing a go when Horgan becomes pregnant.

Here’s Rob Delaney himself giving more detail to the show. Hopefully, it’ll make it across the pond in one form or another so us Yanks can watch it.
