Running a comedy show in either NYC or LA for over a decade is a remarkable feat in of itself. To do so in both is another thing entire together that requires a bit of magic.

It was already enticing enough to hear what Comedy Central has lined-up with late night thus far between Moshe Kasher, The President Show with Atamanuik’s Trump, Jim Jefferies, and Jordan Klepper’s new show.
Now, they’ve got a whole new chunk of programming and pilots that give a lot to look forward to.
Taskmaster, from Alex Horne, has Reggie Watts hosting a competition as the “taskmaster” between comedians performing “stupefying tasks”. New Negroes will be the TV adaptation of the live showcase hosted by Baron Vaughn and Open Mike Eagle featuring new black talent.
Comedy Central has also upped their digital series Alternatino with Arturo Castro and Delco Proper from John McKeever and Tommy Pope to full fledged TV pilots.
The other pilots include projects such as Neal Brennan interviewing celebrity guests in their home town, former Nightly Show contributor Franchesca Ramsey perhaps repackaging The Nightly Show, and a stand-up show from Jak Knight.
Scripted half-hour pilots include a South Side Chicago based comedy from Bashir Salahuddin, Diallo Riddle and Sultan Salahuddin, a Queens based comedy following rapper/actress/comedian Awkwafina, an Austin based sitcom from Noël Wells, and an existential sibling comedy from Chris Kelly & Sarah Schneider.
From this, we can only hope that Comedy Central reaffirms its place in comedy going forward as Netflix, HBO, and FX are currently riding the high tides of critical praise and awards.
Next Saturday, Eric Andre will assemble the likes of Reggie Watts, Dan Curry, and Derrick Beckles all to watch the worst movie that Eric could find at The Downtown Independent.

At the beginning of the year, San Francisco always has one of the biggest comedy festivals in the world, SF Sketchfest.
Just announced today, SF will be getting another giant comedy festival in the summertime, specifically June 2nd-4th, brought to you by Comedy Central.
The first ever Clusterfest has a gigantic line-up of the sort proportions and depth that Comedy Central can summon. It’s also the flip of most big time music and arts festival in that it’s mostly comedy with a bit of music as opposed to there being a comedy tent and lots and lots and lots of music a la Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, etc. (Note: producers of both those festivals are involved here). Sure, the voices of Jason Schwartzman, Lena Dunham, Reggie Watts, Maya Rudolph, Susan Sarandon, Alex Karpovsky and John Cameron Mitchell might entice you to watch any animated comedy that has them as the cast.
However, Dash Shaw’s unique animation (he’s a graphic novelist by the way) for My Entire High School Sinking Into the Sea as well as the title should peak your interest more.
Seeing that in the trailer certainly got us on board (even though there is sinking involved)

In case you were in doubt of Doug Benson making court decisions on actual cases while being, per usual, high, here’s a teaser for the upcoming Comedy Central series The High Court to reassure you that this really happened.
If you look closely, you’ll note that Michael Ian Black, Jessimae Peluso, and Reggie Watts are all guest bailiffs in Benson’s High Court that are also pretty baked as well.

Watching Ben Schwartz go through denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance in the setting of a blissfully aloof morning show with the uber-cheerful Lauren Lapkus is a performance worthy of some awards attention.
Branded content (Cap’n Crunch is prominently featured) doesn’t get much more out there and, at the same time, better than this.
Pretty much everything you could want out of a Reggie Watts comedy special is included in Spatial.
Stand-up, amazing improvised songs, a bizarre, faux sitcom that co-stars Kate Berlant and Rory Scovel, and tap dancing is just some of what’s in store for your eyes and ears in watching this new hour from Watts. You expect this joyful, carefree vibe from Reggie and he delivers it in spades in what is his sharpest, tightest special to date.

On top of Reggie Watts, the otherworldly comedian-musician extraordinaire doing his “normal” thing of improvising music and riffing on material that seems to space, time, and language, there is going to be a lot of other fun stuff in his latest comedy special, Spatial.
That includes appearances from Rory Scovel, Kate Berlant, tap dancing, mysterious beings, and whatever other magic Reggie can come up with.
Thankfully, we won’t be waiting too long for this as Reggie Watts’ Spatial begins streaming on Netflix on Tuesday, December 6th.
Tomorrow night, November 22nd, Reggie Watts and his Late Late Show band, Karen, will be doing their residency at El Cid in Silverlake (4212 W Sunset Blvd.) and be joined by the amazing comedy pop group The Cooties as well as the lovely Kate Micucci (one half of Garfunkel and Oates). Needless to say, it’s going to be one hell of a show.

Funny or Die’s faux version of an early morning talk show might just be somehow even more chaotic.
Ben Schwartz and Lauren Lapkus co-host The Earliest Show on Funny or Die that has all the trappings of your stereotypical, cheery talk show that’s on at 6AM. However, there’s a dark undertone that Schwarz and Lapkus deal with that makes this a little more absurdly serious than your average talk show parody.

The word “trippy” probably won’t be sufficient in describing whatever happens with this.
That’s right; the co-creator of Rick & Morty and one-man comedy/music extravaganza Reggie Watts will not only be going live in AltspaceVR on Wednesday, October 26th at 8PM PDT/5PM EST, but they will be doing what will probably be the most otherworldly talk show ever.
That’s all the details that have been released for now, but know that you’ll be able to watch the ‘fireside talk show’ (maybe it’ll be next to the Sun in VR?) on Samsung Gear VR, Rift & Vive, as well as your traditional desktop/laptop computer.
The Cooties are already great. Reggie Watts is also already great. They all definitely do not need to be made great again.

On repeated occasions, bandleader Reggie Watts will interrupt a segment and cause all sorts of beautiful chaos.
This latest one with an escape artist is a great example of how weird James Corden will let The Late Late Show get.
