As Networks and Netflix Face Off, Your Ability to TV Binge Watch Hangs in the Balance
Due to the massive success that Netflix has had, the TV landscape is changing. Network executives and studios are having to adapt to a new business model of producing and distributing shows, which has, of course, come to a head with where and how money is allocated.
As studios are fighting to own more rights to stream the shows they picked up, your getting to binge watch something like a new season of Arrested Development, Louie, etc. might be in jeopardy. Click the link for the full story at Vulture.
It’s official as we started this website on Oct. 25th, 2010 that we are 3 years old now.
As cliché as it sounds, we had no idea that we’d be here where we are in the LA Comedy Scene/the art form of comedy or that we’d be throwing an amazing anniversary show with a packed house that all donated to us or that so many comedians, comedy fans, managers, agents, industry execs, bookers, people, etc. would come to know, love, and rely on what we do here at The Comedy Bureau.
It makes us feel pretty great, you guys, like we’re doing something that isn’t just a fleeting fever dream.
So, thank you to all who came out last night at Echoes Under Sunset (thanks to Chrsitian Chavez for running a great venue) and donated (or just enjoyed the show), the amazing comedians that are absolute favorites of ours (Sean O’Connor, Andres du Bouchet, Jeremy Paul, Kyle Kinane, Katie Crown, Davey Johnson, John Roy, Hasan Minhaj, and James Adomian), everyone who is a reader/user/supporter of the site in any capacity, and especially anyone who came out last night and wore a nice hat like our Bureau Director Jake Kroeger.
All in all, it seems like you like what we have going on here, so we going to keep doing it for years to come, hopefully bigger and better soon (“branches” of the bureau, etc.?).

It Seems That Paul F. Tompkins Will Be Doing a Panel Discussion Show with Puppets
This tweet at the link above and this picture seem to be evidence that Paul F. Tompkins will be appearing on the brand new Fusion network (that you can from your TV service provider starting tomorrow) doing a sort of panel discussion show with puppets called “No, You Shut Up" developed by former Daily Show writer David Javerbaum.
It’s premiering this Monday Oct. 28th at 9:30PM and we guess that will be what you will be watching because this sounds pretty fantastic even with how little details we have on it (like we don’t even know if Paul is the host, featured, or just appearing on the premiere episode).

Again, the Greatest Event in Television History premieres a third time on Nov. 7th. on Adult Swim.
Craig Ferguson to Host Syndicated CBS Game Show ‘Celebrity Name Game’
So, Craig Ferguson will be hosting both The Late Late Show as well as this upcoming game show over at CBS, which, we’d hope that he runs as loosely as he does his talk show.
Like the Louis C.K. model has encouraged comedians to produce and distribute specials on their own, would this almost be a result of the Chris Hardwick model of hosting multiple things on TV at once?
Though there is next to nothing on their site about it and just some random tweets, this picture of Paul F. Tompkins in front of a TV screen on set, “No, You Shut Up” supposedly with puppets and Paul F. Tompkins is premiering tonight at 9:30PM on Fusion (which is also launches tonight at 7:30PM-find it on your TV service provider here).
We’re ready to get to the bottom of this and perhaps find our new favorite show.

Emile Hirsch to Play John Belushi in Biopic
The John Belushi biopic is moving forward with the principal character cast in Emile Hirsch and, while they were certain other choices that already look and sound the part of the late Belushi, let’s hope for award caliber performance like he gave in Into The Wild.

Celebrate Conan O’Brien’s 20 Years as a Late Night Talk Show Host with Some of His Best Moments

This Is Not Happening with Ari Shaffir Season 2 Premieres Next Week
One of the best storytelling web series, This Is Not Happening with Ari Shaffir, returns for a second season starting next Tues. Nov. 5th and releasing episodes on Tuesdays after that at CC:Studios. There will be almost unbelievable stories (almost because they actually happened) from Kurt Braunohler, Fortune Feimster, Kumail Nanjiani, Trevor Moore, Moshe Kasher, Steve Rannazzisi, and more.
If you have no idea what we’re talking about, please familiarize yourself with season 1 that includes stories of TJ Miller almost dying from a brain hemorrhage and Sean Patton getting gay bashed as a straight man.
Since The Pete Holmes Show premiered yesterday, Pete got some “sage” advice from none other than Jon Stewart on the set of The Daily Show in order to prepare for the long haul.
There is a only a handful of people that, as late night guests, are so great that they don’t really need anything to promote, but rather just get to be their funny, weird, memorable selves.
For our money, Steven Wright is one of those people as we hope you have seen throughout the years. If not, just check him out last night on Conan being Steven Wright talking his face not matching his thoughts, butterfly hunting, and his Twitter novel.

It’s really hard to argue that comedy isn’t best enjoyed in an intimate space, which is why we have been very keen on Sarah Silverman’s latest HBO special We Are Miracles that was taped at Largo’s Little Room that has a maximum capacity well below the main room’s of around 300.
Just look at this latest promo to see how nice to very simply watch comedy in that small of a venue and also realize that we’re all going to get to watch a new Sarah Silverman stand up special on Nov. 23rd on HBO 10PM.
Ron Burgundy to Appear on ‘Conan’
Next month, we can only begin to imagine the type of tomfoolery that Ron Burgundy will bring to Conan as a planned guest next month, given his track record of just randomly announcing stuff on the show as a surprise.
Rare do these two mix, but plenty of people will surely be making .gifs while sipping on scotch while this is happening.
