When it comes to comedy, one of Fusion’s favorite things to do is documentary specials hosted by or focused around individual comedians.

Their latest docu-special will come from the marvelous Baron Vaughn embarking on a search for his absentee father. Called Fatherless, you can get a glimpse of the long and winding road that Baron takes in this trailer

Fatherless premieres on Fusion on Sunday, April 2nd at 9PM.

This might be a more fun roast than many of the high profile celebrity roasts over the last few years as Snoop isn’t widely annoyed by a bunch of people and plenty of friends will be roasting him.

Fusion, Russell Simmons’ All Def Digital, and Merry Jane are teaming up to put a roast of the one and only Snoop Dogg cleverly called Snoop Dogg Smokeout.

From the press release: The Roast and Birthday Celebration Will be Hosted by Mike Epps and Feature a Lineup of Celebrities and Special Appearances Including T.I., Terry Crews, Martha Stewart, Sanaa Lathan, French Montana, LL Cool J, Seth Rogen, Tracy Morgan and More

The special event is set to be televised this Saturday, December 10th at 10PM. Here’s a fun promo that gets actually gets mogul Simmons in on the fun.

The dry, sarcastic bent of The Onion is making an entire election special that will air on Fusion. From the looks of this preview, it’ll have the look of a normal sort of traditional news deep dive on this election, but with appropriate cursing and satire.

The Onion Presents The Iconic Images of Election 2016 is set to premiere on Friday, October 21st at 9PM on Fusion right after the Chris Cubas-1 percenter docu-special Chris Gets Money and right before a Bassem Youssef special called Muslim Invasion.

Chris Cubas Tries to See What the 1% Is Up to in “Chris Gets Money” Fusion Docu-Special

Uncategorized

Fusion wants to explore the notion of how unbalanced income inequality in the U.S. is. Of course, they, like so many other investigatory and eductional docu-specials and docu-series these days, have gotten a funny person to frame the special around.

For exploring the lives of the 1%, Fusion got Austin’s Chris Cubas and gave him $30,000 to spend over 30 days (i.e. live like and “infiltrate” that 1%).

His findings were all shot and edited into a special that’s called Chris Gets Money that will premiere on Fusion on Friday, October 21st at 8PM.

The likelihood that this will instantly solve income inequality in this country is unlikely, but watching Cubas ball out of control will probably be pretty fun.

As Bernie Sanders has effectively dropped out of the presidential race, Anthony Atamanuik and James Adomian, the duo behind Trump vs Bernie, have to put their brilliant political comedy minds to use in another direction right now.

That direction now happens to be a parody of Chris Matthews, played by Adomian, interviewing a panel of Senator John McCain, Marco Rubio, and Reince Priebus, respectively played by Atamanuik, Ithamar Enriquez, and John Mihiser.

Together, they try to turn a blind eye while the Republican National Convention welcomes Donald Trump as their presidential nominee.

We’re not sure exactly why Fusion is pulling the plug on this show, but we’re sad to see No, You Shut Up! with Paul F. Tompkins get the ax.

According to this blog post, NYSU host Paul F. Tompkins got the call that Fusion has just officially cancelled the show.

For our money, No, You Shut Up! was a jewel in their programming line-up and we have a hard time imagining what sort of show would fill in this slot.

For now, you can watch a giant archive and enjoy the 3 & ¼ seasons on YouTube.

Fusion Partners with The Onion to Develop Weekly “A.V. Club” Series

(via Deadline)

We’re intrigued to see how much satire or snark versus genuine coverage gets put on this show.

Since Univision owns Fusion outright now and also now has controlling stake in The Onion, it would only seem natural for the two properties to collaborate given their focus on a specific niche of millennials. The idea that No, You Shut Up with Paul F. Tompkins and an A.V. Club weekly series being on the same network makes sense.

So, that is what is going to happen.

The Onion’s almost non-satirical pop-culture off-shoot, The A.V. Club, is getting its own weekly show developed for Fusion, which will take on pop culture, music, etc. with that clever edge that they’ve honed for years.

We’ll find out if they’ll be able to translate their Internet credibility to Fusion soon.
