NBC Reviving ‘American Comedy Awards’ After 13 Years
Strangely, the American Comedy Awards are not only being revived, but changing hands as it was originally at ABC. We’re not sure what this new awards special will bring, how much it will honor ratings versus acclaim, but, as far as we know, Comedy Central is still doing their own Comedy Awards, which makes us wonder which one would be the Oscars of comedy versus the Golden Globes/Emmys of comedy.

Paul Feig to Produce Animated ‘Peanuts’ Feature for Fox
Charlie Brown is hitting the big screen as seen by the one and only Paul Feig. The fact that it’s not live action is a good start (i.e. Smurfs), but we’re also excited that someone like Feig is overseeing the adaptation.
So, here’s to hoping there will be a long montage of Charlie Brown missing kicking a football.
As a pastime, many people dress up as Civil War soldiers and pretend to live through battles of the time.
However, they tend to overlook that slavery detail, which very funny Totally Biased writer Dwayne Kennedy is more than happy to bring up.

GOP Chair Loses His Job After Daily Show Interview
It’s honestly surprising that this hasn’t happened way more often with The Daily Show as the correspondents get a lot of moments where whatever politician, government official, etc. say something that they should immediately regret.
GOP Chair Don Yelton did that very thing commenting on voting districts during an interview with Daily Show correspondent Aasif Mandvi, losing his position, and offered up another example of what could be called “gonzo comedy”.
Keith Malley of the Keith and the Girl having 9 comedy albums under his belt already decided to do something a little different from his 10th by doing a performance of his best material from those previous records, but done clean… well, trying to do it clean anyway. As far as we know, no comedian has ever attempted that or, more importantly, pulled it off in a really funny way.

The final episode of Chioke Nassor’s Storytime at Above Average features none other than Jonathan Ames who, before he did his HBO show Bored to Death, answered a personal ad for someone looking to box.

After Jon Hamm dying, getting into fights with Amy Poehler, we can’t think of what Adam Scott will do with Kathryn Hahn in his next Greatest Event in Television History in two weeks at Adult Swim.
Maybe after this, he’ll do a movie version and do a shot for shot remake of the opening title sequence of Better Off Dead?

Fox Buys Retirement Home Comedy From Kelly Oxford
This is yet another move for Fox’s comedy slate that is more and more enticing everyday.
With Mulaney going to series, Brooklyn Nine-Nine getting a full season, developing a game show with Steve Carell, and now a comedy project set in a retirement home from Kelly Oxford, Fox is definitely giving their comedy branding a nice new shine .
Colin Quinn has recently stepped up in his comedy career by putting together a touring one man show called Unconstitutional about the United States Constitution and while that seems simple enough, they’re so many subtleties that go into doing such a thing from just playing a comedy club.
Watch this latest episode Scott Moran’s Modern Comedian to see what those subtleties are and more.
If you’re fan of Dan Harmon and Rob Schrab’s Channel 101, one of the most hilarious and bizarre things to grace their screen was a video simply named “going to the store” by David Lewandowski that was part of an anthology series called Everything that on it’s own tallied over 14 million views on YouTube.

The Halloween edition of Conan O’Brien’s Clueless Gamer had Conan O’Brien go into PC game territory and play what are considered some of the more scary games you can play.

Adam McKay Would Like to Release Second Version of ‘Anchorman 2′ With Over 200 New Jokes
As you’d imagine, there’s so much goofing around on the set of the Anchorman sequel, that there would be a whole movie worth of off script genius.
Turns out that was exactly the case and Adam McKay would like to release that whole other version to theaters.
Thanks to Ron Babcock and Michael Truly, one of our favorite web series to watch is the “Why Would You Eat That Challenge?” and we’re glad they’re back for a whole rounds of new episodes.

As Networks and Netflix Face Off, Your Ability to TV Binge Watch Hangs in the Balance
Due to the massive success that Netflix has had, the TV landscape is changing. Network executives and studios are having to adapt to a new business model of producing and distributing shows, which has, of course, come to a head with where and how money is allocated.
As studios are fighting to own more rights to stream the shows they picked up, your getting to binge watch something like a new season of Arrested Development, Louie, etc. might be in jeopardy. Click the link for the full story at Vulture.
It’s official as we started this website on Oct. 25th, 2010 that we are 3 years old now.
As cliché as it sounds, we had no idea that we’d be here where we are in the LA Comedy Scene/the art form of comedy or that we’d be throwing an amazing anniversary show with a packed house that all donated to us or that so many comedians, comedy fans, managers, agents, industry execs, bookers, people, etc. would come to know, love, and rely on what we do here at The Comedy Bureau.
It makes us feel pretty great, you guys, like we’re doing something that isn’t just a fleeting fever dream.
So, thank you to all who came out last night at Echoes Under Sunset (thanks to Chrsitian Chavez for running a great venue) and donated (or just enjoyed the show), the amazing comedians that are absolute favorites of ours (Sean O’Connor, Andres du Bouchet, Jeremy Paul, Kyle Kinane, Katie Crown, Davey Johnson, John Roy, Hasan Minhaj, and James Adomian), everyone who is a reader/user/supporter of the site in any capacity, and especially anyone who came out last night and wore a nice hat like our Bureau Director Jake Kroeger.
All in all, it seems like you like what we have going on here, so we going to keep doing it for years to come, hopefully bigger and better soon (“branches” of the bureau, etc.?).
