The Final Series Finale of Futurama Airs Tonight

It’s only fitting to accompany FXx’s television debut tonight with the exit of something as momentous, which just happens to be the very last series finale (not something that very many TV shows could ever say) of Futurama.

Tune in at 9:30PM on Comedy Central to catch it and don’t forget about pre- and post- shows hosted by Chris Hardwick.

Cameron Esposito Makes Great Late Night Stand Up Debut in Front of Jay Leno and Craig Ferguson

Amongst the huddles of comedians, there are comparatively very few, especially nowadays, who make it to doing a set on a late night talk show. Even rarer is doing a great set, prompting the host to call them over to the couch and chat.

Much more rare, probably because it has never happened, is that when a comedian is called over to the couch by Craig Ferguson with Jay Leno sitting beside him after they interjected, admittedly like Statler and Waldorf, during a set that was going pretty great, then hear Leno say, “White men are on their way out! Lesbians rule!”

Well, that’s exactly what happened to the wonderful Cameron Esposito last night when making her late night debut on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and it was pretty damn hilarious and amazing.

Please watch it here now.

Currently, as part of Netflix’s expansion in stand up specials, Doug Stanhope’s latest hour Beer Hall Putsch can be seen exclusively on Netflix.

Yet, for those of you who don’t a Netflix subscription, for whatever reason, will be able to pick up a copy as an album on Sept. 17th in two weeks or as a DVD in November.

The waiting may already be long, but just Google what beer hall putsch is, if you don’t already know, and be entertained solely at the possibility of what Stanhope has to say about that.

The very funny Candice Thompson and Brenda Colonna are branching out for their sketch group/series Creepy Caress to have a podcast at the Toadhop Network. Somewhat along the lines of a traditional radio show (it will stream every Thursday at 5PM PST) and a fresh departure from comedians just talking about comedy with other comedians, there will be sketches, guest comedians/artists riffing, and an anti-talk show aspect (we’re not sure if that means destroying desks like Eric Andre does on The Eric Andre Show, but we’re sure it’ll be a lot of fun).

Offarious (yes, that’s the melding of offensive and hilarious) launches today at 5PM and you can subscribe here.

Kevin Pollak Getting Into the Comedy Documentary Game

Kevin Pollak (who has his own podcast and has done a comedy special) is indeed going forward with a documentary about comedy, specifically digging at the process/minds of comedians/comedic actors/etc. like Jim Gaffigan or Christopher Guest or Lisa Kudrow.

If the growth in interest of how comedy works via documentaries exploring comedy doesn’t confirm a current boom in comedy, then we honestly don’t know what will.

Hannibal Buress Brings His “Gibberish Rap” vs. Actual Rapper Bun B

Minus the Hartford controversy, there’s plenty of great hijinks being had at Funny or Die’s Oddball Comedy & Oddity Festival/Tour.

For instance, while Oddball stopped in Houston, Hannibal Buress made fun of some rap lyrics, specifically some by Bun B, then get confronted by Bun B, then doing a rendition of Hannibal’s single “Gibberish Rap” in response to Bun B asking how Hannibal can critique lyrics when he’s a comedian.

Watch it all go down here.

Eliza Coupe, Demetri Martin, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Charlyne Yi Join ‘The Last Time You Had Fun’

Here’s another case of an indie comedy getting another delightful ensemble of a cast that has the potential to be a dark horse of a movie if it ever see a theatrical release.

This sort of makes us curious if indie comedy are greenlit, not so much on the main cast, but on how many cameos of really funny people they can get attached on their project nowadays.

You might think that because of their far reaching powers that the NSA is immune from the stereotypical red tape attributed to the slowness of government agencies. Rest assured (or actually don’t, because they shouldn’t be slow) that the NSA has their own version of bureaucratic obstacles that often goes beyond paperwork and security clearance as shown in the latest episode of Wired’s great web series, Codefellas with Emiliy Heller and John Hodgman.

Watch it and learn what the NSA is really up to here.

Aziz Ansari, Christopher Guest, Aubrey Plaza, and More to Appear at New Yorker Fest 2013

If you still have doubts as to the merits of comedy as an art form, having a substantial part in renowned culture publication The New Yorker’s New Yorker Fest should be a good reference point to start thinking otherwise.

Boosting their comedy programming from last year to include several panels, presentations, and more (including a talk about comedy and politics from comedic genius Armando Ianucci), maybe comedy is starting to get the respect it deserves.

The Westside Comedy Theater Launching Its Own Comedy Podcast Network

Whether the dust is still being rustled up or clearing from the comedy podcast boom is unsure, but the model of gathering podcasts under the umbrella of a network seems to be a worthwhile path for the medium right now.

Next week, Santa Monica’s Westside Comedy Theater is starting its very own podcast network with many really funny comedians that have made their way through the LA comedy scene over the last few years including: Rob Gleeson, Mr. Goodnight, Tom Sibley, Josh Covitt, Chase Bernstein, Tushar Singh, Neel Nanda and more.

They’re having a free launch party next week on Thurs. to meet all their new podcasters at 7PM if you’re curious (and we’re suggesting that you should be)
