Chris Hardwick to Develop BBC America Show Based on Nerdist Podcast | THR
Comedian Chris Hardwick has inked a deal with BBC America to develop a pilot based on his popular Nerdist podcast, it was announced Monday.
The pilot will be a panel talk show hosted by Hardwick. The show will cover all things relative to geek culture from L.A. to London and feature celebrity guests with their own nerd obsessions. Hardwick will serve as an executive producer along with K.P. Anderson (The Soup) and Jay James.
Hardwick has also been tapped to host the network’s Saturday night comedy block, “Ministry of Laughs,” which launches June 18 at 10 p.m. His company, Nerdist Industries, and Comcast Entertainment Studios will produce the “Ministry” pieces and the show.
Hardwick, who is a self-proclaimed Doctor Who fan, has hosted several events for the hit U.K. series. His pilot/special will be a BBC America original program.
I hope Jonah Ray and Matt Mira are involved.
Comedy Nerds Unite!: funny females: comedienne or comedian?
Comedy Nerds Unite!: funny females: comedienne or comedian?

I remember when I was first getting into comedy in the early 2000’s hearing the term “comedienne” in reference to female comedians a lot. I somewhat enjoyed the term and started using that word to describe what I wanted to be when I grew up.

Whether “comedian” or “comedienne” is used should have little significance other than the person in question should be funny enough to have a job description of making people laugh. Just like Splitsider is saying that Bridesmaids is funny without the need of any qualifiers, the distinction of whether you’re female or male shouldn’t matter as long as you’re hilarious on a consistent basis.
That’s actually the bigger debate: What do you need to do to actually be called a comedian, comedienne, comic, stand up, comedic performer, funny person, etc.?

TUE May 24: Molly McAleer
Molls is a true pioneer, but instead of hittin’ the Oregon Trail (though with her mad computer skills she probably won the game), she was one of the first to tame the wild tubes of Internet. She’s an actress, a writer and a World Wide Web mogul.
Dave vidchats with Molly about her new web show, The Download, and her new web project with partner Zooey Deschanel, Hello Giggles. There’s also an incredible mural and quite possibly a cameo by the one and only Wagnstuff. Enjoy!

I Love L.A: By Garrison Keillor
It used to be that Los Angelenos were much too cool to express outright pride in their city, feeling that boosterism is for yahoos from the Midwest, but when I was there last week I got an earful about what a good place it is from friends who never said anything like that to me before….
To that I say, fuck “Crash” (not the Cronenberg one).
