Smart move, TBS.

Full Frontal with Samantha Bee hit the ground running as the latest addition to the late night world. Bee’s take-no-prisoners humor that breaks down current issues every week has garnered a solid viewership, especially online (as we’re sure you’ve seen the clips or gif set of her segments posted several places in your social media feeds).

So, TBS has picked up Full Frontal to the end of the year.

That will continue the great Sun-Mon. Daily Show with Jon Stewart alum combo of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and Full Frontal with Samantha Bee that we’ve all got to enjoy.

With Reunited, Josh Androsky and Bryan Cook have devised a faux panel discussion series that brings together the cast of a sitcom that never existed. On top of that, the real comedians that were supposedly on said sitcom have no idea what that sitcom was called or what it was about until the show starts.

As you might imagine, the behind-the-scenes of the sitcom wasn’t a happily-ever-after story, which makes for a really “great” reunion.

The latest edition has James Urbaniak, Baron Vaughn, Hampton Yount, and a special guest.

It’s going down at 8:30PM on Friday, April 8th at The Hollywood Improv Comedy Lab and tickets are only $5.

Despite recent unfavorable reviews and pieces written about The Daily Show’s new host, Trevor Noah, the heads of Comedy Central want to assure you that they’re still jazzed about Noah and where he could take the show.

This week’s Comedy Central Upfronts presentation had Network President Michelle Ganeless and Original Programming Chief Kent Alterman commenting on the reception of Noah after a few months of hosting The Daily Show. They redoubled the confidence in their choice by saying, “We fully believe in him, we feel like he keeps finding his voice more and more,” and adding that they have “a deep reservoir of patience”.

If you’re in the camp that pines for the days of Jon Stewart, you should know that there’s plenty of that to be had with Daily Show with Jon Stewart alums John Oliver and Samantha Bee and their respective shows Last Week Tonight and Full Frontal.

Cue Drake’s Started From the Bottom.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia has been a stalwart for years over at FX Networks. The show has even survived going from FX to anchoring the birth of the sister network, FXx.

Now, almost 11 years after its series premiere, Always Sunny is getting a 13th and 14th season and will now tie The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet for the title of television’s longest live running live action comedy series.

Time will only tell, but perhaps they’ll even get to South Park or Simpsons territory.

–“Casey Vs.” (script deal) – Casey Jost one-ups “Man vs. Wild” in the most extreme survival guide ever made and teaches viewers how to handle everything from the zombie apocalypse to an alien invasion.

–“GERP” (script deal) – Produced by Jack Black’s Electric Dynamite and co-written by Dick Blasucci (“Mad TV”) and Janine DeTullio (“Late Night wtih Jimmy Fallon”), this show within a show follows a federal worker who hosts a government produced variety TV show from inside his cubicle during the work day.

–“New Timers” (script deal) – based on the Comedy Central Digital series, “New Timers” takes place following an apocalyptic “event.” Matt Porter and Charlie Hankin, who create, star, executive produce and direct the series, now live their day-to-day in what’s left of Brooklyn, looking for adventures, new friends and ways to pass the time.
-“Tijuana Beach” (script deal) – this animated project follows a Mexican American father who inherits a rundown resort from his uncle and relocates his family to Mexico.
–“Used People” (script deal) – based on the Comedy Central digital series written by Michelle Wolf and Dan Soder, “Used People” follows uptight Michelle and stoner Dan who spend their days arguing, obsessing over their messy personal lives and – theoretically – selling used cars.

We’re really excited to see The Goddamn Comedy Jam, Roast Battle, hour stand-up specials from Kurt Braunohler, Joe DeRosa, another one from Trevor Moore and Dan Soder, and what Jordan Klepper and Jessica Williams will do with their new deals.

Also, from the sound of Moshe Kasher and Rob Huebel’s pilots, we hope that they get to see the light of day past being a pilot.

Last year, Todd Glass got a chance to take make a TV pilot out of his wondrous podcast known as The Todd Glass Show.

Unfortunately, It didn’t get picked up.

We’re not quite sure why as Glass really made his free-wheeling format fly with a plethora of bits and bits within bits and bits about running away from bits, Eddie Pepitone living in a van, sweaty karaoke, James Adomian voicing a more sinister Dr. Phil, and more.

Luckily, we get to see a short version of the pilot thanks to Jake Adams runs the sound effects, a very intergral part of the show, on The Todd Glass Show.

Comedy Central Has Cancelled Moonbeam City

Well, Comedy Central has renewed a lot and ordered a lot more new stuff. It would seem inevitable that something had to give. Unfortunately, it was the neon-blazoned, over-the-top action comedy Moonbeam City from Scott Gairdner.

Gairdner himself posted a message this morning:

Well, it’s time to let the sad cat out of the shit-covered bag. Comedy Central is not renewing Moonbeam City. It’s a gigantic bummer- this show was beyond a blast to make. We had enough ideas to last a bunch more seasons, and I’ll always be disappointed we didn’t get to see how fast this baby could really go.

I remain incredibly proud of these 10 episodes and the beautiful, brilliant work of the mad geniuses at Titmouse. To any fans reading this, thanks for joining the weird dumb adventures of Dazzle, Pizzaz, Chrysalis, Rad, Sizzle Conrad, Interrobot, Terabyte, Code, & Numbers. Your artwork and tweets and cosplay and even your porn meant so much to me. Please keep spreading the word- if the cult grows, maybe we’ll get to do another season in 15 years, when none of us are funny anymore.

Stay tuned- more dumb stuff to come.

Thanx,

SG/MBC

We have no doubt that Gairdner has something else great in the works.
