Here’s the Trailer for “David Brent: Life on the Road”

April 8, 2016
Uncategorized
david brent: life on the road, trailer

Ricky Gervais’ David Brent and his, let’s say, singular sense of humor are back and are already making people in offices scatter in passive terror.

The trailer for the rock mockumentary, David Brent: Life on the Road, is finally here.

Brent’s gone on to make his way in the music industry and not really changing one thing about himself in the process even though he probably thinks otherwise.

Right now, there is only a UK release date for Aug. 19th. We imagine that this will not be the case for long.

The Peabody Awards are on track to getting mentioned in the same conversation as the Emmys, the Golden Globes, etc. on top of being the prestigious awards that they have always been.

Having shifted from an afternoon announcement to a telecast and a whole evening affair, The Peabody Awards have really stepped up their game since 2015. Last year, they had Fred Armisen host and now they’re having another high profile comedian in Keegan-Michael on board to host this year.

The actual event will happen on Saturday, May 21st, but there will be a special that will air a few weeks later on June 6th at 8PM on Pivot.

Sequel to Galaxy Quest Not Moving Forward at Amazon After the Passing of Alan Rickman

Finally, there’s some restraint in Hollywood.

The swell of sequels, remakes and reboots in movies and TV continues strong as ever these days. Often times, the death of a crucial cast member often won’t stop such plans no matter how awkward the finished product might be.

That being said, the recently deceased Alan Rickman has halted the plans for the supposed Galaxy Quest sequel that was in the works over at Amazon Studios. Sam Rockwell, who was on board for a sequel, made the announcement while on the latest episode of the Nerdist podcast.

While more Galaxy Quest might not be in the cards for us, it’s a great nod to how incredibly singular Alan Rickman really was.

Luckily, Ilana Glazer, Paul W. Downs, and Lucia Aniello are bringing us all a mini-series event, Time Traveling Bong, that will show us all such a world.

This 4/20 special is so epic, it’ll air over three nights starting, of course, on 4/20 on Comedy Central.

Nikki Glaser Explains How Little We Care About Maiden Names in Her New Hour Special

One of the sticking points of marriage that probably doesn’t get brought up enough is the one of a wife automatically taking her husband’s last name, leaving her last name out in the cold.

Fortunately, Nikki Glaser perfectly shines a light on the issue in her new hour Comedy Central special “Perfect” and illustrates how little we collectively regard a maiden name.

Oh yeah, you should definitely watch Perfect when it premieres on Saturday, April 9 at 11PM on Comedy Central. It’s damn good.

Full Frontal with Samantha Bee and Angie Tribeca seems to be off and running quite well, so TBS is now setting its sights to launching its latest series, The Detour from Daily Show alums and comedy power couple Jason Jones and Samantha Bee.

For starters, the network is starting off nicely by putting the entire pilot on YouTube before the premiere next week.

If that gets you hooked, catch the premiere at 9PM on Monday, April 11th on TBS.

This week, Combs made a surprise appearance for the first time on the cable TV version of TCGS after Gethard lost out on his initial guest.

From the looks of it, the show was all the better for it as things like Zach Galifianakis calling in and challenging Diddy happened.

Over the last few years, there have been several multi cam sitcoms that were cancelled in their first season. In fact, it was so many that it left many wondering if multi cam was on its way out as a viable comedy series format.

The Carmichael Show has proven otherwise and Jerrod Carmichael offered some insight on why that might be during his appearance on last night’s Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Jason Reitman, Diablo Cody, and Charlize Theron Are Teaming Up Again Five Years After “Young Adult”

(via Variety)

If you’ve seen über-dark comedy Young Adult, you know that there’s probably something really exciting the Reitman, Cody, and Theron have going.

In 2011, director Jason Reitman, writer Diablo Cody, and star Charlize Theron brought us all the dark comedy gem Young Adult that followed the life of an out-of-control YA ghostwriter visiting her hometown. Together, they made Theron’s Mavis Gary almost as sinister as her turn in Monster and she didn’t need any prosthetics for it.

In 2016, the trio are teaming up again for something, though they’re keeping everything but the fact that they’re collaborating under wraps for now.

Not that you would need to watch/rewatch Young Adult, but you should definitely now go do that.

Most movies and TV shows want to stop some catastrophe from happening if they’re invoking the technology of time travel within their premise.

Party Over Here is here to show you that time travel can be used for other things that don’t have the fate of the planet hanging in the balance and are, honestly, more fun.

One of the recurring segments at The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that works best for us is Colbert’s rundown of events in small towns where his guests are from.

For Nick Offerman, Colbert and Nick go through the calendar of local events in Minooka, Illinois where Offerman grew up.

Of course, the event listings had every bit of small town charm and awkwardly written copy that you have to come to know and love from small town happenings.

Hulu Sets Premiere Dates for Second Seasons of “Casual” and “Difficult People”, 6/7 and 7/12

April 4, 2016

So far, Hulu has a solid summer in comedy lined up.

Hulu’s latest comedy series, Casual from Zander Lehmann and Difficult People from Julie Klausner, have probably garnered as much acclaim as the streaming service has gotten for an original comedy series up to this point.

Thus, setting their season 2 premiere dates in consecutive months shouldn’t come as a surprise. Also, since Hulu doesn’t stream all the episodes at once, you won’t run out of new episodes of original comedy for awhile at Hulu.

Look for new Casual starting June 6th and new Difficult People on July 12th.

Jessica Williams, Hasan Minhaj, Roy Wood Jr., Jordan Klepper, Ronnie Chieng, Desi Lydic, Al Madrigal, John Hodgman, Aasif Mandvi, and Adam Lowitt are the current members of the “best f#@king news team”, which is already pretty impressive.

Now they’ll be getting even better with the addition Wolf as a contributor and writer. She has been a highlight of Late Night with Seth Meyers with all of her segments and characters that have been featured throughout.

Whenever Wolf’s Daily Show debut is, be sure to catch it.
