Oh yeah, David Wain is also directing.

Netflix is adapting Josh Karp’s book A Futile and Stupid Gesture: How Doug Kenney and National Lampoon Changed Comedy Forever into a full length feature biopic, which is already enticing by itself.

The ensemble cast that has been assembled has been kind of a dream team with the aforementioned Green, Lennon, Daly, Forte, McHale, Walsh, Gemberling, Gleeson, and Mull along with Natasha Lyonne being the latest to sign on.

With Wain at the helm, A Futile and Stupid Gesture is as buzzworthy as it can get before production has even started.

Watch him do just that with Lance Bangs’ Flophouse at Viceland.

This Mad TV revival along with Party Over Here makes it seem like sketch comedy is having a revival on network television.

John Oliver Trolls Credit Report Firms by Doing Exactly What They Do Right Back at Them

The extra mile that John Oliver and his team at Last Week Tonight go might be cause for a new awards category.

This week’s episode of Last Week Tonight had Oliver break down credit reporting firms and how they can, for a small, but notable percentage of the time, ruin people’s lives by publishing a credit report riddled with errors. One of the major errors is being confused for another person entirely and vice versa due to a somewhat, yet barely similar resemblance in the name.

Knowing that a bad credit report can make it more difficult trying to get a job, a house, etc. So, Oliver is giving credit report forms a taste of their own medicine by launching sites that sound like Experian or Equifax.

His team and himself have set up websites for TramsOnion.com, Experianne, and EquiFacks to highlight how the margin for error should be as close to zero as possible rather than just generally being low.

Not only are the faux sites great in name, but their made-up purposes are the icing on the cake.

Conan O’Brien Did a Talk Show at DMZ, Guest Starred in Korean Soap Opera and K-Pop Song, and Tried Tae Kwon Do All While in Korea

The Conan in Korea special was pretty much everything you’d want it to be.

Not only do you get a great sense of how great Korea is and the history behind its people, but you also get to see things like Conan O’Brien do the string dance in a K-Pop music video.

Also on Conan’s itinerary was:
–being greeted like a rock star even though Conan doesn’t air in Korea
–annoying another foreign language instructor
–galavanting around a local fish market
–guest starring in a Korean soap opera with a very Conan-esque role
–hang at a Korean gaming cafe known as a “PC Bang”
–being goaded into breaking boards while trying Tae Kwon Do
–discovering that Steven Yeun doesn’t know as much about Korean food as he had hoped
–uncovering that certain Buddhist monks are more with the times than he thought
–doing a faux talk show ‘North Korea style’ while having his feet over in North Korean territory at the Joint Security Area

All in all, O’Brien proves yet again that he’s a great ambassador even though he’s intentionally parading around like a very tall clown.

This week, Geoff Tate came out with his third album, Again, from Rooftop Comedy and it’s best hour of stand-up yet.

Tate has gotten sharper and more detailed in his personal observations for this record, but that doesn’t take away from his overall laid back stage persona. Thus, the hour is more cleverly crafted than you might be aware of as Tate’s easygoing delivery has a certain, undeniable charm.

Listen to two tracks to hear it for yourself.

Again is available on iTunes and at Rooftop Comedy now.

When we used “one hell of a…” in the headline, we didn’t mean that in a good way.

Those Who Can’t’s latest episode has all of the teachers being forced into going to prom to make up for the utter disaster that it was last year.

Of course, this prom that’s in the works doesn’t seem much better at all since they’re more concerned with their dates than the actual running of the prom meant for the students.

Comedians seeing if they can hack it at various day jobs is almost always is a good starting point for a show.

MTV has just ordered an unscripted comedy pilot, Backup Plan, where stand-up comedian Leonard Ouzts will be trying different jobs with the idea that his 15 minutes of fame might be up soon and he’ll have to get a day job outside of comedy again.

Hopefully, this will fill that void left by Comedy Central not going forward with the show that had Hannibal Buress doing various hard jobs.

This is on at the same time as Nikki Glaser’s hour special, so you should just DVR one or the other.

Watch Ellen DeGeneres’ Thoughts on Mississippi’s ‘Religious Freedom Law’, HB 1523

Earlier this week, Mississippi’s governor Phil Bryant signed HB 1523, one of the most discriminatory pieces of anti-LGBT legislation in recent memory, into law. The law gives a blanket protection to those who wish to discriminate against LBGT individuals on the basis of “religious freedom” in a number of instances.

Ellen DeGeneres, of all people, was not going to be quiet about it and gave an equally rousing and sweet statement about the unfortunate turn of events on her show.

Watch it here and realize this is all happening in 2016 for some reason.
