Rom Com Thriller Series “Run” from Vicky Jones with Phoebe Waller-Bridge in the Works
You fell in love with her in her own series Fleabag and now Phoebe Waller-Bridge will be one of the stars in a series that starts off with exes honoring a pact of running away together after getting a text message from one to the other that simply reads, “RUN!”
Vicky Jones is a past collaborator of Waller-Bridge’s and, knowing only these few details, we sincerely hope this series gets made sooner rather than later and then, quickly finds its way to the U.S.
Drunk History Gets Renewed for Sixth Season at Comedy Central
“Y’all serious?
Thank you to everyone who has worked and or supported this little show become what it is. Congrats to the best cast and crew in town! Let’s do this shit again. 16 episodes?! Ok fine #drunkhistory”
-@derekwaterss
That’s right, one of TV’s most entertaining history lessons will officially be getting a sixth season. Hopefully, this will bring about less repeating of history than has happened in the last year.
One of the first really big gigs that Judd Apatow got was coming aboard The Larry Sanders Show. As such, Garry Shandling played a significant role in his life beyond just being a big time fixture in comedy to admire from afar.
The passing of Shandling came and went quickly, without very much warning, but Garry’s life and career are something to marvel at.
To show people how marvelous it really was, he made an in-depth documentary featuring personal journals, video, etc. coupled with conversations with those closest to Shandling.
The result is The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling. You can get a taste of how deep Apatow goes with this trailer.
Look for the premiere on Mon., March 26 at 8PM on HBO.

Ali Siddiq’s new special It’s Bigger Than These Bars premieres on Comedy Central at 11PM this Friday.
Siddiq performed and taped this special in front of an audience of inmates at a jail, which is made doubly interesting by the fact that Siddiq used to be incarcerated. Also, Siddiq has tapped his experiences and distilled them into damn funny stories.
While you’re waiting for the special to drop, you can see Ali chat with Desus & Mero about the whole process of making it and more here.
Michelle Wolf Will Be Hosting the Next White House Correspondents Dinner
Michelle Wolf’s star keeps rising with a new late night show coming at Netflix and the gig of hosting this year’s White House Correspondents Dinner. She definitely is game for the task of roasting news outlets and the government, the main task for the host of the WHCD.
As Trump didn’t want to hear biting jokes at his expense delivered to his face, he skipped last year’s WHCD and with Wolf (a Daily Show alum and staunch feminist) on deck for this year, you can expect Trump to skip this one too.
In any case, we feel like Hasan Minhaj spared no fools in 2017 when he hosted and we’re pretty sure that Wolf will do the same, possibly even more so.

Nicole Byer is, if we may, the icing on the cake that will make this show work. Attempts at amazing snacks and treats by non-professional bakers like you and me is a fun cooking competition format, but Byer’s energy and charm are undeniable.
See for yourself in the trailer for Nailed It.
Comedy Cellar to Open a Location in Las Vegas
The venerable NYC comedy club known as The Comedy Cellar is opening up a location out West, specifically at The Rio in Las Vegas at the beginning of April.
“.@NYCComedyCellar will open its first West Coast location at @RioVegas April 5. The intimate 300-seat club “will be just like coming to the New York Comedy Cellar,” said club owner Noam Dworman.”
We’ll be curious to see how this plays out, specifically with where they’ll draw the majority of the comics from, how Vegas comics will factor in, and how close they get to being like original Comedy Cellar.
Netflix Secures Worldwide Rights to Next Four Movies from The Duplass Brothers
We wondering what The Duplass Brothers were up to after having a long dalliance with television over at HBO.
With Netflix’s ability to release a movie simultaneously in well-over 100 territories, don’t be surprised to see more and more indie auteurs, especially in the comedy space, find their way to Netflix.
By the way, one of these films includes a bromance comedy with made-up sports starring Ray Romano, which definitely has our interest peaked.
Thanks to writer/director Aaron Feldman and executive producers The Sklar Brothers, there is now an hour long documentary about one of the most taboo topics there is (that somehow connects us all): poop.
Poop Talk features stories and observations about scatology from comedians, celebrities, and scientists that study the human phenomenon. It not only enlightens, but breaks down stigma that so many people have about a thing that everyone goes through on a daily basis.
You’ll get to hear about dung from:
Kumail Nanjiani
Rob Corddry
Dr. Drew Pinsky
Eric Stonestreet
Paul Scheer
Aisha Tyler
Nick Swardson
Adam Carolla
Pete Holmes
Jason Sklar
Randy Sklar
Jamie Lee
Nikki Glaser
Here’s the trailer to show you that there’s nothing to be anxious about in watching a bunch of people talking about sh*tting for just over 60 minutes.
Poop Talk is now available on VOD (here on YouTube and here on iTunes) and is still playing at select theaters nationwide. Honestly, it’s kind of a life changing documentary, especially if you’re the sort of person still worried about going #2 in public.
Blair Socci’s show that was inspired by a letter she wrote to Owen Wilson over a decade ago makes its debut in LA!
The delightful line-up will be reading letters they wrote to celebrities of their choice, which should make for a great evening in seeing of comedians that you’ve probably never seen before.
Tickets are $5 and you can (and should) get tickets here.

Lisa Hanawalt, producer/production designer at BoJack Horseman (and a big reason that BoJack has the wonderful look that it does) has created her own series that will be released by Netflix called, Tuca & Bertie.
The series will follow “the friendship between two 30-year-old bird women who live in the same apartment building: Tuca, a cocky, care-free toucan, and Bertie, an anxious, daydreaming songbird.” Tiffany Haddish will be voicing Tuca.
So, The Odd Couple with two bird women, one of which will be voiced by the undeniable Haddish? Count us in.
There are great echoes of the field pieces of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart in this special, which shouldn’t come as a surprise as Jena used to produce said field pieces there.
What is amazing about Soft Focus is how Jena is so calm in her delivery the entire time (as if she has ice running through her veins), maximizing the awkwardness and absurdity of the interviews she set up. From that calmness, there comes an almost tangible, metaphorical twisting-of-the-knife in her conversations with real folks (that might need a bit of a metaphorical knife twisting to be honest). No matter how dark it gets, we still find ourselves laughing heartily.
So, please watch Soft Focus with Jena Friedman, which, we hope, will become a show itself very soon.

Jim Gaffigan Will Release His Next Stand-Up Special on His Own
It has been awhile since a big time comedian released their own comedy special independent from networks and streaming services.
Luckily, Jim Gaffigan will be releasing his sixth hour special by himself via various digital platforms/marketplaces and, given his appeal across several different demographics, we’re betting that’ll both do well.
Also, we’d be curious to see if Gaffigan gets a little more experimental since he’s releasing it on his own.
Not only should you buy a ticket to this show to raise money in the fight to end gun violence here in America, but the line-up, as you can see, is star-studded and the show will probably sell out very quickly.

Yes, there are a least four premieres you should be watching tonight that have nothing to do with the Winter Olympics.
Specifically, you should be checking out:
Nothing overlaps and all four shows will be comedically dealing with the times we’re living in wildly different approaches. That will range from thoughtful, but sharp interviews by Jena Friedman, in-depth deep dives by Oliver and his team, McHale making fun of the news that the rest of late night isn’t making fun of, and, of course, Eric Andre bugging people on the streets of Paris, France.
The fantastic wry, smart comedic stylings of Ireland’s Dylan Moran are coming through LA once again for another week long run at Largo with Dylan’s latest show Grumbling Mustard.
Moran has five shows line-up between Monday, March 19th and Friday, March 23rd at the lovely Largo at the Coronet Theatre and tickets are $40.
Do yourself a favor and go snag some tickets here.
For how damn funny Drew Tarver is (he’s made our 100 Best List before), a show of just him doing bits and solo sketches was inevitable.
This Tuesday, February 20th, will be when that time comes with Drew Tarver: Limited Range @ UCB Franklin (written by the fantastic writing duo Nick Ciarelli & Brad Evans)
Please get tickets here.

The debut album from Chicago-to-LA transplant Goodrich Gevaart has just released today and, in the spirit of disrupting traditional distribution models, Goodrich has opted for a digital copy of the album Portrait of a Young Weirdo to be accompanied by an actual limited edition 48 page zine. In the zine, you’ll get “timestamped commentary about the jokes in addition to lots of pictures and stories, and an interview with Rhea Butcher, whom Gevaart started comedy with six years ago.”
Also, it’s photo-copied if you’re somehow questioning its legitimacy as a zine.
It’s a great pairing to the album as both weave through Goodrich’s stories and observations of the quietly weird place that is the Midwest, specifically Indiana, with spryly delivered colorful detail.
By the way, this is one of our favorite pages of the zine.

The Last O.G. is yet another highly anticipated series up TBS’ sleeve as it not only marks the return of Tracy Morgan to a being TV series star, but it’s a series that’s co-created by Jordan Peele and features Tiffany Haddish as the co-star.
The show’s premise is simple enough with contrasting the Brooklyn of yesteryear to the Brooklyn of 2018 through Morgan’s character of a former prison inmate. Peele, Morgan, and Haddish together should have plenty of fun espousing their sensibilities within this comedic framework. This series could have been a multi-cam, but we are thankful that it’s not as that will open up the series to so much more possibility.
See for yourself in the trailer.
