Ali Wong Set to Publish a Book of Collected Letters to Her Daughter

Random House and Ali Wong have a struck deal for Ali’s first book, which will feature stories and lessons that Ali has learned throughout her life. All of that will be within the frame of letters to her baby daughter.

With Ali’s unapologetic brand of comedy, the letters might just be as satisfying to her daughter as any and all readers that pick up a copy.

The book doesn’t have a title yet, but it will be released sometime in 2018.

Judd Apatow Is Making a Documentary About Garry Shandling

The loss of Garry Shandling last year was devastating. The reverberations of his work are still being widely felt throughout comedy, especially when it comes to The Larry Sanders Show.

To honor his legacy, writer/director/producer Judd Apatow will be making a documentary about Shandling. In fact, Apatow is looking for any photos, videos, etc. that might help in the making of said doc.

No details as to when or where this might be released, but we will update you as soon as we can.

executive orders, john oliver, last week tonight, trump

Over five days last week, each executive order related to a story we’ve done in the past three years,” Oliver said Monday during a roundtable with journalists to promote the fourth season of the show, which bows Sunday. He called it a “depressing exercise” for his producers to re-tweet links to stories on the fate of Iraqi military translators, the immigrant visa application process, and financial industry rules governing retirement and investment programs (“wave goodbye to it as it sails away in the distance”), among other topics.

Here’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver YouTube page which features all of their deep dive pieces in case you want a comedic refresher of much of what’s at stake right now.

Also, take a deep breath, and realize that Last Week Tonight finally returns this Sunday.

For well over 300 episodes, Justin, Travis, and Griffin McElroy have had a damn good time dishing out unqualified advice on their own terms to their listeners on the My Brother, My Brother and Me podcast over at Maximum Fun.

Now, they’re going to have their own TV series on Seeso that upgrades the brothers to having adventures in their West Virginia hometown from the questions that they field.

This trailer looks like that they have a hell of a good time and promises plenty of delightful tomfoolery.

My Brother, My Brother and Me starts streaming on Seeso on Thursday, February 23rd.

The John Malkovich Squarespace Ad Is Our Favorite Super Bowl Commercial So Far

A good amount of Super Bowl commercials have already been released online before the actual Super Bowl broadcast.

Amongst those, there are plenty of subtle and (not so subtle) socio-political messages, broadly comedic, technologically impressive, and heartwarming ads.

For our money, the funniest one in that bunch before the telecast is this pair of John Malkovich-Squarespace ads that takes advantage of having the one and only John Malkovich in an ad.

Hopefully, we’ll get to find more laugh-worthy ads later today.

Watch the rest of those Super Bowl commercials here.

We admit that we’re a little late to the party here as Cristela Alonzo’s Lower Classy started streaming last week.

Still, you absolutely should give it a watch as Cristela gives an hour of stand-up that’s as truthful and funny as it is endearing in all of her observations and stories of her life of being uniquely herself between different worlds.

In fact, Lower Classy serves as a great, hilarious example of why Cristela should probably get another show of her own.

By the way, Netflix already is off to a hot start this year with comedy specials having Cristela’s right in line with specials from Neal Brennan and Bill Burr.

Follow That! pits comedians to the challenge of following a very emotional video being shown to the audience (i.e. troops coming home to the surprise of their family). Having any sort of very dramatic pause at a comedy show can prove very difficult, but the line-up with Chris Fairbanks, Nikki Glaser, Dan St. Germain, Nicole Byer, and Jon Huck for this show is pretty great. In any case, our curiosity is peaked as to see what might happen.

Tickets for Follow That! are $8 online and $10 at the door. You can (and should) tickets online here.

There Is a The Bowling Green Massacre Victims Donation Page That Does Lead to Something That Is Real and Worth Your Support

Kellyanne Conway has caught a lot of flack recently for citing the “Bowling Green Massacre” in defense of Trump’s travel and immigration ban. The flack comes from there not being any such thing as the Bowling Green Massacre.

The Internet as a whole has been having fun throwing shade on Kellyanne and this non-existent tragedy. One of the best “pranks” is this legitimate looking donation page that raises funds for the “victims of The Bowling Green Massacre” that just leads to the donation page for the ACLU.

By the way, BowlingGreenMassacre.com also leads to the ACLU homepage.

Oh, in case it wasn’t obvious, you should, if you can, donate to the ACLU.

Also, You Let Me Down will be available as an album from Comedy Central Records next week on Tuesday, February 7th.

They definitely look up to the task in this promo.

You can catch them hosting the Spirit Awards live on IFC on Saturday, February 25th at 2PM PST.

ABC Orders Pilot of Multi Cam Sitcom “Household Name” Starring Carol Burnett and Produced by Amy Poehler

A family moves into their dream house that just happens to come with a larger than life actress played by none other than living comedy legend Carol Burnett.

The project called, “Household Name” just got a pilot order from ABC, but with Burnett and Poehler involved and broadcast networks still looking for the next big multi cam, it would be hard to imagine this not getting a series greenlight.

If you look closely, you’ll note that Michael Ian Black, Jessimae Peluso, and Reggie Watts are all guest bailiffs in Benson’s High Court that are also pretty baked as well.

Look for the series premiere of High Court on Monday, February 27th on Comedy Central.
