Chris Gethard’s Solo Show “Career Suicide” Will Air on HBO in May

When it comes to comedy specials, HBO still is a force to be reckoned with.

Despite Netflix nabbing specials from Chappelle, Rock, Seinfeld, and Schumer for this year, HBO choosing to release Chris Gethard comedy special from his Off-Broadway show could bode very well for them.

Also, please note how ironic the concept of something called “Career Suicide” being an HBO special is.

Rick and Morty Created a Site for the “Galactic Federation”

The details about season 3 of Rick and Morty are still murky, especially with the cliffhanger that they ended with.

However, Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland have made up an entire website for the interstellar governing body within the show known as the Galactic Federation. It offers up message boards and satirically parallel Internet articles that are supposedly from millions of light years away. Whether it be digging for clues or just enjoying the nuances of the Rick and Morty universe(s), it’s one step closer to season 3.

Explore it all here.

Jon Stewart also made his latest appearance on Colbert by taking some fashion cues from the new POTUS taking note of how Trump doesn’t know how to wear a tie correctly.

Oh, this is probably a good time to remember that Stewart still has something brewing at HBO for this year.

Seeso is wasting no time in getting the second season of live comedy showcase series Night Train with Wyatt Cenac going. The renewal announcement was made today along with the line-ups feature much of the best in NYC and around the country. The tapings are all set up all around Valentine’s Day.

What makes us most excited about this new batch of Night Train is plenty more opportunity for Wyatt to spit the fire that he did with his immediate-post-election album, One Angry Night in November (you can still get it for free here).

You can get tickets, from which the proceeds will go to charity, here.

Full Frontal with Samantha Bee Will Be Having a “Not the White House Correspondents Dinner” Opposite the Actual WHCD

Every year, a comedian hosts an evening poking fun at Washington D.C. and press members that cover it at The White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

As you might imagine, with Trump as President and how an overwhelming majority of comedians and celebrities feel about him, the event will have a bit of a different feel this year.

We’d wager that the WHCD for 2017 won’t even be similar to when Colbert hosted it during the Bush Administration in 2006.

In anticipation of that, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee will be hosting an alternative to watching the impending mess that the actual WHCD might be. On the same evening, Saturday, April 29th, Bee will lead the “Not The White House Correspondents Dinner”. More details as to what they have planned to come.

Congratulations to Frank Castillo, who rose through the ranks from the humble beginnings of Roast Battle while working the door at The Comedy Store, and just clinched the title for the second ever Roast Battle tournament.

It almost seems like a rag to riches dream came true on the back of brutal roast jokes.

Last night, he bested Matthew Broussard in the final round and did so with a pretty ruthless set of burns. Watch his winning performance here.

From The Moth to Off-Broadway to touring around the country, Hasan Minhaj’s amazing Homecoming King show will be a comedy special on Netflix.

Not only does Hasan spin this particular thread of his life into a very funny tale, but it also features an interracial romance that couldn’t be more timely. There is no premiere date, but we hope that it will stream very soon at Netflix.

Here Are Samantha Bee and John Oliver’s Past Segments on Migrants and Refugees Because They Seem Even More Important Than When They First Aired

January 29, 2017
Uncategorized
full frontal, hbo, john oliver, last week tonight, muslim ban, refugee crisis, samantha bee, tbs

Full Frontal with Samantha Bee and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver have done great, extensive coverage on why such Trump’s recent travel and immigration ban is unnecessary and awful. Though you might have seen it already, the segments seem even more crucial than when they hit the airwaves and the Internet.

So, we’ve gathered the lot of them up here in this post for your convenience.

This weekend, President Trump signed an executive order that banned immigration and travel from non-U.S. citizens from 7 Muslim majority countries that are suspected of sending terrorists to our shores here in the U.S.

Of course, this prohibits many refugees from coming to America that have already gone through a rigorous process to come to the States for the next several months. Here are more details on what the executive order says and does as well as the aftermath, which includes a few judges defying the order in regards to detaining certain individuals already at U.S. airports, from The Atlantic.

There are plenty of protests of this executive order to join at airports around the country. If you can’t join in there, consider donating to the ACLU or CAIR (the Council on American-Islamic Relations).

Also, for the good measure of normalizing Muslims in the U.S., watch, rewatch, and/or share Aasif Mandvi’s brilliant satirical multi cam sitcom Halal in the Family.

Filmmaker Onur Tukel’s latest feature Catfight sets up Sandra Oh and Anne Heche as sworn enemies and promises of some epic, realistic brawling that might happen between a wine connoisseur and an artist.

Sounds like a lot of fun and the trailer looks even more devilishly enjoyable.

SiriusXM Has Agreed to Two Year Deal for “The Craig Ferguson Show”

For our money, Craig Ferguson was one of the best interviewers in late night and him getting a show to do essentially do whatever he wants for two years is a great thing.

During weekdays, Craig will host a two hour live show from 3PM to 5PM PST starting Monday, February 27th.

Ferguson has a knack for making conversation interesting even when guests weren’t bringing a lot to the table. He also had hysterical rapport with the likes of Steven Wright, which is comparable to the chemistry that Conan O’Brien and Norm MacDonald have.

We’re absolutely looking forward to a freewheeling Craig coming back on his own terms.

Conan will actually stepping up from his normal going to a foreign country to visit and taping a bunch of super fun remote segments when visiting Mexico.

As a part of a greater efforts to normalize what are now tense relations between the U.S. and México, he’ll be taping an episode in Mexico City with Mexican labor to make an episode entitled, “Conan Without Borders: Made in México”.

It is without a doubt that Conan O’Brien is now the elder statesman of American late night (and maybe a goodwill ambassador for an even greater scope than that).

O’Brien details the event further here.

This very special episode is set to air on Wednesday, March 1st at 10PM on TBS.
