Get Your First Look at Dan Harmon’s Latest Creation, “Krapopolis”

July 25, 2022
News
dan harmon, first look, fox animation, krapopolis

Community, Rick and Morty, and Harmontown are all proud hallmarks for Dan Harmon that will likely stand the test of a very long time. So, naturally, whatever he’s on to next will be so highly anticipated that there’s probably not even a fully accurate metric for it. Krapopolis, his latest series that will premiere on Fox next year, is no exception even though it feels like we’ve heard about it being in the works for years now.

Krapopolis will follow an attempt by Greek gods to not run one of the world’s first cities into the ground. Both Greek mythology and history point towards plenty of narrative that is ripe for Harmon’s blazing, searing, meta-satirical style. You can see for yourself in this first look, unveiled at SDCC, here.

Pick of the Day: Mike Birbiglia: The Old Man and The Pool (in LA) 7/27-8/28

July 25, 2022
News
la music center, mark taper forum, mike birbiglia, old man and the pool

Mike Birbiglia, perhaps the poster guy for comedian solo shows these days, is coming back to LA for a nice, long run for his latest hour, The Old Man and the Pool, before he probably goes and tapes it for Netflix. Birbiglia has done an LA run of his previously celebrated hours for the last several years (minus COVID times) at the LA Music Center in DTLA as one of the extremely few comedians to regularly take on their massive theaters.

This run for The Old Man and the Pool will happen at The Mark Taper Forum at the LA Music Center starting this week on Wed. Jul. 27th and running with dozens of performances through the end of August, closing specifically on Sun. Aug. 28th. Tickets are going for $30 right now and you ought to snag them here right now.

Pick of the Day: Josh Gondelman: What’s New? (in NYC) 7/31

July 22, 2022
News
brooklyn, josh gondelman, ny comedy, stand up comedy, union hall

For all that is said about how gritty NYC is and how much hustle and grinding goes in on NYC comedy specifically, Josh Gondelman is living proof that you can be one of comedy’s nicest folks and also be one of the funniest people throughout all of NYC (and beyond).

Gondelman has not only killed it on so many stages around the scene with his sweet demeanor, but has written for so many of the best shows on TV including Last Week Tonight and Desus & Mero. Come Sun. Jul. 31st at 8PM ET at Union Hall, you can watch him, up close and personal, work on brand new jokes along with other grand NYC comedy staples Hari Kondabolu, Ophira Eisenberg, and Mohanad Elshieky.

Tickets are only $12 right now and you can (and should) go get them here.

Atlanta Announces Final Season to Premiere in September with Very Trippy Teaser

July 22, 2022
News
atlanta, fx, hulu, premiere date, season 4, teaser

What started as a dramedy about coming up in the rap game in Atlanta has become something so expansive in its artistic scope that it’s hard to truly define or categorize in most traditional ways. Donald Glover’s vision for dissecting race, class, and the history of the two that we all carry with us has been electrifying and why Atlanta has been an award winner right out of the gate.

The reverberations of these past three seasons of the series have already had a ripple effect in terms of what TV could be a doing away with any sort of previously enshrined rules of narrative or genre. We have no doubt that’ll be the case for season 4 of Atlanta especially with an announcement teaser that features Coconut Crunchies falling from the sky, striped gators, an ostrich being born and grown to adulthood in mere seconds, the inverse of a mic drop, and more.

See for yourself here, then get hooked for the fourth and final season of Atlanta when September comes around (thank goodness we don’t have to wait another indefinite amount of years between seasons).

Pick of the Day: Summer Girl Winter Boy: Greta Titelman and Matt Rogers (in LA) 8/5

July 21, 2022
News
greta titelman, hollywood improv, la comedy, matt rogers, stand up comedy

You’re well aware that it’s actually quite the rarity to see a legitimate hour set from a comedian while in LA or NYC. Stage time is such a scarce resource for an ever growing number of comedians that you should take the chance, if you can find it, to go watch someone do an hour rather than one of their handful of ten minute sets they’re doing around town.

For all the attitude, style, spunk, and wit that both Greta Titelman (Search Party) and Matt Rogers (I Love That For You, Fire Island) bring to the stage, you should really never miss a set of theirs. Lucky for LA, they’re co-headlining back to back at the one and only Hollywood Improv next month.

Mark down Fri. Aug. 5th at 8PM PT for having an evening on Melrose and watching Greta and Matt take over the Improv’s Main Room. Tickets are $25 (plus 2 item min.) and don’t be surprised if it sells out soon. Go get ’em here ASAP.

Joe Pera Imagines a Gentler James Bond That’s Probably the Sort of Calm We Need

July 21, 2022
News
james bond, joe pera, late night, parody, seth meyers

In anticipation of his upcoming two part nationwide tour ingeniously called “Summer in the Midwest and Rustbelt Tour” and “Fall Everywhere Else Tour”, Joe Pera went on Seth Meyers last night and showed Hollywood what they’re missing by having Joe Pera Talks with You come to a close.

Joe opted to “reveal” during his chat with Seth that “he will be” a wildly reinvented James Bond that’s more about fighting litter than international crime lords. In fact, he’ll be a Yank living in Philly and, well, you should just enjoy Joe Pera’s extremely homespun version of Agent 007, which includes Seth reading lines for an iconic scene and a rare little bit of giggly breaking from Joe during this whole bit.

Give it a watch and giggle plenty for yourself here.

The Comedy Bureau Field Report Ep. 121: Olivia Amerling & Comedy Fandom Turned Dedicated Comedy Producing

July 20, 2022
News, The Comedy Bureau Field Report
jak knight, mo'nique, netflix, nyc comedy, olivia amerling, producing comedy

When it comes to producing a comedy show, it’s ideal that you have someone who loves comedy just as much as the performers do, but, for their own reasons, would rather not take the stage and just work behind the scenes. Olivia Amerling has emerged as a go-to NYC comedy producer with three weekly shows on her plate, Seance Comedy at Easy Lover, I Made You a Playlist at Three Diamond Door and Drule at Fette Sau, after just being a hardcore comedy fan that would show up at as many shows as she possibly could. We go through NYC comedy, especially neighborhood specific NYC comedy, and break down what she does to make her shows staples in New York

Also, “hot” takes on Mo’Nique getting a hour Netflix special, the passing of Jak Knight, and more.

Follow Olivia @olivemartini on IG as well as her shows @seancecomedy, @playlistcomedy, and @drulecomedy.

Atsuko Okatsuka Set for Second Hour Special at HBO

July 20, 2022
News
atsuko okatsuka, hbo

(via Variety)

The rise of Atsuko Okatsuka in LA to becoming a beloved nationally touring headliner/viral sensation has been a distinct pleasure over the years. Atsuko is, without one of the funniest comedians working right now, and such a delight to see on any and every stage, especially with her playful, yet sharply observed comedy and incredible story of how she got to where she is right now.

So, we’re thrilled to hear that the hour special to follow up her first one at Hulu will be at HBO and is set to tape this Fall. The prospect of the whole world (the part with access to HBO/HBO Max) getting to see Atsuko’s bits that we’ve doubled over laughing at dozens of times makes us pretty damn happy.

There are no details as to when/where the taping will be, but you absolutely should be there when it happens.

Pick of the Day: A Night with Dylan Adler (in NYC) 8/29

July 19, 2022
News
brooklyn, Dylan Adler, littlefield, nyc comedy

In the not so distant future, it’s not hard to imagine that the incredibly multi-talented, hilarious, and acrobatic Dylan Adler is so busy headlining everywhere that you might not get to see him do an hour in NYC all that easily. NYC (and pretty much anyone who has seen him) has become an immediate fan and his silly, but bombastically dark and vulnerable comedy has captured the attention of the whole of NYC comedy.

With that said, you shouldn’t miss your latest chance to catch him headline next month at Littlefield in Brooklyn. A Night with Dylan Adler is set for Mon. Aug. 29th at 8PM ET. Tickets are $12 you really ought to go get them right here right now.

You Better Enjoy Your First Look at Chris Estrada Series “This Fool”

July 19, 2022
News
chris estrada, frankie quinones, hulu, this fool

For whatever has been on top of the most anticipated new series of 2022, This Fool (previously known as Punk Ass Bitch), the single cam sitcom based loosely on the life of the hysterical Chris Estrada is way higher on the list than the LOTR spin-off. Co-created/written, with Chris, by the Corporate guys (Jake Weisman, Pat Bishop, and Matt Ingebretson) has been a combo that has had us hooked ever since we heard about it. The cameo of Fred Armisen along with him being an EP should just be a bonus for you at this point.

After years and years of being development, This Fool has the makings of a great sitcom that should be buzzed about with a balance of humor that’s both grounded, but gritty all set in the heart of East LA (along with a very likely scene-stealing Frankie Quinones set in a supporting role).

See all of this for yourself in the first official trailer for This Fool here, then look for it to drop on Hulu starting Aug. 12th.

Here’s the First Look of the Second/Final Season of Kevin Can F**K Himself

July 18, 2022
News
amc, annie murphy, kevin can f himself

Perhaps one of the darkest takes on the largely patriarchal universe that multi-cam sitcoms live in, Kevin Can F**K Himself is one of the most audacious, genre bending shows that we’ve seen in some time. That’s probably for the best that they don’t have to figure a season/series are beyond this upcoming second season. The switching gears between two genres/universes/tones is something to marvel unto itself and simply calling Kevin Can F**K Himself a dark comedy doesn’t really do it justice (especially since it feels like a sort of shot across the bow for Kevin Can Wait and anything like it).

You can see where this upcoming second and final season of Kevin Can F**K Himself is going here (though there’s a big spoiler for season 1 in this trailer). Then, look for it to premiere on AMC on Aug. 22nd (you can stream the first two eps. on AMC+)

Pick of the Day: Kate Berlant Is Kate (in NYC) 8/20-10/8

July 18, 2022
News
bo burnham, connelly theater, kate berlant, nyc comedy, solo show
Kate Berlant, often thought by many to be a crucial trailblazer in this era of comedy, has achieved such notions by her persistent experimentation in comedy with form, expectation, perspective, and subversion. For the last several months, she has treated LA to the delight of cultivating a solo show that NYC is now going to delight in the fruits of that labor.
Called Kate Berlant Is Kate, Kate will be running the show for an extensive run at the East Village’s Connelly Theater with Bo Burnham set as director (in case you needed some extra incentive for some reason, though you really shouldn’t). It’ll run from August 20th-October 8th, specifically going up at 7PM Mondays through Saturdays with a matinee performance at 3PM on Saturdays. There will be a single Sunday performance on Sept. 4th at 7PM and the show will go dark on Mon. Sept. 5th.
By the way, Kate herself says of this show: All my previous work has been a pale shadow, a humiliation, an impotent suggestion always gesturing toward, yet never quite arriving… now I’m here. And it feels really good.
Tickets starts at $31 for previews and $47 after opening night 9/7. Go get your tickets for this important milestone in comedy before they sell out at kateshow.net.

The Heron and Hen Show That Lifestyle Influencing Is More Than Just Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop (Especially If You’re Not Rich)

July 15, 2022
News
goop, gwyneth paltrow, heron and hen, Jamie Hultgren, parody, ryan harrison, van life

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop has become such a formidable presence in the, shall we say, lifestyle market that no matter how much comedians make fun of it, it still commands a wide audience willing to shell out top dollar for whatever wellness practice or consumer good gets Goop on it.

So, that leads aspiring #VanLife and lifestyle “influencers” Heron and The Hen (Ryan Harrison and Jamie Hultgren) to trying to tap into whatever Gwyneth has locked away for her most special/wealthiest Goop acolytes by attending an exclusive Goop event.

What happened was a far cry from what they had planned, but they still manage to get into the spirit of getting into Goop. Watch exactly what “happens” (NOTE: they really did try to get into a Goop event) here.

Pick of the Day: Good Heroin with Lindsay Adams and Rob Haze (in LA) 7/16

July 15, 2022
News
comedy show, echo park, free comedy, la comedy, lindsay adams, los angeles, rob haze, stand up comedy

Good Heroin is and has been one of the very best weekly stand-up shows in LA for a very long time. Saturdays at the back patio of Stories has been a destination for comedy fans far and wide as well as those Eastside denizens looking for a splendid evening without having to go too far.

For a good run of the show’s history as a LA comedy staple, it was dutifully hosted by Dave Ross and Matt Ingebretson. When Ingebretson got swept away in the wonderfully dark Corporate on Comedy Central, which he co-created and co-starred in, Dave took on hosting duties solely. In the past several months, Dave has been bi-coastal and sharing hosting duties and the mantle to Good Heroin with LA comedy’s favorite reformed mean girl, Lindsay Adams.

Since Dave has made an official move to NYC, he has officially handed off and kept the Good Heroin name alive with faith placed in its two new co-hosting duo, the aforementioned Lindsay Adams and LA transplant and one of comedy’s most clever minds, Rob Haze. This coming Saturday, Jul. 16th marks Lindsay and Rob’s first Good Heroin (where Rob wasn’t kept as a secret to be revealed) and a start to new era of one of LA’s comedy cornerstone shows.

So, if it being great, free stand-up (w/Jackie Kashian, Jenny Zigrino, Nori Reed, Morgan Jay, Michelle Biloon, Rob Smallwood for 7/16) on a Saturday night at 8 wasn’t enough for you to come down to 1716 Sunset Blvd., we hope this historical moment will be enough to convince you to go (and subsequently keep coming back) to Good Heroin.

Beware of Your Company’s All Expenses Paid Work Retreat to Italy in “Spin Me Round” Trailer

July 14, 2022
News
alessandro nivola, alison brie, ayden mayeri, ifc, jeff baena, molly shannon, tim heidecker, zach woods

Just like the rest of the world, everything seems too good to be true in what should be a very run-of-the-mill corporate work retreat to Italy in Spin Me Round.

Spin Me Round is the latest work from Jeff Baena has had carved out a niche for very, very off-beat indie comedies including The Little Hours and Life After Beth. This jaunt follows Alison Brie on what seems to be a very special work program for some fast casual chain like The Olive Garden. She’s looking for a change, inspiration, and some romance, but gets entangled into much more than she ever thought she would. With a supporting cast that includes the likes of Molly Shannon and Zach Woods and a more sneaky than usual Aubrey Plaza, there’s something alluring here in Spin Me Round to the cracks in the veneer of an Italian getaway.

See for yourself in the first trailer here, then look for it in theaters and on AMC+ starting Aug. 19th.

Pick of the Day: Edinburgh Fringe Preview Day (in LA) 7/23

July 14, 2022
News
amber glancy, amirta dhaliwal, brianna ahlmark, business casual, edinburgh fringe, elysian, hannah pilkes, john norris, kate berlant, Kylie Brakeman, los angeles comedy, solo show

One of the world’s biggest and most preeminent performance festivals, especially when it comes to comedy, is the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Thousands of shows that happens over the course of a month and every square inch of Edinburgh, Scotland becomes a show or part of a show.

While that’s all brilliant and it’s a blur of dazzling, mind bending show after show after show after show after show, there is the issue of actually getting to Scotland and where to stay during the festival. That usually runs up a tab of several thousands of dollars and not a lot of folks just have that in a back pocket they forgot about.

So, The Elysian is doing LA a solid by putting on a whole entire day of preview shows for The Edinburgh Fringe  on Sat. Jul. 23rd featuring many of LA’s most daring performers putting on their solo shows one last time before they head abroad with it.

So that’ll feature

  • 11 AM – Amber Glancy: Wine Show
  • 12:20 PM – Brianna Ahlmark: Gertrude
  • 1:40 PM – Kylie Brakeman: Linda Hollywood’s Big Hollywood Night
  • 3 PM – Amrita Dhaliwal: Driving Around
  • 4:20 PM – Brian McElhaney: A Completely Untested Hour of Stand Up
  • 5:40 PM – Hannah Pilkes: Woman On the Verge
  • 7 PM – Kate Berlant: Like You’ve Never Seen Her Before
  • 8:40 PM – Business Casual: FERAL
  • 10 PM – John Norris: Mr. Chonkers

You can either buy tickets for the first five shows for $18 or second four shows for $26 or get access to all of them plus admission to Tomorrow! with Ron Lynch for $60. That’s still thousands of dollars cheaper than actually going to the Fringe if you weren’t tabulating the math. Go get your tickets here.

The Comedy Bureau Field Report Ep. 120: MC Chris & Multi-verses on Multiverses

July 13, 2022
News, The Comedy Bureau Field Report
mc chris

MC Chris has dedicated his life to both being a nerd and being a rapper and has brilliantly and hilariously married the two for his own self-made rap career. He has been such “the guy” when it comes to rapping about Star Wars or the MCU or Ghostbusters or Nightmare on Elm Street that his fans have made an entire community around his nerdy rap canon and supported each other, found partners, started families etc. We talk all about how deep this rabbit hole goes while Chris is in the middle of his Last Tour (he’s not so sure about that, FYI). Also, MC Chris is probably one of the only rappers in the game to have a referential joke play out well over a decade.

Life Is Beautiful Fest Is Back with Another Line-Up Worth Going to Vegas For

July 13, 2022
News
comedy festival, las vegas, life is beautiful fest, vegas comedy

Though Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club in Vegas has injected some new life into the comedy circuit in and around The Strip over the last few years, the primary attraction for going to Las Vegas has been and still is gambling.

That said, there are exceptions to that make it worth venturing to Sin City to catch something other than slot machines everywhere you look, professional gamblers playing poker at all hours of the day and night, and other activities that might be prohibited elsewhere in the U.S.

The Life Is Beautiful Fest is Vegas’ annual weekend festival that combines music, comedy, art, food, and more not unlike Tennesee’s Bonnaroo or SF’s Outside Lands and have quite the comedy line-up. For the 2022 edition, they stacked The Kicker, the comedy part of the fest, with one of NYC’s landmark shows, Butterboy with Jo Firestone, Aparna Nancherla, and Maeve Higgins, Joel Kim Booster who continues to have a banner year in 2022, the star upstart on SNL, Sarah Sherman, and even Hannah Einbinder and Megan Stalter playing Vegas as their brilliant selves versus Ava and Kayla on Hacks. Podcasts Going Deep with Chad and JT, Celebrity Book Club with Steven & Lily, and Y2YAY with Sydnee Washington and Marie Faustin are slated to go up at Life Is Beautiful Fest too running from Sept. 16th-18th in Downtown Vegas.

1-Day passes start from $180 plus fees and 3-Day passes start from $380 plus fees. If this all up your alley, go get passes right here right now.

Please Enjoy Addie Weyrich’s Version of Ted Cruz Who Just Woke Up with Total Amnesia

July 12, 2022
News
addie weyrich, satire, ted cruz

Such a singular delight of a comedian Addie Weyrich unveiled this gem of a bit where she stumbles around as Ted Cruz with amnesia, asking the audience who he is and why everyone hates him so much in 2021. We loved it so deeply that we put it on our 100 Best Things in Comedy We Were Witness To in 2021 despite not really being able to show anyone what it was (no clip of the bit existed as of yet).

Fortunately, that’s all changed and has captured a brilliant performance of her as an amnesia riddled Ted Cruz that looks to truly be a better person with the help of several audience members. It’s so damn funny on top of being heartwarming and introspective and thought provoking.

Give it several watches here.

Pick of the Day: We Still Like You (in LA & NYC) 7/14 & 7/20

Though storytelling is no stranger to comedy, We Still Like You still stands out as one of the most original and daring comedic storytelling shows that we’ve ever seen and we’re so glad to find that it has survived to this side of the pandemic and is still putting up live shows around the country.

For the uninitiated, We Still Like You not only puts comedians in a position to tell a very personal story, but one where they are very clearly not the hero with the audience reminding them, at the end, in unison, that, “We still like you.” Cathartic and downright hysterical, you should never miss any one of these.

Lucky for both coasts that there are NYC and LA shows coming up.

7/14 @ Central Organic (in Brooklyn) w/Courtney Magginis, Melody Kamali, Rufat Agayev, Terence Hartnett, and Grace Freud w/Tyler Snodgrass and John Rosenberger hosting.

7/20 @ Secret LA Spot w/Sammy Mowrey, Tyjuan Lewis, Jake Noll, Allison Rose, Rachel Weeks, and Allen Strickland Williams w/Danii Gallegos & Tyler Snodgrass hosting (DM @westilllikeyou to RSVP/get address)

Pick of the Day: The Green Room with Paul Provenza (Nowhere Comedy Live-stream) 7/23

July 11, 2022
News
ben gleib, christina catherine martinez, green room with paul provenza, jamie kilstein, kira soltanovich, nowhere comedy, virtual comedy

It has been far too long since The Green Room with Paul Provenza has been on the air. A groundbreaking series on Showtime that showed comedy panel shows can work in America so long as it’s more of an open, unstructured conversation not unlike that between comedians in a typical comedy club green room.

Thankfully, Paul Provenza (director of The Aristocrats, author of ¡SATIRISTAS!, producer of Set List: Standup Without A Net) has transformed his backyard into the perfect place to have a live version of The Green Room (and has brought us at The Comedy Bureau on board) to bring back those one-of-a-kind conversations between all sorts of great comedians from all backgrounds, generations, and ideologies, etc. You’ll be able to watch this particular version of The Green Room with Paul Provenza virtually via Nowhere Comedy, as it will eb done in front of a live audience in Paul’s own charming compound.

Going live on Sat. Jul. 23rd at 7:30PM PT/10:30PM ET with Christina Catherine Martinez, Kira Soltanovich, Jamie Kilstein, and Ben Gleib, as well as, of course, Paul Provenza, there will be stand-up and then the signature panel conversation between all the comics. Tickets are $10 right now, but you can snag VIP tickets where you can ask the panel a question for $30. Go get them here and revel in and enjoy the return of the one and only Green Room.

Pick of the Day: Cameron Esposito Works Out (in LA) 7/13

July 8, 2022
News
cameron esposito, largo, los angeles comedy, stand up comedy

Since Cameron Esposito moved to LA several years ago via Chicago, they’ve been one of our favorite folks to watch and, for our money, a crucial voice in comedy at large. Her unflinching vulnerability and masterful storytelling and joke writing stick with us any time we see them on stage. When it comes to the pressing issues of our time, Cameron is one of the first comedians that we really want to hear weigh in.

Thus, if you have a chance to see Cameron do an hour of stand-up, please take it immediately. For LA folks, you’re in luck as they’re working out a new hour, hence Cameron Esposito Works Out, at Largo at the Coronet Theatre next week on Jul. 8th at 8:30PM PT. Tickets are $46 (including fees) and you can (and very much should) go get your tickets here.

Please Enjoy the Trailer for the Latest Mega Church Satire “HONK FOR JESUS. SAVE YOUR SOUL”

If the season finale of The Righteous Gemstones left you starving for more unabashed satire of televangelist megachurches, then you’ll be thrilled to know that there’s something coming your way, just for you, in a couple of months via Focus Features/Peacock.

Sterling K. Brown and Regina King star in the upcoming Ebo Twins’ HONK FOR JESUS. SAVE YOUR SOUL., possibly the most fun movie title of 2022. The film follows a documentary being made about them as a televangelist power couple that is under severe scrutiny and controversy and are pulling out all their smoke and mirrors in order to make a comeback.

Of course, their version of the light of God is so blinding that they can’t see how ridiculous it is to ask for people to “HONK FOR JESUS”. The egomaniacal hijinks that ensue do look pretty fun here.

See the latest fun peering into the cracks of organized religion with HONK FOR JESUS. SAVE YOUR SOUL.’s first trailer here, then look for it in theaters and on Peacock starting Sept. 2nd.

Pick of the Day: In Unit Laundry with Simon Gibson and M.K. Paulsen (in LA) Tuesdays Starting 7/19

July 7, 2022
News
la comedy, lyric hyperion, mk paulsen, silverlake, simon gibson, stand up comedy

Leading into 2020, it was a time where not only was there so much live comedy to go see, but one could treat themselves to seeing the very funny likes of Simon Gibson and M.K. Paulsen all the time. Having been roommates, doing a podcast together, being on a reality show about JFL, and more, Simon and M.K. are perhaps, LA comedy’s favorite odd couple.

Smack dab in the middle of 2022, we’re getting back to the volume of comedy that we had almost three years ago and part of that return is M.K. and Simon having a weekly stand-up showcase at the newly refurbished Lyric Hyperion. Called In-Unit Laundry, Simon and M.K. will gather their favorite comedy folks from the scene (and whatever good folks are in town) Tuesdays at 8PM PT at 2106 Hyperion Ave.

They’re kicking off this weekly run on Jul. 19th and tickets are only $10 if you buy them in advance here.

With an inaugural line-up of Joel Kim Booster, James Adomian, Kylie Brakeman, Solomon Georgio, Erik Rivera, and Steph Tolev, it’s a show that damn well better not miss.

Reservation Dogs Season 2 Trailer Promises a More Than Worthy Follow-Up

July 7, 2022
News
fx, reservation dogs, season 2, sterlin harjo, taika waititi

Sterlin Harjo & Taika Waititi’s dramedy, Reservation Dogs, set on a reservation in Oklahoma captured the hearts and minds of so many and shone a much needed and very human light on modern day life “on the res”, especially during those teen years. With plenty of acclaim and awards that came with the series’ first run, there is almost endless amounts of anticipation for season 2 following the journeys of Elora Danan, Bear, Willie Jack, Cheese, and all of their friends, families, and enemies.

The official trailer for season 2 of Reservation Dogs dropped yesterday and it seems to hit a sweet spot of grounded absurdity and pathos, maybe even more emphatically than season 1. Elora Danan continues her perhaps impossible quest for the promise land of California, Bear wrestles with adulthood having no manual, and there’s a much better indigenous version of a Zoltar-machine. Give it a watch and see for yourself here, then look for its premiere on FX/Hulu on Wed. Aug. 3rd.
