This week’s TCB Field Report has a frank conversation with beloved LA scene staple Lindsay Adams on her constant quest to better herself as both a comedian and a person. This desire fueled her latest endeavor, an experimental solo show where she actively asks the audiences if they still like her after divulging the most cringeworthy moments of her life, offering up a great exploration of Lindsay’s persona, drive, and creative process.

Pick of the Day: Cult Classic (in LA) Mondays Starting 10/9

October 6, 2023
News

No matter the state of the world/economy/government, nothing really changes Mondays from being Mondays and, in our minds, it’s imperative that they are reliable forms of mental relief via legit weekly comedy shows plentifully available. Such is the case on Wednesdays in LA (Hot Tub, Better Half, Microdose, Motherland, Totally!, and Skin Contact to name a few).

Mondays are much more sparing.

That’s why it’s thrilling to hear that LA comedy staples Lindsay Adams, Sam Wiles, and Will Miles are starting up a brand new weekly stand-up show, Cult Classic, in Eagle Rock’s Señor Fish. Every Monday night at 7PM, just head on up Eagle Rock Blvd. to wooden-fort-ish Señor Fish after you bought your $8 tickets to enjoy a painstakingly curated, secret line-up and negate any instance of “having the case of the Mondays”. Also, don’t you want to get in on the ground floor of a “cult classic”?

Keep up with everything for Cult Classic @cultclassiccomedy on IG and go get tickets for their inaugural show this coming Monday, Oct. 9th.

Pick of the Day: Good Heroin with Lindsay Adams and Rob Haze (in LA) 7/16

Good Heroin is and has been one of the very best weekly stand-up shows in LA for a very long time. Saturdays at the back patio of Stories has been a destination for comedy fans far and wide as well as those Eastside denizens looking for a splendid evening without having to go too far.

For a good run of the show’s history as a LA comedy staple, it was dutifully hosted by Dave Ross and Matt Ingebretson. When Ingebretson got swept away in the wonderfully dark Corporate on Comedy Central, which he co-created and co-starred in, Dave took on hosting duties solely. In the past several months, Dave has been bi-coastal and sharing hosting duties and the mantle to Good Heroin with LA comedy’s favorite reformed mean girl, Lindsay Adams.

Since Dave has made an official move to NYC, he has officially handed off and kept the Good Heroin name alive with faith placed in its two new co-hosting duo, the aforementioned Lindsay Adams and LA transplant and one of comedy’s most clever minds, Rob Haze. This coming Saturday, Jul. 16th marks Lindsay and Rob’s first Good Heroin (where Rob wasn’t kept as a secret to be revealed) and a start to new era of one of LA’s comedy cornerstone shows.

So, if it being great, free stand-up (w/Jackie Kashian, Jenny Zigrino, Nori Reed, Morgan Jay, Michelle Biloon, Rob Smallwood for 7/16) on a Saturday night at 8 wasn’t enough for you to come down to 1716 Sunset Blvd., we hope this historical moment will be enough to convince you to go (and subsequently keep coming back) to Good Heroin.

Pick of the Day: Bake Stuff with Lindsay Adams (in LA) 5/11

News

Though we may have said it before, we’ll loudly and proudly say it again: Bake Stuff with Lindsay Adams will make you forget about every other cooking show you’ve binged watch over the last several years.

For the uninitiated, Lindsay Adams takes the format of what would be your run of the mill, “uplifting”, conflict-free baking show and then works in her own brand of reformed mean girl comedy that includes plenty of going in deep with the audience, amazing “stupid games”, and, of course, some of the most delicious baked goods that you’ve ever had a live comedy show.

This is one of those shows that we loved and missed so dearly during lockdown and we’re thrilled that it’s making a comeback at The Elysian on Wed. May 11th at 7PM PT. Lindsay will be assisted by rising star comedian Max Beasley, feature a very special guest Renee Gauthier, and baking up a transcendent Chicago Steakhouse Carrot Cake.

The antithesis of your typical wholesome tv baking show, it’s chaos in the most fun way possible. Along with a live step-by-step baking demonstration, there’s stand-up comedy, audience participation, and delightfully stupid games. We’ll be making Chicago Steakhouse Carrot Cake, Renee Gauthier will be our special guest, and Max Beasley is our on-hand assistant. Because we know you’ll ask – YES, you’ll get to taste the cake!

Tickets are $16 and you’re definitely getting more than your money’s worth for this one. So, go snag your tickets right here right now.

Pick of the Day: What’s Your Problem, Sir? Fund Texas Choice Benefit (in LA) 12/12

December 3, 2021
News

The real, live, in-person debut of What’s Your Problem, Sir? with Ever Mainard was supposed to happen this Summer, but chaos during this pandemic prevailed and it was forced to postpone.

Now, comedy is back enough for Ever to grace us for a non-virtual edition of What’s Your Problem, Sir? next Sunday with her special brand of genuine, ephemeral, enthralling riffing and crowd work just in time for the holiday season. It ought to be extra special being at the new jewel of the LA comedy scene, The Elysian and being joined by the comedy stylings and honesty of Christina Catherine Martinez and Lindsay Adams.

ALSO, with the state of the nation, particularly in Texas, Ever has opted to give 100% of profits of this show to Fund Texas Choice, an org dedicated to giving Texans fair and equitable access to abortion.

So, do not miss out on this very, very special, first in-person edition of What’s Your Problem, Sir? with Ever Mainard on Sun. Dec. 12th at 8:30PM PT. Tickets are $15 and proof of vaccination and masks are required. Go get ’em now.

Pick of the Day: Custody Battle (in LA) 7/16

At this point, you’ve probably caught wind of a thing called Roast Battle. Maybe you’ve even heard of it’s antithesis, Boast Rattle.

Well, now, there’s a new niche twist to two comedians going at each other’s throats with the best jokes they can come up with and it’s called, Custody Battle. If the comics are fighting for custody of something, the jokes might even get a little more personal, perhaps, but with the artifice of fake(?) hearing for custody of someone or something. Also, this will be a showcase of great women and LGBTQIA+ comedians.

On the inaugural Custody Battle, will be very fierce pairings of:
Matt LeGrande vs. Lindsay Adams
Tara McGorry vs. Maddie Collins
Alec Cole vs. Max Beasley

(plus a secret headliner).

Additionally, Custody Battle is happening on Fri. Jul. 16th at 9PM PT at an indie underground spot called Baader House that you’ll need to buy tickets in order to get the address (though we can tell you that it’s in on the Eastside in Boyle Heights). Tickets are $5 and you can Venmo @makeoutmusic for tickets.

While so many reality cooking shows skirt the edges of the human condition via near impossible cooking and baking challenges given to people desperate for a win of some kind, Bake Stuff with Lindsay Adams takes it to the next level by confronting the past directly with a very specific recipe.

Last time, Lindsay made a revenge themed cupcake that was step-by-step designed to shade her HS bully, which Adams hilariously filled us on the whole way through. Also, it should be noted that you get to snack on truly delicious baked goods the whole show.

Bake Stuff with Lindsay Adams is happening once again, this time in the beautiful Rita House near the Grove on Fri. Nov. 22nd at 7:30PM. Tickets are $15 and space is very, very limited. Go purchase some tix here while you still can.

Prankster comedian extraordinaire Brendon Walsh is getting back in touch with his prankster roots with a new monthly show that will feature both stand-up as well as Brendon prank calling people live (quite a feat to do these days if you can pull it off).

Called Afternoon Delight, you’ll get to enjoy such hijinks at 4PM on a Sunday at Silverlake’s The Friend, all for FREE. This first Afternoon Delight on this Sunday should be a damn good time with Johnny Pemberton, Richard Bain, Jamar Neighbors, and Lindsay Adams.

This comedy debate show, Straw Men, really pushes the envelope with how hilariously childish you can get in a debate and it’s all the more brilliant for it. The catharsis you’ll get from seeing adults resort to name calling in debates over the weirdest topics is just so damn fun.

So, don’t miss this latest edition of Straw Men, which has a killer line-up as well. Go get your tickets here.

It’s been a minute, but one of our favorite shows, Full Moon Comedy, that melds the comedy and spiritual worlds is finally back for another round. Stand-up, guided meditation, metaphysical guests, and more are always brought to you lovingly by Lindsay Adams and Aaron Weaver.

This latest edition of Full Moon Comedy is set for Sunday, April 15th at 7:30PM at The Green Man Store in North Hollywood and will include the great comedic stylings of Jackie Kashian, Candy Lawrence, and Will Miles. To attend, they’d like a modest $5-$10 suggested donation.

Really, you should mark this down for your Sunday night this week. Get more details here.
