Rory Scovel has a history of making the most of his televised stand-up performances.
On Conan alone, he’s done a set at the same time as Jon Dore, affected a Southern accent, and had a Liberace piano play in the background while in a tuxedo.
So, in this latest stand-up set on Conan, what could Rory do that would top all of that?
Well, watch, see, and, per usual, be amazed while laughing from your gut.
It’s quite a tale and master comedian Brian Regan spun it quite perfectly into the story presented on a recent This Is Not Happening on Comedy Central.

The magic of one of the best live weekly comedy shows in the entire world, Hot Tub, was captured awhile back, but is now set to come out as a double LP as part of Record Store Day on November 25th thanks to Kill Rock Stars and Redeye Worldwide.
On the album, Hot Tub with Kurt and Kristen: Live at the Virgil, will be performances from Eugene Mirman, Kyle Kinane, John Roberts, Aparna Nancherla, Emily Heller, Eddie Pepitone, Beth Stelling, Karen Kilgariff, Andrés du Bouchet, Heather Lawless, and, of course, Kurt Braunohler and Kristen Schaal.
Make sure that your local record shop will be carrying this so you can go and pick it up.
Sure, getting a comedy album called Dead Waite that was just released on Halloween seems like the perfect intersection between this holiday and stand-up comedy.
You should also know that the brand new hour of stand-up from goofball extraordinaire Dave Waite is one hell of a good comedy album. Dave has really honed his style that is completely self-aware of his cool silliness vibrating through every minute and reveling in it.
Just see for yourself in these great animated clips (animation by Alex Leeds) on saying “goddamn” and wanting to be an archeologist as a kid.
So, get Dead Waite off of On Tour Records, not only because the title fits in nicely with Halloween, but also because you want some damn good comedy regardless of what day of the year it is.

Though Janeane Garofalo does indeed maintain no social media presence, she is definitely a comedian that you need to follow, however that can accomplished.
Luckily, this brand new comedy special If I May, now streaming at Seeso, makes that a little bit easier.
Here are two little morsels just in case you forgot how much of a delight Garofalo can be.

SNL’s Pete Davidson will be showing off what brought him into the spotlight in the first place, stand-up (which then led to SNL).
He has a whole hour long stand-up special coming on Comedy Central, Pete Davidson: SMD premiering this Saturday, October 29th at 11PM.
Get a taste of Pete not in costume or character, but just himself dissing on Staten Island in this preview clip.

If you’ve not had the pleasure of seeing Baron Vaughn live, it is indeed one of those cases where you have not really lived until you have done so. He is really one of a kind at a time in comedy where that is incredibly hard to actually do (given how many comedians there are these days).
His new album, Blaxistential Crisis off of AST Records, not only shows off his great, theatrical performance chops, but also takes us through a journey through Baron’s own personal version of space and time that’s coupled with the undeniable fact that he’s black man in America. It’s simultaneously a bouncy, colorful flight of fancy and a commentary on the unnecessary divides between mankind. It’s not often that magical realism and stand-up intersect, but Baron makes the most of it in this instance.
So, get Blaxistential Crisis right here right now.

As Louis CK wrote in his e-mail announcing the release of his special, many comedians that started out in Boston see Barry Crimmins as a sort of godfather in the Boston comedy scene.
You’ve might have heard of Crimmins from the much lauded, powerful documentary, Call Me Lucky, by Bobcat Goldthwait. He is also held in such hard regard in Boston comedy for so many years. In fact, it’s almost crazy to think that this is his first live comedy special.
CK adds, “Barry is a legend. A great mind, an author and activist and political satirist. He has been an important voice of passion and reason since the 1970s. He has stood before thousands of audiences of every size and type and told them the truth with wit and wisdom, with anger and compassion. Barry was a towering example to me when I started doing standup at age 18. He fostered the comedy scene that I cut my teeth on and later became my friend. More than all of that, I am his fan. I love his voice. He makes me laugh. He’s always right. There has NEVER been another comic like him.”
So, with that all of said, you can now get Whatever Threatens You, shot this summer in Lawrence, Kansas by CK himself for just $5.
Comedian/actor/meta-humor performance artist Moses Storm is getting a night at Nerdmelt where he’ll do whatever the hell he wants as well as having Rory Scovel, Jerrod Carmichael, and Jak Knight tag along with him.

One of the most famous quotes and takeaways from the 1986 comedy classic Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it.”
That maxim is self-evident through every bit of Jay Larson’s comedy and it’s all the better for it. In his latest album Human Math off of AST Records, Larson paints these very grounded, but detailed portraits either from his observations or from his own life that draw out the overlooked humor that only someone living life truly to the fullest would notice. From helping a blind man to picking new friends just from their name, it’s the best glimpse into Larson’s bright, colorful vision of the real world yet.
With that being said, you can (and should) get Human Math off on iTunes now here.
