Adult Swim Renews ‘Newsreaders’ for Season 2

Adult Swim just re-upped their news parody series, a spin off from Children’s Hospital, Newsreaders for a second season.

It would seem that Adult Swim is definitely investing time and money to actually developing their series even after they’ve made it to air to figure out their voice/audience instead of putting the pressures of expecting them to be an instant hit. For our money, we think it’ll definitely pay off like all the buzz surrounding The Heart, She Holler.

You’re Watching Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell, Right?

Since its return along with the launch of FXx, Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell has really found its rhythm and comedic voice/tone as a show in such a way that you should definitely be watching it more than you probably are right now.

Just check out these segments of giving the entire state of Florida an intervention and a TV exec played by Eliza Skinner previewing the all white male TV slate coming this fall. All the writers in these bits, Hari Kondabolu, Janine Brito, Dwayne Kennedy, Guy Branum, Aparna Nancherla, along with Skinner, who are also all on camera, kill it in these two bits.

Be sure to catch Totally Biased nightly during the week at 11PM on FXx.

ABC Buys Paul Scheer Relationship Comedy

Potentially, with ABC buying a Paul Scheer comedy, husband and wife Paul Scheer and June Diane Raphael could both have sitcoms on the network (Raphael has already sold a pilot at ABC).

Not only would it be one hell of a comedy power couple, but ABC could have a formidable comedy line-up for this coming season.

Listen to Andrés du Bouchet Bootleg Live Performances

Bootleg is a little of a misnomer here as the hysterically absurd Andrés du Bouchet, the man behind some of the funniest sketches on Conan, recorded all of these tracks himself and released them for all of us to delight to via his website.

Listen to performances at live shows over the last several months of excerpts from his one man show One Hundred and Me Percent or The Testiculating Horror as soon as you can because we found just listening to his album Naked Trampoline Hamlet wasn’t enough du Bouchet for us.

HBO Orders Political Comedy Pilot From Jay Roach/Jerry Weintraub/Roberto Benabib

Veep has been quite the success for HBO and there’s certainly room for scripted political comedy on TV, even on the same channel.

This project sounds very intriguing as it sounds basically like Dr. Strangelove for TV and it’s being developed at a place like HBO.

If You’re in Asheville, NC, Don’t Miss Joe Zimmerman€™ Recording His Debut Comedy Album

Joe Zimmerman who you hopefully know from his being a great quarter of The Beards of Comedy or this great joke about President Andrew Jackson is recording his first solo comedy album that you can and should attend if you can get to the Lexington Ave. Brewery on Fri. Nov. 15th or Sat. Nov. 16th.

Yes, Asheville, NC is not very close at all to LA, but Joe’s that funny that you should check this out if you can or, at the very least, buy the album when it comes out.

Nielsen to Add Mobile Device Viewing to TV Ratings in Fall 2014

Nielsen inches ever closer to trying to getting an accurate read on who is watching what. We’re not sure how much of a net positive that would be, but we’d hope a move like that would have prevented shows like Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous or Bunk from getting cancelled.

We just wonder why they couldn’t get that information from the NSA.

The Soup to Start Spin-off ‘The Soup Investigates’

So, with this and all growing number of shows that accompany a hit show, the Emmys might have to make another category for Outstanding Variety Companion Show?

Portland’s All Jane No Dick Comedy Festival Has Another Great Line-Up

The All Jane No Dick Comedy Festival in Portland, OR highlights many of the best voices in comedy that just happen to be female and with the likes of Bonnie McFarlane, Lauren Lapkus, Cameron Esposito, Aparna Nancherla, Janine Brito, Barbara Holm, Virginia Jones, and more, we think they’ll definitely pull it off.

It’s happening Oct. 17th-20th and not that bad of a trip from LA to Portland (which we’d hope hope you’d be used to from going to Bridgetown)

Obviously, Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg have wanted to do an adult animated comedy where they anthropomorphize a sausage for a long time, but just waited until they had the success of something like This Is The End to shop it around town.

They’re calling ‘Sausage Party’ and presumably will be dick joke free, right?
