Watch Fascinating Documentary on ‘The Business of Comedy’

Here’s a whole 48 min. documentary on the business side of comedy from Scott Sobel and Gary Licker if you’ve ever wondered about the history of people going from just telling jokes to making it a something that’s financially viable to the opposite of that to today where it’s definitely on the upswing.

It’s especially interesting considering nowadays there are less and less huge touring headliners, but way more comedians then when people started performing stand-up.

Canada’s Comedy Network Picks Up Reruns of IFC’s Comedy Bang! Bang &’Bunk

Comedy Network, a big time Canadian comedy channel has just made a good move in acquiring rights to air a block of Comedy Bang! Bang! and the unfortunately short lived Bunk with Kurt Braunohler from IFC.

We’re really glad to see not only Comedy Bang! Bang! getting aired in another country, but also that people will have another chance to see a vastly underrated Bunk.

Jerry Rocha has taken quite the road leading up to this very first comedy album from being a semi-finalist on Last Comic Standing years ago in his first nationally televised appearance (and several years of honing his comedy before that of course) all the way to know and we’re excited to see that “Take That, Real Dad” from Stand Up! Records finally put Rocha’s delightfully gritty stand up on record for all to hear.

“Take That, Real Dad” is on pre-order now, but it comes out next week on Jul. 16th.

Hopefully, people will realize what they were missing and Bo and possibly this series makes it somewhere else.

After writing jokes in the sky, rewriting greeting cards, and posting up sassy traffic signs, Kurt Braunohler is doing something a little more conventional comedically in releasing his first comedy album entitled “How Do I Land?”. If you’ve seen Kurt do stand-up over the last year throughout the US, you know that Braunohler is hilarious when pulling all those big, funny, absurdist performance art pranks, but he is also hilarious when just talking into a microphone.

Pre-order How Do I Land? to come out August 20th now from Kill Rock Stars as well as a novelty towel, shirt, and glass dildo. (You read that right and it’s pretty amazing).

This Better Be Funny Ep. 79 with Josh Haness

This Better Be Funny

Josh Haness, the co-host of the one of the best live comedy shows in LA, The Josh & Josh Show, joins Jake and Jeremy at The Farmer’s Market to connect the riffing points of Egypt’s removal of Morsi, ICDC, hanging brain during stage productions, after hours supermarkets and what music they should be playing on the PA system, and more. Also, this is what they, a group of comedians did on the 4th of July, as opposed to eating various grilled meats and look at colorful exploding things because that’s their freedom to do so in the good ol’ US of A.

And another thing: If you know of someone at Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce corporate, if there is such a thing, someone let them know we always plug their sauce on our program (just like I said last week and every time before that).

From the writer of Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre Jerusha Hess, comes a something a little more well read, so to speak. Austenland is a romantic comedy set up in the real life fantasy land of Jane Austen romance novel. The degree in which someone would look for their Mr. Darcy with the likes of Keri Russell, Jane Seymour, and Jennifer Coolidge looks pretty fun in the trailer.

Comedy Central Set to Roast James Franco Instead of Someone They Kind of Despise

It’s nice to see Comedy Central finally have someone that isn’t the butt of some type of joke cracked every few minutes somewhere in the world to be the target for one of their roasts.

Possibly, they might be, in the traditional comedy roast sense, honoring James Franco, though we’re sure this will be like a run through of Franco jokes if there ever was a This Is The End sequel.
