Watch the Premiere of “Neon Joe: Werewolf Hunter” Projected on a ‘Beaver Moon’ Within a YouTube Video Thanks to Adult Swim

Everything here is as exactly as you read in the headline, though we’re not exactly sure about the “beaver” part.

Adult Swim put the premiere of Jon Glaser’s Neon Joe: Werewolf Hunter on YouTube ahead of the premiere that’s less than two weeks away. However, to entice you to tune in on Mon. Dec. 7th at midnight to watch the actual, unaltered televised premiere, they have put this whole first episode with a caveat.

They “projected” it onto an image of a moon, which they’re calling a “beaver moon” because if you can watch stuff on a beaver moon, why wouldn’t you?

Still, you can watch the whole episode in its entirety for free, courtesy of the fine folks of Adult Swim. Maybe some of you prefer ‘beaver moon definition’ as opposed to HD?

Jennifer Lawrence Set to Direct Comedy “Project Delirium”

November 25, 2015

(via Variety)

Lawrence has got Oscar bait and big tentpole film franchises under her belt. Now, on to comedy.

Project Delirum will be the second comedy project that Jennifer Lawrence currently has in the works. Already, she writing a sisters comedy with Amy Schumer and now she’s attached to direct this feature delving into the drug-fueled military experiments of the 60s and how wrong they went.

If her successes from Winter’s Bone to Silver Linings Playbook to The Hunger Games to more as well as her hitting it off as friends with Schumer and her general off camera demeanor suggest anything, we’d wager that she’s going to make a big splash in comedy coming up.

“Anomalisa” and “A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Refelecting on Existence” Are Nominated for 2016 Spirit Awards

Uncategorized

It may not be a lot, but Anomalisa racked up 4 nominations.

Thought provoking dramas comprise the majority of this year’s field of nominees at The Film Independent Spirit Awards with such excellent entries as Spotlight and Diary of a Teenage Girl.

However, comedies, albeit thought provoking ones, found their way in.

Charlie Kaufman’s Anomalisa, which we have only heard praise for, is up for Best Feature, Best Director (w/Duke Johnson), Best Screenplay, and Best Female Lead (Jennifer Jason Leigh).

The brilliant Swedish existential comedy A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence from Roy Andersson is up for Best International Film.

You can the rest of the nominees here.

Hopefully, either or both will take home a statue to offer something not so sobering in the field of winners. The ceremony takes places at the end of February next year.

Futurama Is Coming Back in Mobile Game Form

Shut up and take my… oh, you know the drill by now.

Futurama: Game of Drones will be the latest connection to the beloved series Futurama that fans keep alive enough to justify something new. Futurama writer and producer Patric Verrone is on board along with Wooga and Fox Digital Entertainment in case you’re wondering how in line this game will be with the actual series.

As you might imagine, a game version of Futurama will involve their very ill advised deliveries in competition with another interstellar delivery service.

So, at this point, it would seem that Futurama fans only need to wait a few years for some new Futurama-related release to come around.

Netflix to Release Bob Odenkirk’s “Girlfriend’s Day”

Netflix is smart to stay in the Bob Odenkirk business.

WIth Bob & David has only been on Netflix for a little bit and already, Netflix is planning their next move with Bob by picking up the film he stars in and co-wrote with Philip Zlotorynski and Eric Hoffman, Girlfriend’s Day.

In the movie, Odenkirk, as a greeting card writer, tries to clear his name from being accused of murder.

Like, Beasts of No Nation, you’ll have the chance to see it in limited release in theaters as well as on Netflix.

Between Better Call Saul, With Bob & David, this film, and probably more on the way, we’re glad to see Odenkirk back in the limelight as big as he has ever been.

Baron Vaughn, Hampton Yount, and Felicia Day Are Latest to Join MST3K Revival

We’re going to venture a guess that both the MST3K loyal and newcomers to Mystery Science Theater 3000 will be pleased with this news.

As the Kickstarter to bring back MST3K has already reached its initial goal and speeds towards its stretch goals, creator Joel Hodgson has announced the folks that will being playing the roles of Mad, Crow T. Robot, and Tom Servo as well go into some detail over the dynamics of this new iteration of MST3K.

Earlier today, Joel sent the update out that Felicia Day will be playing Mad (specifically Kinga Forrester, the daughter of Dr. Clayton Forrester), Hampton Yount will be filling the role of Crow T. Robot, and Baron Vaughn will be the next Tom Servo.

With Jonah Ray as the host, this almost rounds out a pretty swell cast, but, there seems to be a new role for an evil henchmen waiting to be announced.

Based off of who he got so far, we’re sure Joel has got someone great lined up for that role and that’s all the more reason that the Kickstarter should raise as much as it can to make as much new MST3K as possible.

Without Much Musical Ability to Really Speak of, Jon Benjamin Has Made a Jazz Album “Jon Benjamin-Jazz Daredevil: Well, I Should Have…*”

Of the many comedic talents of Jon Benjamin is known for, singing or playing instruments or doing anything musically aren’t any of them.

However, that didn’t stop Benjamin from making a jazz album with actual, very accomplished jazz musicians playing along side him or, as some musicians might say, “carry his ass”.

Coming this Fri., Nov. 27th, off of Sub Pop Records, Benjamin will releasing an experimental record of him attempting an entire jazz album entitled “Jon Benjamin-Jazz Daredevil: Well, I Should Have…* (*learned to play piano).

Let Jon himself tell you more about the project and, most importantly, why he’s doing it.

If you’re a fan of avant garde jazz and experimental comedy, like we are, you can pre-order this record from Sub Pop right now.

Comedy Central Orders “Corporate” Pilot from Matt Ingebretson, Jake Weisman, and Pat Bishop

Oh, we don’t know all the details, but really hope this goes to series soon because we suspect Matt, Jake, and Pat have something incredibly dark, but damn funny cooking.

Matt Ingebretson, Jake Weisman, and Pat Bishop have all made their way through the LA comedy scene doing stand-up and making various very funny sketches videos as Women Comedy, under their own names, etc.

Now, they’ve got their own pilot called Corporate, which will delve into the underbelly of the corporate world in a richly dark, satiric manner over at Comedy Central.

We can’t for sure, but perhaps it might be something a little like this fantastic Women sketch that Pat and Jake made awhile back.

There has been Dinner with Friends with Brett Gelman and Friends and Dinner with Family with Brett Gelman and Brett Gelman’s Family and now, according to Brett Gelman’s instagram, the very next dinner that Brett looks to be setting up will go a little broader than his last two dinner specials as he’ll be dining with America.

What we’re assuming is called Dinner with America with Brett Gelman and America (or maybe Dinner with American with Brett Gelman and Americans) is apparently set to premiere sometime in spring 2016.

This should give you ample time to prepare and catch up on the last two.
