IFC Has New, More Fitting Logo
Given the prevalence of offbeat comedy at IFC these days, this new logo is definitely more appropriate, wouldn’t you say?
There are slight echoes of Comedy Central’s old logo here, which, if you can see the small resemblance, is ironic as Comedy Central now has a logo that closer to IFC’s old one. Comedy Central and IFC haven’t changed places programming wise, but IFC definitely programs much more comedy in place of the many foreign indie documentaries as they used to air ten years ago.
IFC Takes a Tour of Marc Maron’s Garage
Leading up to the season premiere of Maron coming this Thurs. May 8th 10PM on IFC, here’s a nice little web series where Marc shows off his garage which includes a lot of fan art, both good and confusing.
Give it all a watch at the link.
Portlandia’s latest greatest sketch is this ad for a church just begging you to do anything with them. If you want, it can be your vision board. They’re game and have Ed Begley Jr. available for whatever you have in mind.
Watch the First Teaser for Maron Season 2
Here’s the first promo for the second season of Maron on IFC featuring an uncomfortable moment between Michael Ian Black and Marc Maron, cats, and Marc making fun of himself on WTF. You know, just a normal day in the life of Maron.
Season 2 premieres on May 8th at 10PM.
In a preview clip of this latest season of Comedy Bang! Bang!, coming May 8th on IFC, Patton Oswalt and Scott Aukerman have some exciting news about the news Star Wars movie. In fact, it’s both news to them.
Season 3 of Comedy Bang! Bang! Guest Stars Your Usual Favorites, Tony Hawk, Jenny Lewis and More
Even though season 3 of Comedy Bang! Bang! on IFC doesn’t have the massive episode order that season 4 will with a whopping 40 ordered in 2015, the guest star list for this season is still pretty great and pretty big.
Your usual suspects of Paul F. Tompkins, Bob Odenkirk, Lizzy Caplan, Nick Offerman, Fred Armisen, Weird Al Yankovic as well as the likes of skateboarding legend Tony Hawk, Jenny Lewis, Aimee Mann, Kate McKinnon, and more will be stopping by to have a moment with Scott Aukerman and Reggie Watts next month, starting May 8th.
IFC just unveiled its upcoming programming slate for 2015 and man, it’s a doozy.
They’ve ordered Comedy Bang! Bang! for an unprecedented 40 episodes (for perspective, most broadcast sitcoms get maybe 22 episodes for a full season order), another season of The Birthday Boys, American Storage (Rob Huebel plays a guy who lives at a storage facility by choice), an awards special from College Humor, American Documentary (a mockumentary series from Lorne Michaels), and two half-hour scripted comedies in development entitled Westside and The Bank.
Season 2 of Maron Premiering in May, Conan O’Brien, Tig Notaro, Bill Burr & More Guest Starring
IFC’s Maron will return on May 8th for its second season with a boatload of guest stars including the aforementioned Conan O’Brien, Tig Notaro, and Bill Burr as well as David Cross, Tom Kenny, Moshe Kasher, Paul Feig, Chris Hardwick, Dave Koechner, Eddie Pepitone, Andy Richter, and even more than the already stacked list.
It won’t be able to take place of your weekly obsession over True Detective as the premiere is over almost two months away, but it’ll surely take up your time when it airs.
Fred Savage to Direct/Executive Produce Garfunkel & Oates IFC Series
In case you haven’t heard the news by now, Fred Savage, likely better known to you as Kevin Arnold from seminal 90s series The Wonder Years, will be director and executive producer for the whole series of Garfunkel and Oates at IFC slated to debut this summer.
Whether it happens or not, we know that you’re imagining Garfunkel & Oates covering, possibly parodying Joe Cocker’s With a Little Help From My Friends.
At 10PM and 12:30AM tonight, you should be commandeering any TV near you, especially if you own it as as IFC’s Portlandia and Adult Swim’s Check It Out! with Dr. Steve Brule are respectively back with brand new seasons (seasons, also respectively, 4 and 3 to be specific).
Behind closed doors, the world of vegetable marketing is a lot more shady than you’d ever know.
Thanks to Portlandia and guest star Steve Buscemi, we just know how shady it can get. Watch “The Celery Incident” now.
Patton Oswalt Is Putting a Live Bird on the 2014 Spirit Awards
That’s right, Patton Oswalt will be giving out actual birds instead of statues for this year’s Spirit Awards.
All we have to say is that this could make for the best awards speeches of all time.
Here’s Preview of Portlandia Season 4/Prairie Home Companion Tailgating
Season 4 of Portlandia is officially less than a month away (10PM Feb. 27th on IFC) and to get you further in the spirit, there’s an exclusive preview over at EW of Portlandia’s “Prairie Home Companion Tailgating”.
It’s not like we need an excuse to post a Portlandia preview, but this is delightful.
Marc Maron To Direct His Own Episode of ‘Maron’
In this upcoming season of Maron on IFC, one episode will have been directed by Marc Maron himself.
So, for that episode, you could say Maron starring Marc Maron based on the life of Marc Maron will be directed by Marc Maron, which we thought was already happening anyway.
The follow up to Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon’s The Trip, The Trip to Italy is coming soon.
If there were two fellas to just have a conversation about minutia and it be pretty great, it would be Coogan and Brydon. Watch a clip from The Trip to Italy here.
The Spoils of Babylon Premieres Tonight on IFC
What might be the most epic comedy mini series (it certainly has the look for it) on TV, The Spoils of Babylon starring Tobey Maguire and Kristen Wiig premieres tonight on IFC at 10PM.
Let’s see if it’s a hilarious cross between The Heart She Holler and There Will Be Blood that we think it very well might be.
Eric Jonrosh’s The Spoils of Babylon coming to IFC this Thurs. Jan. 9th looks so rich accented with plenty ludicrous detail. From fake names to obvious model towns, this looks really promising.
Watch and see in the opening sequence/theme.
The entire first season of IFC’s Maron is now on Netflix for you to watch, so you could feasibly switch between listening to WTF and watching an episode of Maron with a few keystrokes.
Enjoy your latest TV binge.
The Most Intentionally Funny Videos of 2013 Part 2
This is part 2 of me going through my favorites of my favorites in 2013 as far as videos that made me fall into stuff laughing during our column at Nerdist, The Most Intentionally Funny Videos.
Included are Maron in Space, Sean Patton’s story about being gaybashed as a straight guy, Matt Damon vs. Jimmy Kimmel, and more.
IFC Head Of Original Programming Debbie DeMontreux Has Left IFC
Responsible for bringing much of what you love on IFC currently to IFC, including Portlandia and The Birthday Boys, Debbie DeMontreux has been an instrumental part in seemingly rebranding IFC as a comedy channel.
Now that she is gone from IFC and IFC is looking for a replacement, we can only guess where their programming slate will be headed next.
IFC’s Maron Will Be on Netflix After Christmas
Dec. 28th, you can watch episodes of IFC’s Maron from the comfort of your Netflix account.
It’ll be the perfect thing to accompany the eye of the holiday storm between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
Rob Huebel To Star In IFC Pilot ‘American Storage’
Believe it or not, this is not a parody of the popular reality TV series Storage Wars, which we’re sure Rob Huebel could satirize quite well in a leading roll.
Still, Huebel living in a storage unit and all the weirdness that comes with it is definitely grounds for a show we want to watch at IFC.
Website for IFC’s Spoils of Babylon Is Pretty Great
Jan. 9th 10PM could be a ways away for many of us, especially when you know that the epic comedy mini series Spoils of Babylon premieres then on IFC.
Luckily, there’s this fun site to keep us occupied that included, trailers, behind-the-scenes featurettes, book reviews by Eric Jonrosh (of Eric Jonrosh’s Spoils of Babylon), and more.
Season 4 of Portlandia Premieres Feb. 27th
Portlandia is finally coming back to IFC for its 4th season on Thurs. Feb. 27th at 10PM.
It’s the perfect thing to decompress right after the barrage of Olympics coverage.
