More networks are being a little more gracious with their content in this time of need, especially to those that do not have a subscription in order to watch exclusive shows. IFC, along with AMC, BBC America, and SundanceTV, are the latest networks to offer many hours of their original programming in front of a pay wall for everyone to stream and enjoy.

Specifically, IFC will be giving us all access to “…Baroness von Sketch Show, Birthday Boys, Spoils of Babylon, Spoils Before Dying, Bunk, Food Party, as well as select episodes from Comedy Bang Bang and Mystery Science Theatre 3000,” throughout all of April. There certainly is high brow silliness to revel in with this offering including old episodes of MST3K, but, for those who missed out, please go and enjoy Kurt Braunohler’s wild, completely faux game show, Bunk, that managed to work in Braunohler’s absurdist sensibilities to every inch of a game show format.

Get into all of these free IFC treats for this month right now over at IFC.com.

Michael K. Williams To Star in The Spoils of Babylon Follow-Up “The Spoils Before Dying” at IFC

Yes, it’s the Michael Kenneth Williams that played Omar on The Wire.

Following Tobey Maguire’s Devon Morehouse on IFC mini-series The Spoils of Babylon, Michael K. Williams will star in the upcoming iteration of “Spoils” written by “literary figure” Eric Jonrosh (Will Ferrell).

The follow-up will be called The Spoils Before Dying and Williams will play a jazz pianist in the Los Angeles of yesteryear that gets caught up in a web of deceit and lies in which he tries to clear his name.

We’re pretty sure Ferrell in a giant hat and a beard, Williams, and a beautifully and intentionally overwrought faux-dramatic mini-series is a winning combination.

AMC is moving forward with their potential foray into comedy as the comedy pilot We Hate Paul Revere has just got itself one fine director in Matt Piedmont. Piedmont co-created, co-wrote, and directed the fantastic mini-series Spoils of Babylon on IFC.

Given AMC branding and Piedmont’s pedigree, we’re incredibly curious to see what the end product is here and how great, like Spoils of Babylon, it will look.

IFC Orders Sequel to ‘Spoils of Babylon’, ‘The Spoils Before Dying’

Will Ferrell will again don a fedora and a giant beard as Eric Jonrosh to bring another tale of America’s past that’s wonderfully ridiculous as IFC has just ordered a follow up to the Spoils of Babylon mini series.

The cast has yet to be set for The Spoils Before Dying, but they’ll undoubtedly get an amazing ensemble cast like they did the first time. The loose description seems to be much more noir-ish than Spoils of Babylon.

Summer 2015, when this will premiere, can’t come soon enough.

The Spoils of Babylon Premieres Tonight on IFC

What might be the most epic comedy mini series (it certainly has the look for it) on TV, The Spoils of Babylon starring Tobey Maguire and Kristen Wiig premieres tonight on IFC at 10PM.

Let’s see if it’s a hilarious cross between The Heart She Holler and There Will Be Blood that we think it very well might be.

Eric Jonrosh’s The Spoils of Babylon coming to IFC this Thurs. Jan. 9th looks so rich accented with plenty ludicrous detail. From fake names to obvious model towns, this looks really promising.

Watch and see in the opening sequence/theme.

Watch Kristen Wiig and Tobey Maguire as Sibling Lovers in ‘Spoils of Babylon’ Teaser for IFC

Many of the overly wrought, heavy handed television dramas spanning the decades that TV has existed as a medium are going to get their send up in the upcoming IFC mini series ‘Spoils of Babylon’ produced by Funny or Die.

Just watch the gorgeous trailer that has all the makings of one hell of a parody.

Very few details are revealed in the teaser other than a promise of something astounding, but the anticipation of Will Ferrell doing a comedy mini-series over at IFC will undoubtedly grow over the next several months, especially since people like Kristen Wiig, Tim Robbins, Val Kilmer, Michael Sheen, and more will be in “The Spoils of Babylon” coming sometime in early 2014.

Tobey Maguire and Kristen Wiig Cast in Will Ferrell’s ‘Spoils Of Babylon’ on IFC

Tobey Maguire and Kristen Wiig will join Will Ferrell in his upcoming series at IFC making the already intensely intriguing ‘Spoils of Babylon’ even more so.

It’s moves like this that make us think that F in IFC doesn’t stand for films so much, anymore, as the C stands for comedy.

IFC Also Orders Will Ferrell’s Spoils of Babylon

Our apologies for missing this yesterday when we posted about the Birthday Boys series getting picked up. Anyhow, IFC is building quite the arsenal in regards to comedy programming and just might be able to stand toe to toe with any other comedy cable channel really soon.

Also, Will Ferrell will be starring on TV, so happy Friday to all of you.
