Trailer for the Final Season of “Review” Promises a Very, Very Uncertain Future for Host Forrest MacNeil

March 8, 2017

The lengths and depths of humanity that Forest MacNeil (Andy Daly) has been subjected to while doing two seasons of Review are beyond comprehension.

Yet, this trailer reveals a third and final season that somehow gets Forrest to go through the gauntlet yet again and put his life and the lives of others in plenty of danger for the sake of reviewing the “human experience”.

It is one of the best shows that Comedy Central has ever made.

See for yourself in this trailer and then look for the season 3 premiere of Review next week on Thursday, March 16th.

If you didn’t get a chance to catch the wondrous Kurt Braunohler’s special on air on Comedy Central, fret not.

It’s now available as an album that you can get conveniently off of iTunes.

Kurt’s observations often tango with the dark side of things or highlight the dark underbelly of everyday minutia, but do so with a bouncy, colorful flourish that always leaves us satisfied and smiling.

It’s just Kurt doing stand-up, but it’s still pretty damn great. See for yourself in this clip.

A Weekly Jim Jefferies Late Night Show Will Premiere on Comedy Central This Summer

Jim Jefferies, who has always been an unfiltered comedian that dives head first into touchy subjects, is now getting a weekly late night show on Comedy Central where he can offer his take on the insanity that’s going on that week.

Jefferies’ recent Netflix special got a lot of attention for his bit on gun control and Jim also made headlines when he told Piers Morgan to “f*ck off” on Real Time with Bill Maher.

There aren’t any specifics on the format (or even an title), but we hope that Jefferies allows for plenty of debate on his show.

At the beginning of the year, San Francisco always has one of the biggest comedy festivals in the world, SF Sketchfest.

Just announced today, SF will be getting another giant comedy festival in the summertime, specifically June 2nd-4th, brought to you by Comedy Central.

The first ever Clusterfest has a gigantic line-up of the sort proportions and depth that Comedy Central can summon. It’s also the flip of most big time music and arts festival in that it’s mostly comedy with a bit of music as opposed to there being a comedy tent and lots and lots and lots of music a la Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, etc. (Note: producers of both those festivals are involved here). See the line-up below or in this glitterbomb filled announcement video here.

Tickets/passes go on sale this Thursday, March 2nd here. They range from $199.50 earlybird pass-$599.50 VIP Pass.

For us, any time Rory Scovel has a mic in his hand and is on stage is required viewing.

Please watch and enjoy it here.

Forrest MacNeil and his never ending quest to review “life” no matter how it ruins his life will have its final chapters starting Thursday, March 16th on Comedy Central.

This is without a doubt one of the best series that Comedy Central has made and Andy Daly gives Forrest a weirdly undeniable charm despite making pretty much nothing but awful decisions every step of the way.

Last weekend, Joe DeRosa’s first hour special premiered on Comedy Central. We hope you didn’t miss it as DeRosa delivered a great hour of meticulously crafted, dark stand-up.

That being said, the album version of the special is now available so you can still listen to You Let Me Down if you didn’t see it on TV or you can just have to listen whenever you feel like it (as opposed to waiting for it to air again).

Get You Let Me Down off of iTunes here. Also, it’s streaming on Spotify.

Also, You Let Me Down will be available as an album from Comedy Central Records next week on Tuesday, February 7th.

Comedy Central Presents for The Middle East Is Underway

Comedy Central is making good on their investment for making a Comedy Central in the Middle East and North Africa.

Comedians from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Sudan, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates will be featured on their own version of the Comedy Central Presents franchise.

We’ll be curious to see who stands out from the pack in this series and if they’ll get to transition to playing on Comedy Central in the U.S. If the right comic/comics is/are found, this could be not only great for Comedy Central, but great for normalizing people from the Middle East and pushing the art form of comedy around the world.

If this goes well enough, maybe Gorburger could host the Critics Choice Awards next year?

This second season of Ian Abramson’s stand-up-comedy-equivalent-of-a-Skinner-Box, 7 Minutes in Purgatory, really showcases the stark contrast of what performing comedy without an audience while another audience enjoys it in a separate, remote location.

Just see how Maria Bamford beautifully handles performing in front of a 1000 empty seats while there’s a smaller, but mightier number of warm bodies three stories above her thoroughly delighting in her performance.

You can also see how host Ian Abramson, Jon Dore, Michelle Buteau, Colton Dunn, Caitlin Gill and Bobcat Goldthwait all handled the existential quandary of 7 Minutes in Purgatory in all different sorts of ways as well some inside commentary from their fellow performers/purgatory dwellers.
