Norman Lear Has Contemplated a Reboot of “All in the Family”

(via Deadline)

At 92 years old, the legendary Norman Lear may be bringing his transformative sitcom “All in the Family” back to television.

While being interviewed by Netflix’s Ted Sarandos, he revealed that he has toyed with the idea that a reboot of the show might center on a Latino family this time around. In fact, it was Sony Pictures TV  that was asking about possibility of this All in the Family reboot happening with Lear.

While there are no more details as to how and when this would all happen if it were to even happen (Lear seemed to be leaning towards not making much more than conjecture), the thought of All in the Family and Norman Lear mixing in with the current crop of family sitcoms is an enticing one. Maybe he’ll talk about this a little more when he’s on Letterman tonight.

When Jerry Seinfeld was going to have Bill Burr on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, it was probably clear what car he was going to drive Bill around in the moment he thought of bringing Bill on as a guest.

So, Seinfeld drives Bill around LA in a classic muscle car, a Ford Mustang Boss 302, and they have coffee, talk about the quiet rage of Seinfeld, and smoke cigars in the daytime.

Watch all of that here in the latest episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.

The thankfully high concept single camera sitcom Last Man on Earth has finally gotten a premiere date. This series from Hollywood’s current comedy golden boys, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, starring Will Forte has had us excited ever since we saw a trailer earlier this year.

Sun. Mar. 1st will be the day when we get to see Forte walk the earth solo and, with that, it should be a pretty good day.

Tina Fey and Robert Carlock’s “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” Moves From NBC to Netflix

(via Deadline)

It shouldn’t be surprising that another network lets go of another sitcom on their programming schedule these days, but, in the case of “The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” from Tina Fey and Robert Carlock starring Ellie Kemper, the show hadn’t even premiered yet.

Still, going with network trends towards drama, NBC is letting go of the series to Netflix where it has two seasons ordered as well as an expanded episode order for its first season. NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt even admits, “While it was originally developed for NBC, we have a very drama-heavy midseason schedule, so we’re thrilled about this Netflix opportunity.”

So, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt will be another thing to watch for on Netflix like a bunch of other series that you’re probably streaming right now while reading this sentence.

If You’re Wondering Why The Jon Lovitz Comedy Club Is Closed…

(via The Hollywood Reporter)

Currently, The Jon Lovitz Comedy Club at Universal CityWalk has shut down and ceased any and all operations. Their Twitter avatar even reads “CLOSED”.

Now, you might wondering why that might be.

Well, there has been a financial dispute between the club’s namesake Jon Lovitz and the man Lovitz hired to manage the club, Frank Kelley. Both alleged several claims of irresponsible handling of money for and made by The Jon Lovitz Comedy Club. Such claims include Lovitz saying Kelley pocketed money for performers and Kelley saying Lovitz not offering needed financial backing for the venue.

However, both have now amicably resolved the dispute, but the club still remains closed and, according to our sources, they might be moving to another new location. Details on when and where they would happen, if that is indeed the next step for The Jon Lovitz Comedy Club, have yet to be announced.

For instance, this first episode has Lauren in character as a guest on Paul F. Tompkins one-off podcast Public Domain. We’re hooked on the idea alone and we’ll be listening to this before we’re even going to try to catch up with the rest of you with Serial.
