Kristen Wiig to Team Up Again with Will Ferrell in Dark Comedy Feature
Adding to Anchorman 2 and the upcoming IFC mini-series Spoils of Babylon, Kristen Wiig is joining the cast of another Will Ferrell project. It’s a dark comedy, which should be expected from the likes of both Ferrell and Wiig, but we’re excited anyway to see what comes from three collaborations in one year.
If you haven’t seen the amazing Rory Scovel play some sort of teacher or principal, just know he’s pretty damn funny as one. Case in point, check him as an AV Club teacher trying to profile normal people that have fallen on hard times, which goes quickly from a lesson in documentary to gonzo journalism with a great cameo from Matt Jones.
If you’re going to Comic Con, you might need a guide to cosplay (dressing up in costumes for the uninitiated) and possibly a guide to specifically black cosplay.

Jerry Seinfeld Has Coffee with Chris Rock Then Gets Pulled Over for Speeding
On this episode of Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, Seinfeld has Chris Rock tag along with another normal day in the life of ultra successful comedians having coffee, driving around in a Lamborghini, and talking comedy.

30 Rock, Girls, Louie, Modern Family, Veep, Parks and Recreation, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon got Emmy nominations this morning as they have becoming seemingly perennial comedy awards frontrunners. Also, Between Two Ferns, Childrens’ Hospital, Burning Love, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, and Robot Chicken garnered nominations in a special series category.
We’re glad to see that Portlandia, Mel Brooks, Louis CK’s special, Adventure Time, and Bob’s Burgers got nominated for Emmys as well. In a perfect world, they’d all win we suppose.

John Roy to Launch “Don’t Ever Change” Podcast on Feral Audio Soon
Feral Audio is bringing another very intriguing podcast with comedian John Roy’s Don’t Ever Change. It’s a podcast where the very funny Roy interviews other very funny people like Sean Patton, James Adomian, Jay Larson, and more and the towns where they came from, grew up in, and how they affected them in such a way that they’ve become the, as said above, very funny people they are now.
Don’t Ever Change is scheduled to come out at the end of this month, but we’ll get you more details when it comes out.
So instead of having beef with various creative endeavors that call themselves “The Midnight Show”, Pete Holmes’ show that will follow Conan this fall, specifically Mon. Oct. 28th at MIDNIGHT at TBS, will be called The Pete Holmes Show.
Watch Pete be joyful about the news as well as joyful in general on Conan last night.

Bill Hader Will Write for South Park Next Season
Not that one of the longest running shows at Comedy Central, South Park, needed a shot in the arm, but Bill Hader joining in at South Park as announced yesterday at Comic Con will definitely make for a very intriguing season especially given their lightning fast concept to finished episode process.
We wonder if Hader’s weird impressions will end up being South Park characters.
Taylor Williamson did the second round of America’s Got Talent and was killing it off of just trying to start his set.
Give it a watch here and let’s hope he advances.
There Might Be a Woody Allen/Louis C.K. Buddy Comedy in The Works
We wonder if this will invent a new dynamic for the buddy comedy sub genre branching away from Crosby/Hope, Gibson/Glover, Wilson/Vaughn, or a Bullock/McCarthy chemistry.

Marc Maron and Jeff Ross Join ‘Flock of Dudes’
It’s interesting that a movie called “Flock of Dudes” that just added the cast of Marc Maron and Jeff Ross already having Hannibal Buress and Eric Andre in the cast who are all comics that really rally against the label of dude.
Either way, we’re further intrigued by this so-described “bro-breakup movie”.
Claudia O’Doherty’s latest episode of her exploratory series of England covers the important English issue of time/personal issue of Claudia running into a hot guy while doing a field segment and subsequently flirting with him.

Honestly, we can’t figure out why CBS didn’t post the very funny Cristela Alonzo’s stand-up set from The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson this week on their official YouTube page as it was pretty great.

We’ve been doing our podcast, This Better Be Funny, for over a year now and while we’ve enjoyed riffing it out with some of the funniest comedians we can catch at anywhere from their car to an alley to a dive bar to a Denny’s to the stairs of a Church, we’re trying a little experiment coming next week.
Given that co-host Jeremy Paul has been oft-described as evil and has the stories to back it up, we thought it would be pretty great if we had our guests try to “out-despicable” Jeremy with a story of their own for the prize of a cassette tape of their choice* (*that’s what Jeremy had on hand for a prize). Co-host Jake Kroeger will decide, after the guest’s story and a story of Jeremy’s chosen from slips of paper by the guest, which is more detestable and if the guest wins said cassette tape* (cassette tape player not provided).
The first episode of this ‘Despicable mini-series’ on This Better Be Funny starts off with some pretty great depravity with Alex Hooper this Monday, so tune in then.

There’s a New Comedy Film Festival to Submit to in The LA Comedy Ninja Festival
From the early bird submission fees of $20-$40 (the prices will go up the end of this month), you can enter your films and screenplays, short and feature length, into the newest comedy film festival in Los Angeles, The LA Comedy Ninja Festival.
If you’re looking to rack up those festival credits with your comedy film/screenplay here in LA, this might be a good place to start, especially since the last deadline is in January of next year.
