1) We were wondering what happened after this article was posted, but Brody Stevens/@allthingsbrody is tweeting again…

I’m at the #UCLA Psych Ward… 14-day #HOLD #PovitiveEnergy + magnets #JEWISH #SMART #818 = #HEALTHY 🙂

2) There are AMAZING THINGS happening at the Nerdist Theater, affectionately known as NerdMelt, and if you want to be a part of such events/happenings, they’re looking for interns.

3) Co-Ed Magazine makes a list of “The 11 Most Relevant Stand-up Comedians”. Going off of their definition of relevant, “…having a connection with your audience,” it’s a decent list with Louis C.K., Aziz Ansari, Daniel Tosh, Donald Glover, Whitney Cummings, and more.  However, there are incredibly notable omissions: Doug Stanhope, Paul F. Tompkins, Chelsea Handler, Chris Hardwick, and Marc Maron.

4) Nerve.com lists five young comedians who should be movie stars. Yeah, we’d like to see Jamie Lee, Hannibal Buress, John Mulaney and Morgan Murphy in a bank heist movie.

5) The Joan Rivers episode of Louie is downright inspiring and right here.

The Morning After…Podcast w/ Lily LaBeau & Megan Amram

jakeweismanyay:

On this episode we welcome performer Lily LaBeau and comedian/writer Megan Amram. We discuss Lily’s start in porn, coming from an open-minded household, doing intense scenes, and the differences between dating male talent and DJs. We also discuss Lily and Megan dealing with fans online, Megan’s phone sex parody video, and the group seals a best friendship deal. But that all goes away in mere seconds when Dogs Vs. Cats takes center stage and causes a major upset for one host and a major victory for the other.

Performance Anxiety is back again, as it is customary for bi-weekly comedy shows to re-appear once every two weeks. For $7 you get FREE BEER, FREE PARKING (which is practically TV-credit worthy in LA) and this fantastic line-up:

Eddie Pepitone
Melissa Villasenor
Jerrod Carmichael
Thai Rivera
Adam Cayton-Holland
TJ Miller
Eli Olsberg

Remember the part at the beginning where it said FREE BEER & FREE PARKING? Yeah, that hasn’t changed since you got to the bottom of this post!!

5) Former writer on Norm’s Sports Show and hilarious stand-up, Sean O’Connor, will make an appearance on Conan tomorrow (TBS 11PM).

6) Doug Stanhope hates performing in Edinburgh and having to shove jokes down American throats every 90 seconds.

7) The Serial Optimist does a much better job in naming the most fashionable comedians than GQ, but there’s still no nod to the impeccable style of Greg Proops.

8) Tommy Johnagin leaves a note lying around that Joe Zimmerman isn’t supposed to find… or is he?

9) With the news of Laughing Stock, a show with Steve Carell interviewing comedians, being developed at Showtime, there’s now a Facebook event to help The Green Room with Paul Provenza to get renewed. As funny as I’m sure Carell will be, please help the Green Room stay on the air.

gq, marc maron, my work, wtf with marc maron

zachdionne:

I wrote about the WTF with Marc Maron podcast for GQ’s comedy issue in July. It ended up as an iPad-only bonus and I’ve had the PDF forever but am just now remembering to share it with you guys. I was so thankful to have the opportunity to write this (what up, master editress Lauren Bans!) and even more so to be able to hand a printout of the piece to Maron in person at his last Bell House gig in Brooklyn. Marc more openly gracious than I had any right to expect.

Hope you dig the piece. Maybe clicking it will make it bigger/more readable? [Edit: No, it won’t. Boo.]

Everyone should go and see Jackie Kashian live, no matter what she does.

The eye-slide was my favorite thing tonight.

This has been a year of me trying new stuff. That is defined as doing shows that make me nervous or scared to fail, mostly. Oh. And turning down work for silly stupid money. Which just makes me tired.

Tonight I did Persona, a character show…
