Chris Gethard Wants to Really Go All Out at Fusion and Says That “The Chris Gethard Show” Will Probably Debut in May

February 19, 2015
Uncategorized
chris gethard, fusion, the chris gethard show

In his latest communiqué, Chris Gethard has said that we will all have to look to May for the cable network TV premiere of The Chris Gethard Show.

On top of that, he has some ideas of what he wants to do with having a budget and the backing of a network behind them.

Chris made a list that includes these things and way more we hope all happens within the ten episodes that they have ordered:

– I want to have the entire audience serve as my personal trainer.
– I want our audience to raise an animal together.
– Currently having an object buried somewhere in North America. It is a very valuable object. The show – both the televised version and all of our online output (including this) have a series of clues that can lead you to the object. Whoever gets the object will realize that it is not just monetarily valuable, but will give them a role in our show they’ve never dreamed of. I will never mention this again.
– I’m currently doing a lot of research and surveillance on a lonely teen who lives in either Pennsylvania, Ohio, or Indiana. I list all three so you and s/he won’t know it’s them. I am learning everything about him/her and plan on giving them a triumphant moment during the ten-week run of our show. They will have no idea it is happening until it is happening.
– There are a lot of terrestrial radio frequencies in remote parts of America that do not broadcast. On one of them there is currently a looped ten minute message being sent out via pirating devices. The ten minute message gives you explicit instructions on ways you can win a trip to New York City to attend our show live. It is on you to find the location and frequency of the broadcast. I can tell you that it is within a three hour drive of a city with a population of over 150,000.

If Chris pulls all of this off, this would be literal groundbreaking television.

However, when back on Conan, and it’s back to the old days as well as Conan making fun of Robert Smigel barely being able to handle a puppet.

Whalerock Industries, which used to be BermanBraun, is looking to package a bundle of networks/channels/etc. that are driven by the entire individual personalities such as Howard Stern and Tyler The Creator.

The networks are set to be subscription based online, but there are plans to head for cable and modes of distribution as well.

We’re now curious what Stern and Tyler will do programming wise outside of the radio show and Loiter Squad respectively.

Matt Ingebretson, who we feature a lot here, has put together an entire collection of short form pieces from some of the funniest people currently in and around Los Angeles for The Impolite: A Collection of Comedic Lit From LA.

Those people include such comedy folks as:

Megan Amram, Nathan Buckley, Eric Dadourian, Raj Desai, Emily Heller, Karen Kilgariff, Megan Koester, Yassir Lester, Aparna Nancherla, Eddie Pepitone, Sean Tejaratchi, Amber Tozer, David Venhuizen, Patrick Walsh, Jay Weingarten, Jake Weisman, Nick Wiger, and Allen Strickland Williams.

The book has everything from “…high-concept humor to idiotic poetry to a detailed factual account of how Cash Money Records caused a rift between a step-father and his son,” says Ingebretson.

So, with all of that being said, we suggest taking $10 and spending on it buying and enjoying “The Impolite”.

Of the Oscar nominated pictures in the Foreign Language Film category this year, Damián Szifron’s Wild Tales (titled Relatos Salvajes when originally released in Argentina) presented by Pedro Almodovar stands out as it combines a bits of a comedy and a thriller in a few stories that represent a revenge anthology. The premise kind of reminds us a little of the brilliant Seven Psychopaths from Martin McDonagh.

See what we’re talking about in the trailer here and if your interest has been peaked, you can perhaps catch Wild Tales in limited release this Fri. Feb. 20th.

For those of you that had thought that John Oliver was going to possibly leave Last Week Tonight to replace Jon Stewart later this year at The Daily Show, you obviously aren’t aware of how good Oliver has it over at HBO and how much HBO is into Oliver.

Today, that was all made clear by HBO announcing that two 35 episode seasons of Last Week Tonight have been ordered that will air in 2016 and 2017 separately.

Aside from possibly narrowing your list on who is coming to The Daily Show desk, rejoice in the fact that will have almost three more years of Oliver at his own desk doing stuff like this week’s takedown of Big Tobacco.

Oft referred to as the Egyptian Jon Stewart, Bassem Youssef hosted a hit satirical news show in Egypt called Al Bernameg. However, as free speech seems to be more limited over there than it is here, Youssef ran into problems when poking fun at those in power.

A documentary is being made about his trials and tribulations in trying to pull off what he pulled off called Tickling Giants. They’re looking to crowdfund $150,000 on Indiegogo by Mar. 10th. As of this post, they have raised $47,827.

If you donate $20, you’ll get a digital download of the movie, but, in general, any amount donated to this project is definitely going to a good cause for both comedy and free speech.

One of the longest running comedy publications in existence, MAD Magazine, has invited Weird Al Yankovic to be a guest editor for the next issue.

With his acceptance of the invitation, Yankovic will apparently be the magazine’s first guest editor.

Yankovic will also be joining in other noted comedy folks like Key & Peele with Entertainment Weekly  or Judd Apatow with Vanity Fair recently guest editing the magazine’s comedy issues.

As you can clearly tell, he’s been dreaming of this for awhile:

The latest story on This Is Not Happening with Ari Shaffir comes from Barry Rothbart and the events that transpired on his 18th birthday.

At this point, we’ll just say that Barry got taken to Atlantic City by his Dad and after everything that went down, Atlantic City lived up to it’s shady reputation.

Watch it here.

March is just around the corner, which means The Late Late Show with James Corden is almost set to premiere. In the meantime, the interim period of The Late Late Show is still in effect and, this week, they have very intriguing guests hosts in Thomas Lennon, Lauren Graham and Will Arnett.

Lennon is scheduled for Mon-Wed., Graham on Thurs., and Arnett for Fri.

In addition to their hijinks, Weird Al Yankovic, Natasha Leggero, Nick Kroll, Matthew Perry, Tom Papa, Jimmy Kimmel, John Krasinski, and David Cross are all set to be guests this week too.

Take note that Lennon has voiced Craig Ferguson’s robot skeleton sidekick Geoffrey Peterson at The Late Late Show from time to time and perhaps he’ll do it again.

Find out what happens (two weeks ago, they had the Super Bowl Sharks on) by tuning in to CBS at 12:35AM all week long.
