Watch James Adomian Play Bernie Sanders Playing @midnight

September 17, 2015
Uncategorized

The master impressionist and one of our favorite comedians around, James Adomian, got to bring his latest and greatest impression on @midnight with Chris Hardwick last night.

Of course, James gave a great glimpse of what the spirited Sen. Sanders could bring to the podium of a game show along side Heather Anne Campbell and Jon Daly.

Please enjoy some shouting and pointing that wasn’t in the Republican presidential debates last night.

Maybe Sen .Sanders will have Adomian’s impression of him as a running mate?

History Channel Orders Comedy Debate Show “Join or Die with Craig Ferguson” to Series

Craig Ferguson is damn good at talking to people on TV and we’re glad that he’s getting to do it without the impetus of guests promoting things.

In an interesting turn for the History Channel, they’re going to have a panel debate show hosted by a comedian, Craig Ferguson, on Join or Die. Famous folks and historical experts will mix it up and debate various best/worst queries throughout history.

16 episodes have been ordered and we can’t help but think that comedian history buffs Conan O’Brien and Nick Offerman will want to be guests.

HBO Orders Pete Holmes Comedy Pilot “Crashing” To Be Directed and Produced by Judd Apatow

September 17, 2015

(via Deadline)

We knew it was only a matter of time before Pete Holmes got another show.

Pete Holmes has written a pilot about the time in his life where he just gotten divorced and was crashing on a couch of comedian friends, hence the title.

You’ve probably heard plenty about this on Pete’s podcast You Made It Weird, but seeing it actually played out on a sitcom is very intriguing.

It would seem more than probably that Pete would have all his friends on the show, which would mean we’d all get to see Kumail Nanjiani on yet another premium cable show.

Anomalisa is set for a limited theatrical release on Dec. 30th.

What started as a stop motion that received a whole lot of love on Kickstarter has gotten a whole lot of love on the film festival circuit.

The brilliant Charlie Kaufman wrote and co-directed, with Starburns Industries’ Duke Johnson, Anomalisa, which Paramount Pictures has acquired while at the Toronto International Film Festival for distribution very soon.

So, come Christmas time, we’ll get to see both Star Wars and Kaufman’s vision of “a man crippled by the mundanity of his life”. Sounds pretty great to us.

Comedy Central has just announced that they’re re-upping the replacement for The Colbert Report, The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, for another whole year as things have sailed seemingly quite well for Wilmore.

2016 being an election year should prove a good time for both The Nightly Show as well as The Daily Show with its new host, Trevor Noah.

May Wilmore get to keep on keepin’ It 100 for many more years to come.

Jim Gaffigan To Perform for Pope Francis and Hundreds of Thousands of People at Festival of Families in Philadelphia

September 15, 2015
Uncategorized
festival of families, jim gaffigan, pope francis

Gaffigan’s upcoming performance might be one of the biggest stand-up comedy performances in history.

Most arenas hold somewhere around 20,000 people and stadiums hold somewhere just north of 100,000. When it comes to live comedy, most acts top their attendance numbers around the 20K mark, even if they’re playing a stadium just for sheer logistics.

That being said, Jim Gaffigan is about to probably perform for a much larger crowd than any venue could hold by performing up the upcoming Catholic Church’s Festival of Families along with Aretha Franklin, Andrea Bocelli, Juanes, and more being held in Philadelphia, PA next week.

Gaffigan revealed the gig while appearing on Conan last night and is definitely surprised at what he’s being tasked to do.

To give you an idea of how many might be in attendance, an estimated 350,000 people came out to the Festival of Families in Milan, Italy in 2012.

Let’s hope Jim doesn’t run into any of the same Philly crowd that Bill Burr famously did almost 10 years ago.

Screen Junkies delve into the tropes and more that drove Furious 7 to not need a Fast in the title to gross over $1.5 billion worldwide in their Honest Trailer for it.

Along with Jim Carrey’s pilot about the LA comedy scene in the 1970s, Showtime seems really interested in going deep about comedy.

Andrew Dice Clay has a series that follows his life of currently trying to make a comeback, which is especially intriguing after his surprisingly good turn in Blue Jasmine.

Natasha Leggero, who is on a roll right now with Another Period and her comedy special, will play a girlfriend of Dice and only makes this latest comedian semi-autobiographical series all the more intriguing.

John Oliver Is Shutting Down Our Lady of Perpetual Exemption Because People Were Sending Sperm Through The Mail

hbo, john oliver, last week tonight, our lady of perpetual exemption

Our church is shutting down. Please do not send any further donations. For more information visit http://t.co/2OHLkgd7i3.

Well, we guess some people, probably those being ripped off by televangelists, didn’t appreciate John Oliver’s pointed report on how they’re being ripped off.

Thus, actions were taken which resulted in John Oliver posting this letter at OurLadyofPerpetualExemption.com:

It is I, Megareverend and C.E.O. of Our Lady of Perpetual Exemption Church, Pastor John Oliver.

We thank you for all your kind donations, but I’m sorry to report that we have closed down the church. And let me take a moment to explain why – it’s certainly not because we have to.

We have still, miraculously, not broken any laws by promising you untold riches in return for sending us money. We’re also not closing down because you all kept sending us actual seeds, even though we explicitly told you not to. We’re closing because multiple people sent us sperm through the mail. And when someone sends you jizz through the mail, it’s time to stop whatever you’re doing.

So we are shutting this s**t down. Praise be!

P.S. All previous monetary donations have been forwarded to Doctors Without Borders. We did not send the sperm.

While it’s unfortunate that this great bit of satire got shut down, we’d like to think Oliver and his team at Last Week Tonight will get onto something even way better than Our Lady of Perpetual Exemption very soon.
