TruTV Orders Bobcat Goldthwait Anthology Series “Bobcat Goldthwait’s Messed Up Stories”

August 2, 2016
Uncategorized
anthology, bobcat goldthwait, messed up stories, series order, trutv

It looks like Bobcat Goldthwait will finally bring his filmic vision (a la World’s Greatest Dad, Windy City Heat, Sleeping Dogs Lie, God Bless America), which he has been celebrated for, on to the small screen.

TruTV’s latest series order is quite the doozy as they’re giving Bobcat Goldthwait, who had been serving as a director on Those Who Can’t on TruTV, his own show that allows Bobcat to tell an anthology of different stories in different genres, all at his own whim.

Whether it be “1970s-era science fiction, psychological thriller, romantic comedy and reality”, Goldthwait will get to put his lens on it, which is reliably dark, unapologetic, and always hysterical.

If you’ve seen Bobcat’s work as an auteur, you’d know this is a big deal.

If that sounds enticing to you, get a look at the first preview clip of McGinley as Stan saving, kind of, Janet Varney from an undead witch.

Love him or hate him (an order for more episodes suggests the former), Adam Conover is really good at being a informative killjoy.

From the looks of the new trailer of Adam Ruins Everything, Conover has a whole new array of things that we take for granted that he’ll meticulously pick apart with jokes and very slick production.

Look for the new episodes of Adam Ruins Everything on Tuesday, August 23rd at 10PM on TruTV.

Take note of how The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, for the moment at least, is kind of like The Colbert Report, but without Stephen Colbert being in character.

We hope that continues just like the segment now known as The Werd.

What might the popular physical feat competition show America Ninja Warrior be like after fed through the filter of The Eric Andre Show, you ask?

Well, it’ll be rappers freestyling while blindfolded and attempting to deal with obstacles that are more, shall we say, “messed up” than they are physically demanding.

See what we’re saying by watching Rapper Warrior Ninja here.

Full Frontal with Samantha Bee to Do Hour Long Election Specials and Up Digital Presence

That’s all good with us.

Samantha Bee and Full Frontal have not let us down with their election coverage, especially after buying a Herman Cain bus to travel to the RNC and putting Sam’s face over Herman’s.

We can’t wait to see what Sam does with these upcoming specials and mid-week segments.

Mike Lawrence is indeed the very first champion of the first Roast Battle tournament, presented by Roastmaster General Jeff Ross. His victory comes after beating a formidable final opponent in Sarah Tiana last night while up at JFL Montreal.

That trophy is a pretty fitting for Roast Battle, by the way. If you saw how Mike roasts throughout out this whole thing, you wouldn’t be surprised if he pulled off another championship run if Comedy Central opted to do another one.

Jon Stewart’s Digital Animated Series at HBO to Be Parody of Cable News Network and on Track to Premiere Before General Election

If you’ve seen any of Jon Stewart’s recent appearances on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, you can reasonably assume that Jon will be coming back to having his own show with full force.

Also, the fact that he’ll be on HBO and it’ll be animated satirical parody of cable news would make us guess that Jon is definitely not sparing any of his well-channeled, honed, sharpened comedic verve (i.e. business as usual).

This series can’t come soon enough.

“Trump vs Bernie” with Anthony Atamanuik and James Adomian Comes to a Close with Live Album

It’s all official now.

The 2016 Presidential Election will be between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

That’s unfortunate as this contest, with Bernie Sanders having dropped out, now has left the brilliant satirical parody of Trump vs. Bernie, orchestrated masterfully by Anthony Atamanuik and James Adomian hanging.

So, with that in mind, Atamanuik and Adomian have retired Trump vs. Bernie for now, but have made sure give us all one last parting gift: a Trump vs. Bernie album.

Trump vs. Bernie: Live in Brooklyn was just released yesterday on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Spotify, and will come out on vinyl in November.

Of all the political comedy in this election, Trump vs. Bernie stood out from the pack and you should definitely get their album to remember/find out what that was.

Tim Kaine, the fluent Spanish, very affable VP pick of Hillary Clinton, has been received quite nicely by many Democrats.

In fact, it has inspired one notable comedian/author Sara Benincasa to write and publish fan fiction based on Sara’s idea of Tim Kaine being “ the world’s nicest dad who just wants you to stay safe and have a nice time out there”, which she is aptly calling Tim Kaine Is Your Nice Dad.

Half of the proceeds from this book will go to Great Expectations, a VA non profit that helps foster kids go from community college to the workforce.

If the idea of Tim Kaine fan fic sounds good to you, you can get it on Kindle here.
