Paul Scheer Is Now Making Alien Comic Books

We’re not necessarily into comic books a lot here, but a series of them from Paul Scheer definitely peaks our interest. And, it’s centered on aliens?

That’s even better.

Really, any form where Scheer gets to let his imagination run wild has usually proven to be pretty great.

Rita Moreno To Co-Star In Amy Poehler’s NBC Comedy Pilot ‘Old Soul’

So, this news will make it Natasha Lyonne and Rita Moreno in a comedy pilot together produced by Amy Poehler and put Old Soul into an even higher profile this pilot season than it already is.

If this gets picked up, maybe there will be a crossover episode between Amy’s other series she produces, Broad City.

Unpublished Charlie Chaplin Novel Discovered and Restored in Italy

Though being known for his physical comedy that relied on a few title cards cut in between shots, silent film comedy legend Charlie Chaplin wrote as well.
Floodlights is this very novel by Chaplin, leaning towards being autobiographical for how it apparently focuses on a life of a comedian, probably the first book of its kind and will only now be published later this year.

Power Violence’s Whitmer Thomas Joins Comedy Central Pilot ‘Crazy House’

The Comedy Central pilot Crazy House by the amazing Nick Turner and Lee Rubenstein just gets better and better.

First off, it’s a comedy pilot from Turner and Rubenstein, which is already great and now, great indie comedy group Power Violence’s Whitmer Thomas will play opposite Turner.

Just to see what this would be, we want to see this picked up to series.

We’ve been waiting to see anything from the satirical take on the titular Silicon Valley from Mike Judge premiering in early April on HBO.

Finally, there is a teaser trailer that’s pretty great as well as featuring the awesome cast of Kumail Nanjiani, Martin Starr, Thomas Middleditch, Josh Brener, and T.J. Miller.

It’s short, but you’ll definitely be more up for April after seeing it. Watch it at the link.

Open Road Acquires Barry Levinson’s All-Star Comedy ‘Rock the Kasbah’

Rock the Kasbah will feature Bill Murray, Bruce Willis, Kate Hudson, Danny McBride, Shia LaBeouf and Zooey Deschanel as well as being directed by Barry Levinson (Good Morning Vietnam, Wag The Dog) and is supposed to film this summer.
So, you should be looking out for this. Also, given the title of the movie, we’d like to imagine if the, for whatever reason, The Clash’s song Rock The Kasbah couldn’t be in the soundtrack or any trailers.

Bonnaroo Lineup Announcement To Be Hosted by Taran Killam and Hannibal Buress

We can’t think of, off the top our head, another festival that does its line-up  announcement awards show style, but good move going with Taran Killam and Hannibal Buress. We’re sure, with those two in place in addition to The Flaming Lips and more, it’ll be a fun thing to watch.

Take note, The Oscars and several other awards shows.

YouTube To Crack Down on Bogus Video Views

Supposedly, this will only affect a relatively minimal amount of videos on YouTube, but the result has yet to be seen, though it would be hard to see why comedy sketches and web videos would get docked views.

Perhaps, everyone who did a Harlem Shake video will get a few thousand views taken off?

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler Returning to Host Golden Globes in 2015

This is great news and should be a surprise to no one. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are arguably at the top of comedy right now with as many great projects their involved in/responsible for and it would be almost dumb for The Golden Globes to not have them back.

In fact, Tina and Amy to the The Golden Globes might just have become like Billy Crystal used to be to The Oscars.

Erinn Hayes to Co-Star in NBC’s Casey Wilson, June Diane Raphael Pilot

Erinn Hayes makes a great addition to what we had a feeling would be a great pilot from Casey Wilson and June Diane Raphael, which one of a few projects that is making a solid case for NBC’s development slate right now.

Another such NBC pilot is one with Casey Wilson is starring in it, which we think is a solid move on their part.

Also, Adult Swim will now be in the heart of primetime and this makes us really excited for what they’re coming up with to play against network TV at 8PM, hopefully something weird, hilarious, and overall awesome like they have been doing.

On Leno’s Final Night of Tonight Show, Kimmel, Conan, Letterman, The Daily Show Go Big

Tonight, Feb. 3rd, 2014 will be the final night of Jay Leno’s Tonight Show after well over a score of years. Of course, it’ll be a big celebration at The Tonight Show with Billy Crystal as the guest.

However, Jimmy Kimmel with cast of Monuments Men including Matt Damon and Bill Murray, Conan with the entire cast of The Walking Dead, David Letterman with Michael Keaton/The Flaming Lips w/Sean Lennon, and The Daily Show with NYC Mayor Bill De Blasio are making the 11PM hour fierce.

We wouldn’t be surprised if everyone has a joke about a Leno leaving in their monologue tonight as well.
