Prankster comedian extraordinaire Brendon Walsh is getting back in touch with his prankster roots with a new monthly show that will feature both stand-up as well as Brendon prank calling people live (quite a feat to do these days if you can pull it off).

Called Afternoon Delight, you’ll get to enjoy such hijinks at 4PM on a Sunday at Silverlake’s The Friend, all for FREE. This first Afternoon Delight on this Sunday should be a damn good time with Johnny Pemberton, Richard Bain, Jamar Neighbors, and Lindsay Adams.

When it comes to the prospect of sharing home movies/student films that you made in high school or college, most people laugh it off because they never want to share such premature work (even if they went on to become very accomplished in some sort creative field).

One comedian, Chase Bernstein, made such a film, Scream 3, for her bat mizvah with her dad, Barry Bernstein directing, and has the bravery to revisit this film with an exclusive Q&A that’ll include the cast, Chase’s brothers and sisters.

Chase’s combination of subtlety and unapologetic silliness as a stand-up comedian should make this an unforgettable night. Please go get tickets here.

So, they wrote a short film together that Feinartz directed, The Lot, and they’re having an exclusive screening of it (along with a bangin’ stand-up show) next week that you absolutely shouldn’t miss.

Best of all, it’s FREE to attend.

Whether Babs Gray is killing it in the world of podcasts (Lady to Lady and Britney’s Gram) or being a long standing staple in the LA comedy scene or bringing her silliness to the masses across the country, Babs has been a favorite of ours for years.

Thus, we would highly urge you to go check her out doing her own show Babs Gray Does: Babs Do It at the Lyric Hyperion (even if she’s playing coy with exactly what’s going to happen in said show). Go get tickets for Babs Gray Does: Babs Do It, which Babs says are “$4.20 and 80 cents” here.

dicker troy, johnny pemberton, josh fadem

Josh Fadem and Johnny Pemberton have collaborated for some of the most daring, silly, and wonderful comedy for many years over now. From being tied to each other by a rope and trying to perform at the same time to Johnny donning his now cult favorite Dicker Troy character, Josh and Johnny’s shows are always worth showing up for (even if you’re not quite sure what’s going to happen).

Thus, Josh and Dicker Break Bread, a “staged theatre production” (spun off from their monthly showcase where Josh and Dicker host many stand-ups and comedy folks while they do whatever magical riffing they do) is yet another thing where we’re not exactly sure what the duo have up their collective sleeves, but are fully on board for whatever comedic head trip that they’re going to take us on.

It’s set for this Labor Day weekend at Silverlake’s Satellite LA and you ought to get your tickets here.

Thankfully, a chance to catch them together again will be happening this week in a special performance at the intimate space of the Tom of Finland Foundation (a lovely house in Echo Park). The always lovely Beth Stelling will be joining them as well, which just might end up being the stand out night of this “Summer Acoustic Series”.

Straw Men is, without a doubt, one of our new favorite shows of the year in how it puts many of the funniest people in LA to have the most absurd debates ever using the dumbest arguments and childish tactics possible.

While name-calling, the title-inspiring “straw man”, tangential insults, etc. are not at all productive in real debates between politicians that steer the course of policy at any level, it’s pretty damn fun to watch comedians do it in a theater.

So, go get your tickets for the next Straw Men, happening next week!

Every so often, El Segundo’s treasure of a revival theater, the Old Town Music Hall, will do a run of classic cartoons with their occasional Vintage Cartoon Festival.

This particular edition is fascinating as it’ll feature Pre-Code (an era of film that got away with being more graphic and explicit because the big Hollywood studios had not really enforced any sort of obscenity code yet) cartoons. All of these cartoons definitely came well before the adult animation of BoJack Horseman or F Is For Family or Rick and Morty and it ought to be fascinating to think the connection between those Pre-Code cartoons and our aforementioned modern ones.

Also, renowned cartoon historian Jerry Beck will be hosting the entire evening.

This Vintage Cartoon Festival will happen:
Aug. 16th, Friday 8:15PM
Aug. 17th, Saturday 2:30PM & 8:15PM
