Nato Green Calmly and Hilariously Breaks Down Issues in Trump Era with “The Whiteness Album”
While late night is certainly flooded with satirical commentary on the Trump Administration, very few individual comedians have yet spent a majority of their recordings, whether they be specials or albums, talking about Trump, his policies, and what life is like surrounding it all. You certainly can chalk that up to fatigue from the absurd, concussive, and non-stop nature of his presidency.
However, Nato Green, an always staunchly political comedian, doesn’t shy away from craftily joking about POTUS and several other hot button issues like race, gentrification, immigration, etc. Green, in his latest album The Whiteness Album, combines impeccable writing, a calm demeanor and delivery, and a personal take on all these seemingly overwhelming issues that offers up jokes that don’t feed into that aforementioned Trump fatigue.

Fred Armisen Is Doing a Netflix Comedy Special “Standup for Drummers”
Fred Armisen is taking his many comedic skills in putting them all in one comedy special, Standup for Drummers. That includes impressions, drumming, a generally asymmetrical approach to humor, regional impressions, very niche impressions that have nothing to do with regions, and repetition for comedic effect.

Though once thought to be possibly far and gone, the legendary comedy variety extravaganza Tomorrow! Show with Ron Lynch is coming back and coming back soon!
The Steve Allen Theater is sadly no more, but Ron and company will be enjoying burning the midnight oil with chaotic glee at a new home in LA’s newest comedy venue The Hayworth Theater.
Unsurprisingly, the line-up is full of Tomorrow! favorites and ought to not be missed.

Todd Glass and The Todd Glass Band Give the Full Todd Glass Experience on “Act Happy”
Todd Glass’ full hour special released this week is the summation of the joyful anarchy that Todd has been dealing in over the last few years. Armed with a full house band (that also is cued in on his bits and commentary on bits and accompanying course corrections on bits), Glass takes you down the rabbit hole of his comedy, which is rambunctiously fun as well as subtly illuminating about the times we live in and how comedy dissects said times.

A 15 minute comedy special is definitely experimental in the sense that it’s longer than a late night set or even a set on one of Comedy Central’s stand-up showcase series, but it’s shorter than a half hour special. Since Netflix has been shelling out the big bucks for the big names as of the last couple years, we guess this is their way to stay connected to comedians still working their way to being a household name (and probably someone whom would have gotten an hour special from the Netflix of years past)
With that being said, we’re glad to see the line-up features plenty of folks that we’ve got to enjoy over the years and deserve the platform of Netflix to have their comedy be seen and heard including:

Get Geoff Tate’s Fourth Album “People Are What People Make ‘Em”
Quietly over the last five years, Geoff Tate has been building a catalog of comedy albums that we very much enjoy.
Tate has always had a great knack for coloring the vignettes of his life with subtle details that really make his laidback sensibilities land comedically. For example, this particular round features an almost epic journey of trying to make new friends via shared appreciation of the Jack Reacher franchise. It might possibly the funniest bit involving Jack Reacher in the current canon of stand-up comedy.
So, with that in mind, pick up a copy of People Are What People Make ’Em to see how that whole story plays out and to also listen to another solid hour from Tate.
You’d be hard pressed to find a more charming patio to watch a comedy show in than the one where Wolf Den happens.
Also, the line-up, per usual, is pretty damn solid, so set plans for next Wednesday already.

Jamie Lee has been, in our opinion, prime to release an album quite for some time. So, with that in mind, you’re getting a great collection of Jamie’s best over the last several years, which are seamlessly stitched together on “I Mean…”.
Jamie has a great eye and ear for detail in her life for her comedy and also has a deft talent for wordplay and metaphor that are quite enjoyable. Also, Jamie will occasionally flaunt a sort-of syncopated timing on some of our favorite jokes from her that highlight how great Jamie is at crafting her brand of humor.

Gary Vider Sweetly Kicks Off Late Night Stand-Up in 2018 with His Set on Colbert
The first late night stand-up set is in the books with a charming performance from Gary Vider on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
If you’re a fan of Dan Mintz’s stand-up and not yet a fan of Gary, you might just be a fan of both after watching this set.
