TCB Debriefing 11/1/23: After Midnight, John Wilson, Jenny Zigrino, Mike Birbiglia, HBO Fake Twitter Accounts,

November 1, 2023
News
after midnight, fake twitter accounts, hbo, jenny zigrino, jimmy kimmel live, jo firestone, john wilson, mike birbiglia, netflix, old man and the pool, taylor tomlinson

1. The newly minted version of @midnight, which will be called After Midnight, will be hosted by Taylor Tomlinson and have Jo Firestone as the head writer and Jack Martin from the actual @midnight as showrunner (THR). Aside from the Jimmys, Stephen, Seth, and John, After Midnight will be the representation for diversity in late night whenever SNL is not on the air (or if/when The Daily Show picks a replacement, presuming they don’t go with an old white guy).

2. Like his HBO series How To with John Wilson, John Wilson is pure human magic on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

3. Jenny Zigrino is a stand-up comedy force to be reckoned with. Go reckon with her on her winter tour all over the U.S. Get tix now at jennyzigrino.com/live.

4. If you didn’t have the coin to catch Mike Birbiglia on Broadway (because you probably never had the coin to catch anything on Broadway), fret not. His latest Broadway show, The Old Man & The Pool, is coming out in Netflix special form on Nov. 21st and you can take your first look at it here.

5. Oh, HBO. How the mighty have fallen and resorted to spam Twitter accounts to troll reviewers (THR). The question now is whether Showtime, Hulu, Roku, or someone else will do a slapdash drama about this revelation.

6. We’ll leave you with this: Anyone looking to open up a bar, please do it right next door to any and all comedy venues, for the love of whatever you believe in.

Pick of the Day: A CHRISTMAS CAROLE KING: A Hastily Written Musical Starring the Audience! (in NYC) 12/18

December 9, 2022
News
aaron jackson, brooklyn, jo firestone, josh sharp, littlefield, live comedy, musical comedy, nyc comedy

What would holiday music be without caroling or people just singing in unison in general? Arguably, it would be, perhaps, just annoying (shout out to everyone playing non-stop holiday music for all of December)?

With that in mind, Jo Firestone, Aaron Jackson, and Josh Sharp are upping the ante here with making a Christmas version of their “Hastily Written Musical Starring the Audience” entitled “A Christmas Carole King“. Indeed, you the audience will be the center of this yuletide tinged round of chaos that will probably be more fun than every holiday party you go to this year.

Get in on A CHRISTMAS CAROLE KING: A Hastily Written Musical Starring the Audience! set for Sun. Dec. 8th at 8PM at Littlefield in Brooklyn. Tickets are $12.47 a pop and you can (and very much should) get them here.

Pick of the Day: Uptown Showdown-Cats vs. Dogs (in NYC w/Livestream) 10/11

October 7, 2022
News
alison leiby, jaye mcbride, jo firestone, kenice mobley, monroe martin, nyc comedy, panel debate, peter grosz

The debate of whether cats or dogs are the best furry companion to have in life will be a never ending debate that largely depends on your personality. Still, hearing NYC very best comedians debate the topic ought to be great fun (though it does feel like there’s a slight majority of cat people amongst comedians).

Uptown Showdown at Symphony Space is indeed inviting the much heralded comedic minds of Jo Firestone, Peter Grosz, Alison Leiby, Monroe Martin III, Jaye McBride, and Kenice Mobley to fiercely debate this very divide between the top of the domesticated animal pyramid with Matthew Love hosting. That’s quite the line-up that would take an argument that would probably be pretty entertaining to an entirely other level that you will make it worth the trip to the Upper West Side.

This edition of Uptown Showdown is set for Tues. Oct. 11th at 7PM ET/4PM ET and will be available for livestream as well. Tickets are going for $16 and you really ought to go get them here right now.

Pick of the Day: Morality with Jo Firestone (in NYC) 9/24

September 9, 2022
News
brooklyn, jo firestone, ny comedy, stand up comedy

Throughout the last few years, you’ve seen Jo Firestone branch into a truly brilliant comedy multi-hyphenate. From being perfectly cast in Joe Pera Talks With You to stoking the fires at Ziwe to teaching old folks stand-up comedy in what might be the most adorable comedy special of all time, Good Timing, Jo has been quite busy with so many great things.

That said, getting to see Jo take the stage for a whole night of just herself hasn’t happened in a minute and one ought to know from listening to her album The Hits that Jo headlining is funny on a transformative level.

So, with all of that in mind, do not miss Jo headline The Bell House in Brooklyn this month, Sat. Sept. 24th at 7PM. Tickets for what will be called Morality with Jo Firestone are $15 and you better go snag them here right now.

News
aparna nancherla, butterboy, jo firestone, maeve higgins

If you’re a New Yorker, you might have noticed that Mondays might have been a little different in regards to the comedy scene. Butterboy @ Littlefield, one of the pillars of NYC comedy, took a quiet look break this Summer.

Don’t worry however as hosts Jo, Aparna, and Maeve will be returning to their regularly scheduled programming starting very soon, specifically Sept. 5th (only a few weeks away). Make sure you’re in Gowanus, Brooklyn on that Monday and pretty much every Monday going forward if you want to see one of the best weekly shows throughout all five boroughs.

As always, you can get line-ups and $10 tickets for Butterboy at butterboycomedy.com.

Oh, if you’re in Las Vegas next month, you can catch a very special edition of Butterboy at Life Is Beautiful fest, running from Sept. 16th-18th.

Pick of the Day: In Stitches: A Comedy Fundraiser for The Brooklyn Free Clinic (in NYC) 5/21

If you’ve read the news in any of the time that, frankly, you’ve been alive, you probably felt lost, beset with how much hurt and violence there is in the world. Just this past weekend, there was so much gun violence across the country that it’s hard to parse how many people got shot up where in America and when exactly that happened.

That said, there are still good folks in the world putting care and concern out for other people. Some of the people work at the Brooklyn Free Clinic, a student run free clinic that boosts health care access through the borough via “service and education” by way of SUNY Downstate Medical Center.

In Stitches is a big time fundraiser to be held at Brooklyn’s venerable comedy venue, The Bell House, on Sat. May 21st at 2:30PM ET (w/ 1:30PM ET cocktail hour/silent auction) that seeks to support their truly selfless efforts and the good roots they plant in and throughout their borough. NYC comedy finest in Mary Beth Barone, Brittany Carney, Rachel Coster, Jes Tom, Ike Ufomadu, Garrett Williams, Jo Firestone & Aparna Nancherla, and host Jared Waters will be assemble for this edition of In Stitches.

Admission for In Stitches starts at $15 for students, $20 for GA, then goes up from there if you want to support the Brooklyn Free Clinic even more (and gets some great swag while you’re at it).

Pick of the Day: Boom Clap Let’s Ride (in NYC) 4/12

March 31, 2022
News
aaron jackson, charli xcx, jo firestone, josh sharp, musical comedy, nyc comedy

When it comes to (somewhat) controlled chaos, almost nothing comedically thrives as much as projects with Jo Firestone involved.

The concept of “hastily written jukebox musical for Charli XCX starring the audience” might be a little too daring for most to dream up, attempt, or pull off, but celebrated NYC comedy staples Jo Firestone, Aaron Jackson, and Josh Sharp will be doing exactly that sort of marvelous interactive pop-driven comedy mayhem next month at Littlefield. If this has any of the rambunctious joy of Jo’s Good Timing special, this will be more than worth your hard earned money and free time.

We don’t have much idea of what Boom Clap, Let’s Ride will entail, but that’s part of what should be the hysterical thrill of the whole experience and, if you’re in the NYC area, you should absolutely make this your evening for Tues. Apr. 12th at 8PM ET.

Tickets are $10 and you can and should go get ’em here.

As we are thankfully starting to see, there are new folks stepping up and filling in where others in comedy had to close up shop due to the pandemic. Rubbish Comedy is the latest collective to get born out of this time and it sure seems like they’ve got some fun things up their sleeves, whether they’re actually rubbish or not.

Currently operating out of Dixon Place in NYC, Rubbish’s latest happening, Darling Tallie, will be a triple threat of a comedy show, dance party, and dance contest. Cocoon Central Dance Team’s Tallie Medez will be hosting/presiding over this comedy dance mash-up evening with an amazing NYC line-up of Aparna Nancherla, Seaton Smith, Jo Firestone, Dave Hill, and dance sensation Angela Trimbur.

Darling Tallie is set for Wed. Mar. 23rd at 7:30PM ET at Dixon Place. Tickets are only $18 right now and you really ought to get on snagging those ASAP (and dusting off your dancing shoes).

Pick of the Day: (The Return of Both) Butterboy 2/7 (in NYC) & Good Heroin (in LA) 2/

News

The Omicron edition of COVID-19 really threw a wrench at 100 mph into everything all of us had going in 2021 to really ruin the start of 2022. Nearly every live comedy show that was already back or had planned to be back in that time took another break out of an abundance of caution.

Thankfully, case numbers and hospitalizations have trended down enough that, fingers crossed, things are coming back and that includes some of the best weekly comedy shows that we rely on for our weekly evening shot of community oriented dopamine. Namely, Butterboy with Aparna Nancherla, Maeve Higgins, and Jo Firestone @ Littlefield in Brooklyn, NYC and Good Heroin @ Stories in Echo Park, LA are returning next week and we can only hope that this return sticks.

Specifically Butterboy is posting up back at Littlefield for your favorite Monday night of comedy in NYC at 8PM ET on Feb. 7th and Good Heroin is taking over the back patio at Stories on Feb. 14th at 8PM PT.

You can get your $10 advance tickets for Butterboy here and have some spare bucks to donate for Good Heroin (or enjoy the show for FREE if inflation is getting the best of you).

Pick of the Day: Butterboy 4 Year Anniversary (in NYC) 11/15

November 4, 2021
News
aparna nancherla, jo firestone, littlefield, maeve higgins, ny comedy

The Monday night 8PM slot at Littlefield in Brooklyn has been a historic one and stewarding it is to be an beloved anchor for the NYC comedy scene. Eons ago, seemingly, it was Hot Tub with Kurt and Kristen on Mondays at Littlefield, then it was Night Train with Wyatt Cenac, and, for the last four years, it has been Aparna Nancherla, Jo Firestone, and Maeve Higgins as the smashing trio behind Butterboy.

The NY Comedy Festival is indeed next week and that edition of Butterboy will be part of the festival, but the week after, on Mon. Nov. 15th, Aparna, Jo, Maeve, and their DJ Donwill are going to mark the fourth year of doing Butterboy and making sure NYC comedy has the perfect panacea for any sort case of the Mondays.

Already, they’ve got Joe Pera, fresh off the season premiere of Joe Pera Talks With You, Joyelle Nicole Johnson, fresh from her on The Tonight Show, and Lili Michelle, who just finished her run of one of the best and longest running outdoor shows throughout the pandemic, Peaches & Cream. Undoubtedly, there will be some great surprises TBA.

So, you ought to snag your tickets quick for this one. Yes, they are still $10 right now.

Whether you feel the pandemic is over or not, it’s undeniable that this past year and a half has shown the reach one could have by broadcasting a live performance onto the interwebs.

That’s probably part of why the Adult Swim Festival is doing another virtual edition that will feature the same sort of treasured collection of performers it would have in person, but from the convenience of YouTube (and HBO Max). Just over a month from now, you can, for free, tune into “never-before-seen” live performances form the likes of such Adult Swim comedy darlings as Jo Firestone, Joe Pera, Rick & Morty, Negin Farsad, Squidbillies, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force. We have no doubt they’ll add more to the line-up as Thurs. Nov. 11th & Fri. Nov. 12th comes closer.

With that in mind, set a reminder to tune into this year’s virtual Adult Swim Festival and all its weird and wondrous virtual glory here.

Watch Jo Firestone Teach Stand-Up to Old Folks in “Good Timing”

September 27, 2021
News
comedy class, comedy special, jo firestone, peacock

If there’s someone who is always up for a comedy challenge, it’s the one and only, endlessly delightful Jo Firestone. Firestone has a knack for making comedy gold out of custom designing a metaphorical obstacle course for her to engage with.

This latest endeavor puts Jo in the role of teaching the art of stand-up comedy to senior citizens. That’s just charming to think of, isn’t it? Her course and subsequent graduation showcase is all captured in the upcoming Peacock Original’s Good Timing with Jo Firestone. Somehow, this kind of feels like something that Jo would have dreamed up for Chris Gethard on The Chris Gethard Show, but now is putting her own lovely spin on it with her at the center.

Get a taste of what’s to come with Jo and her old folks stand-up comedy revue with the Good Timing trailer here, then look for it to stream on Peacock beginning Fri. Oct. 15th.

Here’s the First Full Trailer for Teenage Euthanasia, the New Adult Swim Comedy Set in a Mortuary

News
adult swim, bebe neuwirth, jo firestone, maria bamford, teenage euthanasia, tim robinson, trailer

Given how out there and dark Adult Swim has gotten with their series, both animated and live action, one might be surprised that they haven’t done a comedy that’s set in a funeral home until now. Teenage Euthansia, from creators Alissa Nutting and Alyson Levy, will indeed be that very series that not only takes a coming-of-age, family sitcom into a mortuary, but really take it several steps more absurd with having the mother of family coming back to life to make up for being a mom who ran out on her family, though undead on this go around.

Also, the cast is truly top notch with the voices of Maria Bamford, Jo Firestone, Tim Robinson, and Bebe Neuwirth. It really seems like it has all the makings of a great dark family comedy. See what exactly that would look and sound like with this first official trailer for Teenage Euthanasia here.

If this is your jam, then look for Teenage Euthanasia to premiere on Adult Swim on Sun. Aug. 19th at midnight.

Pick of the Day: Return of Butterboy (in NY)

One of NYC’s marquee weekly stand-up shows was Butterboy. Even during lockdown, they did a virtual show every Monday that kept so many of us from going stir crazy and was a very appreciated blessing (as well as a great reminder that it was indeed Monday during quarantine).

Now, Aparna Nancherla, Jo Firestone, and Donwill are all set to return to their normal, weekly in-person regimen back home at Littlefield in Brooklyn on Mondays at 8PM ET starting Mon., July 5th (for fully vaccinated audiences). The line-ups will be great, the tickets are reasonable ($10 in adv., $12 day of), and there will be live-streaming for those not lucky enough to be in NYC for only $5.

It’s a wild round-up of comedians from every corner of comedy, though it definitely leans in to comedy’s more chaotic, alternative edges.

They’re currently doing recurring shows in both NY and LA, outdoors and indoors, for fully vaccinated audiences. They’ve got a backyard show lined-up for Jun. 15th in NYC as well two indoors shows, Jun. 17th @ Asylum NYC and Jun. 23rd @ Union Hall.

Pick of the Day: Naomi Ekperigin Works It Out 4/28

April 13, 2021
News
aparna nancherla, dynasty typewriter, jo firestone, naomi ekperigin, stand up comedy

Naomi Ekperigin, for our money, is still one of the most magnetic, dynamic, engaging, and thoroughly hilarious comedians to watch on stage and is someone we can’t wait to see live, regardless of the stage being virtual on in-person. Look her up on Comedy Central, on 2 Dope Queens, and on Mythic Quest.

She has stayed connected to us all comedically through her lovely live-stream and podcast, Couples Therapy, with her JewBoo, Andy Beckerman, but she has some time coming up to actually do some classic stand-up and work out some brand new material. Ekperigin’s presence and succinctly pinpointing the absurdities in minutia are, frankly, timeless.

She’ll be live-streaming this very special night of Naomi Ekperigin Works It Out via Dynasty Typewriter and will have a stellar pair of friends/contemporaries, Aparna Nancherla and Jo Firestone, joining her.

Don’t miss out on Ekperigin’s night on Wed. Apr. 28th at 6PM PT/9PM ET and get your tickets, starting at $10, here.

Pick of the Day: Daniel Lee Livestream Comedy Fundraiser Extravaganza 1/23

January 20, 2021
News
Ayo Edebiri, Camirin Farmer, dj douggpound, fat tony, Grace Kuhlenschmidt, jak knight, jo firestone, larry owens, nori reed, yassir lester

Well, it’s officially official in a way that can’t be more official. Trump is no longer POTUS and Joe Biden has been sworn in as the 46th President of the United States. Still, that doesn’t mean everything is solved. If anything, we’ve got a long, long way to go before problems at the federal, state, and local level are taken care of.

That’s why Sarah Squirm is co-hosting yet another grand live-stream comedy fundraiser, this time for progressive candidate Daniel Lee’s campaign for California State Senate. Per usual, Squirm has assembled a fiery line-up of folks we love watching and dearly miss seeing on stage. That includes: co-host Ayo Edibiri, Yassir Lester, Jo Firestone, Nori Reed, DJ Douggpound, Jak Knight, Camirin Farmer, Larry Owens, and Grace Kuhlenschmidt as well as musical guest Fat Tony.

Access to the live-stream this weekend is via paying what you can, leaving little excuse to not catch this live-stream. The Daniel Lee Livestream Comedy Fundraiser is set to stream on Sat. Jan. 23rd at 7PM PT/10PM ET. Get more details, donate, etc. here.

SF Sketchfest Announces Virtual “Festpocalypse” Fundraiser This Coming January

OK, so there won’t be an in-person SF Sketchfest come this January. You already knew that, right?
Just because that’s the case, doesn’t mean that SF Sketchfest, one of the world’s biggest comedy festivals, won’t forego doing anything. In fact, they’ve got something pretty big on deck, virtually of course, called Festpocalypse. It will be a special, massive one night only  event that will raise money to keep SF Sketchfest alive and well and going after all of the COVID-19 pandemic is finished.
How massive is it? Well, take a gander at who they have slated for Festpocalypse:
The Kids in the Hall, The State, Mr. Show’s David Cross & Bob Odenkirk, The Upright Citizens Brigade, Parv & Pudi with Parvesh Cheena and Danny Pudi, plus “Saturday Night Live” alumni Fred Armisen, Dana Carvey, Rachel Dratch, Janeane Garofalo, Tim Meadows, Laraine Newman, Sasheer Zamata and original writer Alan Zweibel. Sketch troupes Kasper Hauser, The Latino Comedy Project, White Women and Australia’s Netflix sensations Aunty Donna appear as well.
Festpocalypse also features top stand-up comics and writers including Brits Eddie Izzard and Noel Fielding, plus Margaret Cho, Jo Firestone, Ron Funches, Chris Gethard, Dave Hill, Joel Kim Booster, Bobcat Goldthwait, Emily V. Gordon, Dana Gould, Eugene Mirman, Arden Myrin, Aparna Nancherla, Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, Kevin Pollak, Greg Proops, Jonah Ray, Paul F. Tompkins, Reggie Watts and more. Also, live short film riffing with RiffTrax featuring “Mystery Science Theater 3000” alumni, fake Uptown Showdown debates, a visit with Triumph the Insult Comic Dog and “Weird Al” Yankovic, a game show hosted by Jimmy Pardo, movie games hosted by Doug Benson, swift justice from Judge John Hodgman and Bailiff Jesse Thorn, and a rare reunion of The Slipnutz members Andy Blitz, Jon Glaser and Brian Stack.
Film and television stars slated for appearances include Alan Arkin, Paget Brewster, Chris Elliott, Elliott Gould, Christopher Guest, Jon Hamm, John Michael Higgins, Michael Hitchcock, Bill Irwin, Jane Lynch, Oscar Nuñez, Andrea Savage, and Aisha Tyler, as well as The Tenderloins, creators of the hit show “Impractical Jokers.” Cult cinema aficionado and drag superstar Peaches Christ will take a look back at the festival’s past film celebrations.
The show also features improv by Groundlings alumni The Black Version, the esteemed Improvised Shakespeare Company and festival regulars Theme Park. Musical performances will include Bill Frisell, Jean Grae, Rhett Miller, The Milk Carton Kids, Eliza Skinner, Epic Lloyd, Jonathan Coulton, Paul and Storm, and John Roderick.

How will they fit that much show into one night? We’re not really sure, but you best clear out Sat. Jan. 30th so you can watch, enjoy, and support SF Sketchfest via Festpocalypse starting at 5PM PT/8PM ET so you can pack in all of what’s listed above (i.e. all the live comedy you could possibly want from SF Sketchfest from the comfort of your own quarantine).

Tickets start at $20, which is pretty swell price. If you can’t make it on Jan. 30th, you’ll be able to watch it through Feb. 1st. Go get your tickets at sfsketchfest.com right now.

We told you that there would be plenty of big time comedy benefit shows for the Georgia Runoffs and, lordy lordy, there sure are. This latest one is being put up by the one and only Padma Lakshmi that’s very explicit in this regard by being called, “Padma Puts on a Virtual Comedy Show for the Georgia Runoff Elections: An Evening to Benefit FairFight”.

Stacey Abrams’ FairFight was instrumental in registering voters and contributing to Biden’s 2020 Election win and will undoubtedly be crucial in the upcoming special Georgia Senate Runoffs.

So, they tapped Padma for a live benefit show and she, in turn, got one hell of a line-up that includes:

Hasan Minhaj, Phoebe Robinson, Sarah Silverman, Chelsea Peretti, Kumail Nanjiani, Emily V. Gordon, Benito Skinner, Mike Birbiglia, John Early, Roy Wood Jr., Julio Torres, Michelle Buteau, Patton Oswalt, Aparna Nancherla, Caleb Hearon, Wanda Sykes, Joel Kim Booster, Tituss Burgess, Meg Stalter, Patti Harrison, Nikki Glaser, Ayo Edebiri, Jo Firestone, Amber Ruffin, Dulce Sloan, Naomi Ekperigin, W. Lastly, the evening’s virtual festivities will be hosted by none other than the Las Culturistas themselves, Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang.

Reads like a festival line-up, doesn’t it? Well, we still can’t do that in person right now, but you can enjoy this gigantic Padma Puts on a Virtual Comedy Show comedy live-stream on Thurs. Dec. 17th at 6PM PT/9PM ET at youtube.com/padmalakshmi and donate to FairFight here.

Jo Firestone Subjects Herself to a Very Risky Game of Her Own Design “Rate the Cookie”

December 14, 2020
News
adult swim, jo firestone, rate the cookie

Part of the comedic brilliance of Jo Firestone is her penchant for putting herself in situations that demand the utmost vulnerability and then delivering just that.

So, for her latest work, Firestone puts herself at the whim of strangers in a “game show” where, after chatting and rating the taste of cookies, they have the option of being Jo’s friend or getting paid $50 cash right then and there. It’s a risky proposition, for Jo that is, and it makes for some those moments that are so human that you can’t help but laugh (and definitely can’t make up).

Please enjoy Jo Firestone’s quest for friendship with Rate The Cookie here

Pick of the Day: Torture Ben Wasserman 12/15

News
Ben Wasserman, brian bahe, brooklyn eviction defense, eviction defense, jo firestone, julia shiplett, Kyle Harris, Marcia Belsky, Milly Tamarez

Defending against evictions right now during this historic pandemic is so crucial that comedian Ben Wasserman is seemingly up for anything to raise money for Brooklyn Eviction Defense. In fact, he’s so down for the cause that he’s putting on a show called Torture Ben Wasserman wherein very special guests (including NYC favorites Jo Firestone, Marcia Belsky, Julia Shiplett, Milly Tamarez, Kyle Harris, and Brian Bahe) will subject him to challenges that seem to be at their whim while he’s doing the simple, yet infamous “cinnamon challenge”.

The exhibition of Ben’s suffering for comedy’s sake will hopefully prevent potential suffering of those at risk of eviction at this time.

Torture Ben Wasserman is set for Tues. Dec. 15th at 5:30PM PT/8:30PM ET. Donations will be accepted ($5-$10 is suggested). FYI, “for every $25 raised, Ben will up the ante all for your sick and twisted pleasure.”

“Teenage Euthanasia” Will Be Adult Swim’s Latest Series, Set for 2021 Premiere

December 3, 2020
News
adult animation, adult swim, alissa nutting, bebe neuwirth, jo firestone, maria bamford, teenage euthanasia, tim robinson

With Adult Swim’s reputation of unabashedly trippy, absurd, dark, edgy shows, especially when it comes to comedy (i.e. Mr. Pickles, The Heart, She Holler), it’s honestly surprising that they haven’t had a series set in a funeral home.

That’s all changing with Alissa Nutting and Alyson Levy’s Teenage Euthanasia, which is an animated family sitcom centered on a mother that had ran away from the family business, the Tender Endings Funeral Home, but has finally come home (though as a recently reanimated corpse). Somehow, that seems ridiculously morbid enough for the times that we’re living in. You might have your curiosity peaked even further by the cast including the voices of Maria Bamford, Jo Firestone, Tim Robinson, and Bebe Neuwirth.

Already, we’re conjuring an image of Six Feet Under run through the Adult Swim grinder and set in Florida for this series, which sounds pretty swell to us. We’ll have to wait and truly see when it premieres in 2021. Hopefully, by the premiere date, we can only hope that the show will be darker than real life.

That’s what Christi-mas Spectacular will be on Thurs. Dec. 17th at 5PM PT/8PM ET. The evening of virtual comedy will definitely be a welcome alternative to celebrating the holiday season if you’re not into hearing Christmas standards playing everywhere and just looking at Christmas lights.

If you’re looking for something way in the future to look forward as a way to potentially have something to get you through the end of the year all the way into 2021 when maybe, possibly, hopefully there will be a vaccine that we all can get for COVID-19, there will be a magnificent collection of essays, poetry, toons, short stories, art, and so much more for well over 100 of the best women in comedy (from all corners including stand-up, writing, sketch, acting, podcasting, musical comedy, and more) in Notes from the Bathroom Line: Humor, Art, and Low-grade Panic from 150 of the Funniest Women in Comedy.

Amy Solomon (producer on Silicon Valley, Barry) curated the incredibly impressive literary gathering for this book and we really can’t wait for Mar. 16th, 2021 when Notes from the Bathroom Line is set for release.

Thus far, slated to contribute are:

Lolly Adefope, Maria Bamford, Aisling Bea, Lake Bell, Rachel Bloom, Rhea Butcher, Nicole Byer, D’Arcy Carden, Aya Cash, Karen Chee, Margaret Cho, Mary H.K. Choi, Amanda Crew, Rachel Dratch, Beanie Feldstein, Jo Firestone, Briga Heelan, Samantha Irby, Emily V. Gordon, Patti Harrison, Mary Holland, Jen Kirkman, Lauren Lapkus, Riki Lindhome, Kate Micucci, Natalie Morales, Aparna Nancherla, Yvonne Orji, Lennon Parham, Chelsea Peretti, Alexandra Petri, Natasha Rothwell, Amber Ruffin, Andrea Savage, Kristen Schaal, Megan Stalter, Beth Stelling, Cecily Strong, Sunita Mani, Geraldine Viswanathan, Michaela Watkins, Mo Welch, and Sasheer Zamata.

More contributors will be added down the line for a book that’s so much more promising than a lot of what 2020 has given us.

By the way, you can pre-order Notes from the Bathroom Line here.
