Pick of the Day: Jack Tucker: Comedy Standup Hour (in NYC) 2/29-3/30

January 12, 2024
News
jack tucker, nyc comedy, parody, soho playhouse, solo show, stand up comedy, zach zucker

If you’re a loyal reader of what’s written here at TCB, you’ve probably seen us badger you about watching Stamptown, the wildest transcontinental comedy variety show in existence. Led by Jack Tucker, the rambunctious stand-up-comedy-uncanny-valley alter-ego of Zach Zucker, Stamptown somehow always pushes its own boundaries, joyfully going off the rails with the best clown, sketch comedy, stand-up, dance, music, etc. etc.

Now, Zuck—we mean Tucker has his very own solo endeavor getting a nice big run at The Soho Playhouse where he’ll get truly run amok with beautiful comedic chaos (as well as what must be the most sound cues of any comedy show of all time). Jack Tucker: Comedy Standup Hour will be running from the very end of February on the 29th through Mar. 30th, Wed.-Sat. (except for the 3/6 & 3/9). Tickets are $46.50 and you best go get them here.

The Comedy Bureau Field Report Ep. 183: Zach Zucker & Stamptown Stamping Everywhere

September 27, 2023
News, The Comedy Bureau Field Report

Zach Zucker has taken his creation Stamptown and its ringleader Jack Tucker to the height of international comedy stardom with having it being a rollicking circus of all types of comedy and wild performance in LA, NYC, and London (and elsewhere too). For our money, Zucker is one of the only folks in all of comedy to pull this off on a regular basis and his award winning antics are the proof to back up such a feat. This week’s TCB Field Report dives into the ins and outs of touring all around the globe doing some of the wildest comedy out there (and continuing to push the comedy envelope beyond that).

Pick of the Day: “That’s What He Said” w/ Natalie Palamides (in LA) 3/6-3/11

February 14, 2023
News
chad damiani, courtney pauroso, elysian, kimberly stuckwisch, los angeles comedy, natalie palamides, nate, zach zucker

Natalie Palamides put out one of the most groundbreaking comedy specials in recent memory with Nate. Her solo show as a “lovable douchebag” named Nate really broke barriers as to what an hour of comedy, especially a big time special on Netflix, could be. It was truly a must-see experience that mashed up comedy, performance art, and gender dynamics in a provoking, glorious, and unforgettable show.

So, with that in mind, you’re probably going to want to see Nate return to “tape a pilot episode” of a “multi-cam sitcom”, which is indeed happening at The Elysian next month. Already, we’re so intensely curious as to what sort of hysterical chaos is set to ensue, especially since plenty of beloved LA clowns are joining in on what is being called, “That’s What He Said”. That cast includes Paul Mabon, Zach Zucker, Courtney Pauroso, Chad Damiani, John Norris, and Kevin Krieger.

You’ll almost have an entire week to catch it as That’s What He Said will be running from Mon. Mar. 6th-Sat. Mar. 11th at 8PM at The Elysian. Tickets are only $25 and don’t be surprised if they sell out pretty soon. Go get ’em here.

Technically, Just For Laughs has already gone international with having festivals throughout Canada, the United States, and Mexico. That said, they have yet to expand outside of North America as one of the biggest live comedy brands in the world, but that’s all about to change in a few months with the arrival of JFL London.

The very first Just For Laughs London will take over London’s signature venue, The O2 Arena for four days from Thurs. Mar. 2nd-Sun. Mar. 5th. To make a splash on that side of the pond, JFL has already amassed a bunch of big names, many of them big to us Yanks, for their inaugural London festival.

Returning victoriously from Europe, Zach Zucker and Stamptown his traveling, rotating circus of clowns, stand-ups, characters, out there musical acts, and more is coming around to LA once more. The last time Stamptown was in town was six months ago back when Netflix Is a Joke Fest finally happened, which, honestly feels like two years ago at this point.

Per usual, Zucker has gone above and beyond to stack the line-up with the most daring and illuminating acts in town, which will include (so far for this 11/30 edition):

Mae Martin
Catherine Cohen
Natalie Palamides
Dylan Adler
Bonavega
Chad Damiani
Christina Catherine Martinez

It’s at the nice and big and raucous Bourbon Room in the heart of Hollywood on Hollywood Blvd. (perhaps one of the only reasons to go there?) and tickets are only $20 right now. Go get ’em while you still can here.

Pick of the Day: Stamptown (in NYC) 1/27 & 1/29

We’re not quite back at March 2020 in terms of live comedy being completely shut down, but there is a dreadful similarity to this week and the last couple, no?

To remedy that, let’s look further into the future for things that we were so glad that are back when lockdown lifted and will be thrilled to see once more (hopefully) in a few more weeks. Those include such things as one of comedy’s wildest shows, Stamptown. One of the only internationally traveling comedy showcases that rounds up clowns, sketch folks, stand-ups, musical comedians, and more genre defying comedic performers to do some of the wildest things anyone has seen on stage.

Currently, host/ringleader Zach Zucker/Jack Tucker is in the UK, but will be returning to NYC for two shows in January. Specifically, Stamptown will be at Union Hall on Thurs. Jan. 27th at 7:30PM ET & The Asylum NYC on Sat. Jan. 29th at 9:30PM ET. The line-ups aren’t announced yet, but you can rest assured that it will be jam packed with comedians you need to see as it has been for years.

Tickets are $20 a pop ($15 for Union Hall right now) and you can and should get them here and here respectively.

Pick of the Day: Fake Birthday with Caitlin Cook and A.J. Holmes (in LA) 11/14

One of NYC’s most fun variety shows is the comedy and music mash-up at Fake Birthday with Caitlin Cook and A.J. Holmes. Holmes is a Broadway dynamo and Cook has toured the globe with her über clever musical comedy (she did a whole solo musical comedy show based on bathroom graffiti). Together, they have been the duo at the core of Fake Birthday and with their musical comedy powers combined (and a stellar line-up of guests), they’ve made quite the spot for themselves in the thriving NYC comedy scene.

So, Cook and Holmes are stopping into LA for an exclusive show at Silverlake Lounge, which, if you’re in and around LA, you absolutely make your Silverlake to catch. They’ve gathered an exemplary LA line-up with Atsuko Okatsuka, Naomi Ekperigin, Zach Zucker, Langston Kerman, Liza Treyger, and Ethan Kuperberg all joining with their own grand comedy stylings in between original songs from Cook and Holmes.

This LA edition of Fake Birthday is set for Sun. Nov. 14th at Silverlake Lounge at 8PM PT. Tickets are $16.95 and you ought to go snag them right now (especially since it’ll be AJ Holmes’ actual birthday for this Fake Birthday).

Pick of the Day: Zach Zucker Residency-Work in Progress (in LA) 10/24-10/29

October 22, 2021
News
clowning, los angeles comedy, residency, solo show, yard theater, zach zucker

We sincerely hope that in the last several months, whether in LA or NYC (or even London) that you’ve got to catch the insanely fun comedy/clowning/character/music variety extravaganza that is Stamptown. If so, you’ve gotten to take in the masterful comedic verve of Zach Zucker (as the character Jack Tucker) and be taken on one hell of a ride.

Zucker also is so damn, amazingly funny as himself doing his own non-Jack Tucker bits and characters (as evidenced by touring the globe and winning awards at festivals everywhere and pretty much anyone who has seen him go up live). So, it stands to reason that you shouldn’t miss his next solo show, which, thankfully, has a residency here in LA at the Yard Theater in East Hollywood.

Zach will be doing a work-in-progress show over six nights starting this Sun. Oct 24th, going through Fri. Oct. 29th at tickets are only $5.

Here’s Zach’s specific date and times:

Sunday Oct 24th: 7pm
Monday Oct 25th: 9pm
Tuesday Oct 26th: 10pm
Wednesday Oct 27th: 10:30pm
Thursday Oct 28th: 10pm
Friday Oct 29th: 9pm

Again, you can get tickets for any of these dates here. Also, just saying, he’s playing our Double Anniversary show on 10/25 at 8PM too if you wanna catch him there.

Follow them @stamptown on IG for further updates on shows as they sell out pretty quick.

The beloved, award winning, internationally acclaimed clowning duo Zach & Viggo are back in LA and are doing a (somewhat) secret show with one of their favorite bands, the funk punk outfit known as Thumpasaurus.

On Wednesday, October 17th at 8:30PM, you should probably find yourself over at Artshare LA (801 E. 4th Pl., Los Angeles, CA) for one hell of a silly, out there, downright fun, groovy, dance filled night, Where Does The Love Go.

You can (and should) get tickets starting at $10 here.
