Emily Heller’s “Good For Her” Now on Pre-Order w/Horny For Heller T-Shirts

Emily Heller’s album Good For Her is another reason why this Friday is going to be a great day for comedy releases. Off of the same label, Kill Rock Stars, Ian Karmel and her are both releasing albums on that day just so you know.

Good For Her tours the mind of Emily Heller with all of its eccentricities structured very neatly into several bits that are both personal, yet also playful. A whole chunk on the multiple layers in which Frasier figures Emily’s life, both literally and metaphorically, is a pretty great example of that.

You can now pre-order Good For Her along with a T-shirt that has “Horny For Heller” printed on it for a Nov. 13th release. Also, if you’re one of the first 50 people to put an order for a CD, actual “googly eyes” will be glued on.

This album recording was supposed to happen almost a year ago, but due to some unforeseen circumstances, the recordings had to be pushed to this month on Monday Apr. 20th and Apr. 27th.

Still, we’re happy that an album capturing one of the best and longest running weekly comedy shows in the country, Hot Tub with Kurt & Kristen, is happening all the same.

Two tapings, presented by our good friends at CleftClips, will feature, of course, the amazing duo of Kurt Braunohler and Kristen Schaal as well as Kyle Kinane, Karen Kilgariff, Eugene Mirman, Heather Lawless, Aparna Nancherla, Eddie Pepitone, Emily Heller, Beth Stelling, Andrés du Bouchet, and John Roberts all at Hot Tub’s LA home, The Virgil.

Pretty swell, huh?

Kill Rock Stars just keeps adding to their already great comedy discography, which includes comedy albums from Hari Kondabolu, Cameron Esposito, and Kurt Braunohler.

Tickets will go on sale later this week. We’ll be sure to tell you exactly when that happens so you have a chance to not miss out on being part of Hot Tub history.

It truly was a spectacular night a week ago and we here at The Comedy Bureau thank all who attended as well as though who have kept us going throughout all these years and change. All of you make our efforts here worth it, despite not being any sort of “official” government agency with any government funding.

We also want to graciously thank Maria Bamford, Baron Vaughn, Candice Thompson, James Austin Johnson, Joe Wagner, Emily Heller, Drennon Davis, Karen Kilgariff, Brad Silnutzer, Avery Pearson, Christian Chavez, Echoes Under Sunset, Sarah Wood, and Mandee Johnson for all being part of or helping with the show.

The following is photographic evidence that this all happened.

Oh yeah, this guy, Jake Kroeger. He works here and likes hats.

To another 4 and 5/12th years and beyond where we relaunch the website (happening soon), expanding beyond LA (hopefully happening soon), etc. (perhaps happening at a point TBD). Any donations (there’s a donation button right above the embedded Comedy Crawl and Open Mic Run calendars) would definitely expedite any of these things happening.

Once more, thank you all for making this, whatever it is exactly we do, worth it.

Matt Ingebretson, who we feature a lot here, has put together an entire collection of short form pieces from some of the funniest people currently in and around Los Angeles for The Impolite: A Collection of Comedic Lit From LA.

Those people include such comedy folks as:

Megan Amram, Nathan Buckley, Eric Dadourian, Raj Desai, Emily Heller, Karen Kilgariff, Megan Koester, Yassir Lester, Aparna Nancherla, Eddie Pepitone, Sean Tejaratchi, Amber Tozer, David Venhuizen, Patrick Walsh, Jay Weingarten, Jake Weisman, Nick Wiger, and Allen Strickland Williams.

The book has everything from “…high-concept humor to idiotic poetry to a detailed factual account of how Cash Money Records caused a rift between a step-father and his son,” says Ingebretson.

So, with all of that being said, we suggest taking $10 and spending on it buying and enjoying “The Impolite”.

We’re glad to see that Ground Floor EP Bill Lawrence has pretty great taste when it comes to stand-ups.
