David Cross Set to Go on Nationwide “Making America Great Again!” Tour in 2016

One of the dates will be on the opening night of Riot LA.

It has been quite some time since we’ve seen the force that is David Cross on stage with a mic. In fact, his last tour was all the way back in 2009. Since then, he’s appeared on stage here and there between Arrested Development, Todd Margaret, Hits, With Bob & David, and a multitude of other projects he has been involved in over the last several years.

That being said, he’s going on a tour and doing his duty as a comedian by trolling Donald Trump while he’s at it. Called the Making America Great Again! (which is Donald’s campaign slogan in case you haven’t watched TV or been on the Internet at all in the last few months) tour, Cross will travel across the U.S. and perform from January of next year through April.

Specific dates and cities have yet to be announced, but the one show that you can buy tickets for is the very first night of the Riot LA Comedy Festival on Fri. Jan. 29th at 8PM where David will be playing the Theatre at the Ace Hotel.

The new and improved Super Deluxe is honoring its roots from years ago by featuring some of their original content as Super Deluxe Classics like The Brody Stevens Interview Challenge where Brody not only has to pull off an interview with comedians that he knows, but pull off crazy objectives while doing so as directed by a mysterious, dark being.

Just watch how Brody fares while chatting with Zach Galifianakis and David Cross.

Other Super Deluxe gems that will be featured have yet to be announced, but know that it could be from Eugene Mirman, Jonah Ray, Olde English, Brad Neely, Bob Odenkirk, Maria Bamford, and more.

Plenty of .gifs of both Mr. Show and With Bob and David side by side with the same cast members are going to be made.

Paul F. Tompkins, Brian Posehn, John Ennis, Jay Johnston, Mark Rivers and Dino Stamatopoulos have rejoined Bob Odenkirk and David Cross in their new sketch series With Bob and David at Netflix (that also includes one behind the scenes special).

Going off the idea that Bob and David are ex-Navy SEALs for this new series, it now makes us curious if Paul, Brian, John, Jay, Mark and Dino will also all be ex-Special Forces.

Tickets, Well, Waitlist Tickets Are Available For “With Bob and David” Tapings

Well, it was only announced this morning, so, of course, all the tickets are pretty much taken.

Now that Netflix has ordered four episodes and a special of “With Bob and David”, Bob Odenkirk and David Cross have moved forward with this new sketch show, which will include segments performed in front of a live audience.

Cross announced free tickets for the tapings that take place throughout this month at Andrita Studios. A short time passed before all the tickets were gone, but there is a waitlist if you want to hold out hope that anyone with a ticket might miss out.

There are tapings for With Bob and David on April 15th, 21st, 25th, and 30th.

Good luck if you don’t already have tickets.

To clarify, we’re not exactly clear on how the waitlist will work here, but all TV tapings do have waitlists/standby lines/etc. as they do not want an empty seat in the house. As soon as we know exactly how they’re going about a waitlist, we’ll let you know.

Netflix scores, as far as we’re concerned, big again.

Already, Netflix has brought back Arrested Development, Wet Hot American Summer, and more and will now add to that list the likes of Bob Odenkirk and David Cross doing episodic television for their new show With Bob and David.

As Odenkirk has stated, it’s not going to be Mr. Show, but rather a new and improved sketch show with a lot of the same folks involved.

With Bob and David is currently in production and let’s hope we get to see it sometime later this year.

It’s Not Going To Be a “Mr. Show” Reunion, But Something Still With Bob, David, and The Writers of “Mr. Show”

(via Uproxx/Rolling Stone)

There’s has been plenty of chatter around what could have been a reincarnation of Mr. Show with Bob and David for the last couple of a months now, but, in a recent Rolling Stone interview, Odenkirk offers some clarification in order to simultaneously quell rumors about Mr. Show coming back, but also keep us all excited.

Basically, there will be the same writers, as seen here, and Bob Odenkirk and David Cross will be the stars, but the show itself, as it would seem, will be something brand new and, by our estimation, something potentially even better.

The gathering of the moving parts of Mr. Show now looks like a comedy super group with such likes of Paul F. Tompkins, Scott Aukerman, Brian Posehn, and more all coming back.

Odenkirk himself says, “Better Call Saul is not Breaking Bad, but it’s written by the same writers and you can see connections, right? It hopefully will be quite the same as far as the relationship between the two shows.”

Still, with all of this being said, there are no details as to exactly where this new show will end up or when we can see it. Given Cross’ experiment with Hits, they’re probably exploring every single option online and on TV and maybe even elsewhere before they move forward.

In any case, you still should be excited for what’s happening here.

March is just around the corner, which means The Late Late Show with James Corden is almost set to premiere. In the meantime, the interim period of The Late Late Show is still in effect and, this week, they have very intriguing guests hosts in Thomas Lennon, Lauren Graham and Will Arnett.

Lennon is scheduled for Mon-Wed., Graham on Thurs., and Arnett for Fri.

In addition to their hijinks, Weird Al Yankovic, Natasha Leggero, Nick Kroll, Matthew Perry, Tom Papa, Jimmy Kimmel, John Krasinski, and David Cross are all set to be guests this week too.

Take note that Lennon has voiced Craig Ferguson’s robot skeleton sidekick Geoffrey Peterson at The Late Late Show from time to time and perhaps he’ll do it again.

Find out what happens (two weeks ago, they had the Super Bowl Sharks on) by tuning in to CBS at 12:35AM all week long.

There’s a New Kickstarter Campaign That’s Part of David Cross’ “Hits”, The Great American 1921 Gentlemen’s Box Company

In David Cross’ upcoming Hits, an “organization” by the name of Think Tank Brooklyn led by Donovan McAfferey (James Adomian) seeks to “…challenge the suppressive and convoluted systems set forth by the self-appointed nanny state”. In the movie, that manifests itself by cherrypicking the plight of a disgruntled citizen and making a viral online awareness campaign around him.

So, after the success of the actual Kickstarter campaign for the movie, this Think Tank Brooklyn has “started” a new crowdfunding campaign for The Great American 1921 Gentlemen’s Box Company and they’re looking to raise $10,000,000.

We’ll let McAfferey tell you about the rest.

Help David Cross Truly Independently Release “Hits” in Theaters and as Pay-What-You-Want (Oh, A “Mr. Show” Reunion Is Also Really Happening)

January 7, 2015
Uncategorized

In lieu of a traditional indie film release, David Cross is taking cues from Radiohead and Louis C.K. in order to get his film Hits to fans more directly.

Cross wants to play Hits it in select cities across the country as well as on BitTorrent for a Pay-What-You-Want and also a release on iTunes, etc. To do this, he’s going looking to raise $100K on Kickstarter to do this all on his own and the more money that’s raised, the more cities they can visit.

As you’d expect there are some great rewards for helping crowdfund this experimental film release of David Cross’ Hits. One of them is being in the background of a Mr. Show reunion.

That’s right, Paul F. Tompkins wasn’t deceiving us when he tweeted out this picture on New Year’s Eve and a reunion of David, Bob, Jay Johnston. Scott Aukerman, Paul, and more is indeed happening this year.

Take a Listen to The Actual Finale to David Cross’ Album “It’s Not Funny”

10 years ago, David Cross released a stand-up album by the name of It’s Not Funny and, whether you were aware of it or not, the final track on the album was not the actual finale to the live performance that was recorded.

Now, Cross has released the finale that was cut from the album by Sub Pop called “Clapping in the USA” via The Comedian’s Comedian Podcast with Stuart Goldsmith.

While it’s a bit of an incendiary track to be sure in the way it satirizes Christianity and country music, no one would be surprised that this would ever be the close to an hour of stand-up from David Cross, leaving all of us slightly confused why it would be left off the album.

Luckily, we get to all hear and enjoy it now.

It might just be a coincidence that Keegan Michael-Key and Jordan Peele started were tapped to guest edit this latest issue of Entertainment Weekly that just so happens to be their Comedy Issue. Either way, it sounds like they’ve rustled up plenty of great stuff like an interview with Bob Odenkirk and David Cross as well as a blind date with Chelsea Peretti and Ike Barinholtz.

Before you go to pick this up, this issue hits newsstands on Fri.

There’s a Sundance Film Festival in London Featuring Many of The Great Indie Comedies From U.S. Sundance

Since 2012, there has been a Sundance Film Festival in London that brings many of the films discovered in Park City, UT at the flagship Sundance Film Festival.

As there is a lack of exposure of our own indie films in general here in the States, there’s definitely a lack of exposure over in the U.K. That’s why, if you’re in London are going to be there in late April, maybe you can check out, catch, discover the likes of David Cross’ Hits, Frank with Michael Fassbender, They Came Together with Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler, Obvious Child with Jenny Slate, The Trip to Italy with Steve Coogan and Michael Winterbottom, and plenty of other indie comedies that made their U.S. festival debut earlier this year in Jan.

David Cross Cast as Dead Boss on Fox’s ‘Dead Boss’ Pilot

As David Cross has played Todd Margaret in The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret that was set in the UK, he’ll almost do the flip of that as he will play a horrible boss that’s mysteriously dead in the U.S. (based off a series in the UK of the same name).
