A couple of months ago, we caught wind of the awesome podcast collective known as Feral Audio recording a live album featuring performances from the various hosts of their shows.

Today, we’re more than happy to not only find that the album Feral Audio LIVE has come out, but that it’s also available as a special so you can watch what went down at Nerdmelt several weeks ago.

So, don’t waste any more time reading this and get to listening and/or watching Feral Audio LIVE that indeed brings Dan Harmon, Steve Agee, Little Esther/Esther Povitsky, Duncan Trussell, Brody Stevens, John Roy, and more all together.

The latest day/episode of Comedy Central’s experiment of Comedians Crashing Couches where Nikki Glaser stays at the place of a bunch young people has led to a friendly football game.

Unfortunately, Nikki has volunteered to play without knowing too many of the rules and has recruited Emmy Blotnick, Henry Phillips, Brody Stevens, and Chris Fairbanks in a button down to play against one of her current roommates.

Watch it all go down here while you take a break from possibly watching pro football.

To our knowledge, no podcast network has gone to record a live album of its roster of podcasts.

That’s all changing next month as Feral Audio is taking Dan Harmon, Steve Agee, Johnny Pemberton, John Roy, Erin McGathy, Brody Stevens, Matt Dwyer, Little Esther Povitsky, Melissa Stephens, Duncan Trussell, and more to the Nerdmelt Showroom to do exactly that.

Podcast history is going to be made on August 5th 9PM and you should get your tickets now.

Brody Stevens on Brody Stevens on Push and Believe with Brody Stevens

CC:Studios’ Push and Believe with Brody Stevens was released earlier this year in tandem with their half hour specials.

One episode that didn’t get release until now was one with Brody Stevens and Brody Stevens. That wasn’t a typo. Brody interviews himself on his own show, which actually seems normal and, of course, hilarious and perfect for his series airing now on Comedy Central on Sunday nights, Enjoy It!

Watch Brody and Brody here.

‘Brody Stevens: Enjoy It’ to Premiere on Comedy Central December 1st

This means that Brody Stevens will have two shows going at the same time with his new show at VPN, Positive Push, and his original digital series at HBO that now has transitioned into a full fledged TV show, Brody Stevens: Enjoy It on Comedy Central starting next month.

Even with all of that, Brody has still managed to do around 2500 warm up performances for shows, which we can only attribute to #positiveenergy.

Brody Stevens Has a Brand New Show ‘Positive Push’ on VPN

It’s more positive energy in a different medium coming from the one and only Brody Stevens now available on The Video Podcast Network in a new show ‘Positive Push’.

We can only imagine the show being Brody doing what he wants by pushing positive energy into wherever he is and also us checking it out. Episodes drop on Tuesdays at noon, then are available on YouTube afterwards.

Honestly, this might be one of the biggest comedy tours in recent memory so don’t miss out if you get a chance to see it (tickets are on sale now by the way).

1) Yet another venue for comedy is opening up as other rooms have shut down: Dangerfield’s II in Silverlake, according to their Facebook page, is an intimate setting to work on new routines and ideas for comedians. There will be 4 performances a week including open mics and monthly podcasts. Although we at Dangerfield’s II will be booking most of the shows, we encourage performers to approach us with their show ideas. If you have an idea for a theme night, sketch show, performance art, or musical comedy, please contact us to see if we can work together. All shows are free with a requested $5 donation as we rely on these donations to keep the studio up and running.

More details here.

2) At 10:07AM PST, @allthingsbrody tweeted “Once the desire to pitch and drum returns, you’ll soon be able to see my brand of humor on the horizon. Oh, and yes, I’ll be podcasting.” Good to hear as well as seeing him tweeting right back at his usual speed.  Can’t wait to see him take the stage again.

3) National Lampoon weighs in on the Katt Williams incident.

4) Baron Vaughn’s album “Raised by Cable” on AST Records drops this Tues. 9/6, but you can pre-order it right now.

Going off of their definition of relevant, “…having a connection with your audience,” it’s a decent list with Louis C.K., Aziz Ansari, Daniel Tosh, Donald Glover, Whitney Cummings, and more.  However, there are incredibly notable omissions: Doug Stanhope, Paul F. Tompkins, Chelsea Handler, Chris Hardwick, and Marc Maron.

4) Nerve.com lists five young comedians who should be movie stars. Yeah, we’d like to see Jamie Lee, Hannibal Buress, John Mulaney and Morgan Murphy in a bank heist movie.

Hamclown: The One Type of Clown I Like

May 26, 2011
Uncategorized
alexandria hotel, brody stevens, comedy scene, comedy shows, independent, jackie kashian, kyle kinane, los angeles, maria bamford, recap, review, rory scovel

What exactly is a “Hamclown”?  I was one of those silent many that had an aversion to clown, but Hamclown is something different altogether and certainly not to be feared by anybody.

If you type “hamclown” into Google, you’ll actually get redirected to results for “ham clown” and never see any of the results for the amazing comedy and music variety show taking place in downtown LA on 5th and Spring.

Instead, you’ll first be directed to hamsexy.com, which, as far as I can gather, is a blog about amateur radio.  Even though hamsexy.com has been around for much longer than Hamclown, the results for googling “hamclown” need to change.

On the last Thursday of every month, producers and talented stand-up comedians themselves Josh Androsky and Grant Pardee take over the 2nd Floor of the Alexandria Hotel, more commonly known as the Mezz.  Their comedy extravaganza features several of LA’s best stand-ups, Kyle Kinane, Rory Scovel, Brody Stevens, Maria Bamford, and more, sketch comedy that borders on a full scale stage production, and amazing local bands to close out the show.

Really, Hamclown goes above and beyond for laughter from their constantly growing audience. At the last edition of Hamclown, Androsky and Pardee went for a prom theme, temporarily renaming their show “Hamprom”, dressing up as if it was actually prom; Androsky wore a dress and heels.  They even had a prom photographer with a prom backdrop.  As if that wasn’t enough, Androsky went into a spectacular musical number while still in a dress and heels featuring back-up dancers and lots of goo in which he let out his inner woman and then wooed the “hot high school quarterback” (played by Aaron Alberstein).

I would almost say that you get your bang for your buck at Hamclown, but that would be a false statement as you don’t spend anything to see this youthful comedic romp in a cool bohemian space that has to have been used in several rock music videos of either Lenny Kravitz or Perry Farrell.  It’s free of charge just like many independently produced comedys shows around LA are, but, already, Hamclown has been mentioned in the LA Times as part of a story about the exciting group of comedy shows taking place in Downtown.

If you’re convinced or curious, the next Hamclown is taking place tomorrow 9PM, as mentioned, at the Mezz on the 2nd Floor of the Alexandria Hotel, 501 S. Spring St., Los Angeles, CA featuring two of the Comedy Bureau’s favorite comedians: Ron Lynch and Jackie Kashian.  In other words, be there (you won’t be square if you don’t, but you’ll regret your absence).  Follow them on Twitter and Facebook or check back at the Comedy Bureau for more updates and possibly what exactly a “hamclown” is other than a hip, hilarous comedy circus minus the animals and clowns (not a big fan of either anyway).

1) For those open mic connoiseurs, the iCandy open mic along with the accompanying Kerry Arnold Stevens Comedy Etc. Show actually achieves a rare feat by leaving you FEELING ACTUALLY GOOD after you leave as opposed to most open mics where you feel DEAD INSIDE after waiting over 2 hours for 5 minutes or less of unavoidable bombing.  With an intimate set-up, a prize raffle, and a great host in veteran Long Beach comedian Shayne Michael, iCandy open mic/K.A.S. Comedy Etc. Show is definitely worth it.  Every Friday, starting at 7PM, K.A.S. Comedy Etc. Show at 8PM w/open mic continuing after.

2) The Comedy Crawl for tonight (if you can physically be in multiple places at one time): Space Boners Halloween Show: Ogre Mage Debut @ Silverlake Lounge at 7PM FREE w/costume contest and $1 sword raffle, then An Evening with Brody Stevens @ the Hollywood Improv w/Brody Stevens, Howard Kremer, and Rory Scovel $18 and 2 item min., then Robot Seizure @ The Attic Theatre 8PM FREE w/one drink min., then, simultaneously, From the Crypt: A Retro Horror Revue @ the UCB Theatre $5 AND Tomorrow w/ Ron Lynch presents “You Only Live Twice” @ The Steve Allen Theater $8.

3) Coming soon to the Comedy Bureau: “Bureau Approved” L.A. Open Mic Map/Calendar & expanded and infinitely more detailed Greater LA Comedy Landscape.

4) Again, remember, remember, the 9th of November…  Señor Fish in Little Tokyo is going to have a brand new open mic and, in case you haven’t guessed, I’m running it. So far, I’m going to raffle off 2, count’em just like a car salesman, 2 “15 minute drop-in spots” for the following week.  Pretty good, right?  NO!! 15 MINUTES IN LA IS F’N GOLD!!!  Again more details coming soon.
