Line-up/Tickets for 6th Annual Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival

We’ve been quite fortunate with the wave of comedy festivals coming on this side of country over the next several months, not to mention the plethora of comedy nightly here in LA. However, if you’re closer to the Atlantic than the Pacific, you might want to check out Eugene Mirman’s comedy festival now going on its 6th year.

At the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival will be Kristen Schaal, Jim Gaffigan, Ira Glass, Wyatt Cenac, Jon Benjamin, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Michael Che, Kurt Braunohler, Leo Allen, Jena Friedman, Dan St. Germain, and many more doing shows with such fun titles as The Urbane Comedy Hour: Non-Stop Courtesy and Culture Through the Prism of Comedy.

The festival runs Sept. 26th-29th in Brooklyn and you can get your tickets at the link.

At 11:59PM tonight on Comedy Central, Greg Fitzsimmons’ first 1 hour special, Life on Stage, will make its television premiere. That leaves plenty of time for you to watch Breaking Bad, process it, discuss it, and then catch what will be a damn funny guy doing an hour of stand-up.

That sounds like a pretty great Sunday night to us.

Bo Burnham Going on Tour and Taping a Special

Just because his under appreciated series Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous got cancelled by MTV, the wonderful Bo Burnham isn’t going to stop in comedy.

He’s currently working on a book of poetry and is now adding more dates to his current tour and comedy special taping on Sept. 20th in San Francisco, of which tickets will be available soon.

Perhaps, another TV show will come of all of this?

Check Out a Completely New Funny or Die

On this very morning, Funny or Die has just redone their entire website. It’s cleaner, sleeker, more user friendly, but filled with all the same content you’ve come to know, love, or possibly want to die at Funny or Die. Also, there’s a brand new logo that’s also cleaner and sleeker.

Guess Funny or Die got tired of waiting for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to do a website?

The Cover of Prince’s New Single Comes Straight From a Chappelle’s Show Sketch

We can’t help but think that Dave Chappelle or someone close to him had to ask, “Wouldn’t it be great if we do this sketch of Prince and then he puts it on an album cover?”

Well, if that’s true, then that dream just became reality with the cover of Prince’s latest single, “Breakfast Can Wait”.

Another U.S. Military Branch Gets Mad at Another Comedian For Apparently Going Too Blue

August 19, 2013

controversy, mitch fatel, us air force

Somehow, it’s a trend that comedians go on USO tours, perform for the Armed Forces around the world and are given some ridiculous parameters, which they sometimes end up ignoring when it’s clear that the troops don’t want to hear comedy run through too many censors. You can get a good sense of that if you’ve ever observed a military barracks or a mess hall and see servicemen and servicewomen joking around and that’s usually why that comedians that sense that they can go blue and do, pretty much get big laughs.

A U.S. Air Force Colonel has just called out comedian Mitch Fatel of one performance at a base in the UK for offensive material, though, according to Fatel, his shows were billed with “adult themes” and had great audiences responses.

Looks like the U.S. Air Force didn’t read Jackie Kashian’s Guide to Hiring a Comedian For Your Function.

“The Cracked Podcast” will feature in depth chats between Cracked editors once a month with smaller episodes in the weeks between.

We’d be curious to see how many episodes will be arguments regarding the best/worst animals.

This Better Be Funny Podcast: This Better Be Funny Ep. 82 Despicable Edition with Sean O’Connor

Another episode of This Better Be Funny mini-series “Despicable Edition”where we have a guest square off with co-host Jeremy Paul, who admitted to basically being a baby boxing promoter, in a “despicable/embarrassing story off” is here. This week, Sean O’Connor (Conan), a man who told off Bon Jovi, who has a pretty formidable tale in one of the worst girlfriends ever by virtue of the fact that she tried to frame him for a felony.

Listen to how Sean survived that, what Jeremy will admit to from his past, what story wins based off Jake’s decision/possible bias against his co-host, and if Sean wins a cassette tape of David Gray (Yep, that’s what he was playing for).

It just came out today and you can still get commemorative shirts, towels, and double dongs right here.

Patton Oswalt, Bob Odenkirk And Ian Roberts Join Horror/Coming of Age/Comedy ‘Kitchen Sink’

Apparently, this monster filled comedy set in a high school, “Kitchen Sink”, already has an amazing cast in Josh Fadem, Keegan Michael Key, and Joan Cusack and now has just added the likes of Patton Oswalt, Bob Odenkirk, and Ian Roberts.

With that mashing of genres and this cast, the set photos of this film alone should be both hilarious and great.

Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa Possibly Coming Stateside Next Year

Magnolia Pictures has just acquired Steve Coogan vehicle “Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa” (and we hope that you’re familiar with Steve Coogan and/or his radio DJ character Alan Partridge; if not, fix that now please). Not to mention that Veep’s own Armando Ianucci as well as Coogan are writers on the movie, you should get all excited for a potential 2014 release.

Here’s the trailer for Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa by the way if you haven’t seen it yet.

Yahoo! Comedy has been quietly working on and amassing some pretty great web content for some time as they are about to roll out 8 new web series next month.
