Support Lee Camp’s Kickstarter for Moment of Clarity

April 14, 2013

Comedian Lee Camp, whose album Pepper Spray the Tears Away you should hear if you haven’t already, has had a long running web series he’s done on his own for a long time, Moment of Clarity, featuring his firebrand style of comedy, that now needs help on Kickstarter. Camp is both very funny and has found his way to dig into divisive issues such as politics and religion in a way to make people laugh first, then think.

Watch the Kickstarter video and hopefully donate here.

Luckily, both crossed paths in this clip, which you should watch now, of Androsky telling the story at Picture This.

Brody Stevens’ “Enjoy It” Coming to Comedy Central with More and Longer Episodes

The great behind the curtain series of Brody Stevens, Enjoy It, had a great run at HBO and now will have another go at Comedy Central. If you weren’t lucky enough to have an HBO subscription to see it on HBO GO, then do not miss it this time around.

Also, according to a source of ours, this is only the start of the good Brody news this week. #POSITIVE ENERGY

South Park along with Comedy Central Records are joining in on Record Store Day on Apr. 20th, a day encouraging music listeners to actually go to a real record store to buy their music, by releasing a vinyl record featuring two songs from the show, “San Diego” and “Gay Fish”.

Of course, these are two things that we are very in support of, so make sure you go to a participating store and pick this limited edition 7-inch then play it on repeat.

Called ‘Push and Believe’, it’s more of the Brody we all have come to know, love, and laugh about. For instance, this first episode has Brody and the very funny Dan Soder feeding each other donuts in a hotel room and talking sports.

Told you we had more good Brody news this week.

This Better Be Funny Ep. 68 with Jesse Case

This Better Be Funny

One of the LA comedy scene’s funniest, Jesse Case, riffs with Jake and Jeremy going through basically getting a pink slip from the tribe if you’re not Native American enough, the vast population of homeless people in Vancouver possibly due to the lack of prophylactics during the last Olympics, and a story where Jake saves a girl from being raped. Don’t mind the music playing in the background at Best Fish Taco in Ensenada where they recorded, just listen to how they’ll dig the funny out of all of that. Oh yeah, just for your reference, the pop star that has staffed glitter wrangler mentioned at the beginning of this episode is Ke$ha.

Whenever tragedy strikes, it’s a confounding position for all of comedy whether to address it or not and, if so addressing it, how to go about it. Many off-color, disgusting jokes are made, but it’s all out of this need to cope, to relate, a need for levity.

Fortunately, there are comedians like Stephen Colbert who know how to just comedically address such a thing as the tragedy at the Boston Marathon.

Watch him do so on the opening of last night’s Colbert Report.
