NYTVF – COMEDY CENTRAL SHORT PILOT COMPETITION IS NOW ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS!

comedycentral:

The New York Television Festival and Comedy Central have teamed up to offer aspiring TV writers and producers the opportunity to win $7,500 and a development deal with Comedy Central!

Comedy Central is looking for fun, fresh points of view that fit into the Comedy Central brand of comedy. The following scripted-comedy formats would apply: sketch, narrative/single-camera sitcom, animated and “late night” comedy (game shows, panel shows, etc.). Non-scripted formats are not applicable for this competition, regardless of hilarity. The competition is FREE to enter.

This is happening. Tomorrow. 6:00PM. On the steps of City Hall. @jimmy_dore @bobducca @pauljaycomic @oldmanweldon AND SURPRISE DROP-INS!

Even if this wasn’t a show in support of OccupyLA, it would be amazing. That’s why you have all the more reason to go…

1) OK, SNL… if you’re having Charlie Day host (Nov. 5th), we’ll put aside my apathy to watch. And to answer you’re immediate question about how why that is, we’re a bunch of grumpy old people.

2) This is happening very soon and we’re very excited. (NOTE: we’re referring to the release of Andrés Du Bouchet’s album “Naked Trampoline Hamlet”, not Andrés holding things in his mouth on a routine basis)

Coming from a lover of comedy, knowing the insides and outs of the comedy world I’m assuming, and knowing comedians personally. Is it wrong that I just sold my Xbox for weed? I write the best jokes when I’m baked

October 21, 2011
Uncategorized

Writing isn’t a state of mind. It’s an action and like any action, the more you do it, the better you become.

Granted, the artistic expressiveness of writing, especially when it comes to writing jokes, bits, etc. leaves for a huge area of subjectivity as to what’s bad, good, or the best, but the best joke writers we know are writing all the time regardless of whether they are high, drunk, sober, depressed, manic, or have to rudely stop a conversation to jot something down. Even if what they write ends up staying written and never to be said because of how stupid it is, they feel worst altogether if they don’t write.

With all of that being said, in selling your Xbox for weed, you did get rid of a major distraction.

‘Who IS indie?’ – Lana Del Rey

jennylsq:

Before this, did you ever concern yourself with indie rock?

No. Hey, honey, I would have loved to be part of the indie community. But I wasn’t. I was looking for a community. I don’t even know any people who are musicians. I never met that indie popular indie, whoever the fuck that is. Who IS indie? First of all, I can’t really get my head around what indie music is. Because if you’ve heard of it, it’s sort of pop music, right? Because it’s, like, popular? Or is it just that it’s not on the radio? It’s not like I was in an indie community and then I blew up. It’s like, I was living on the street and I’m not — like, for real, you know what I’m saying?

Replace “indie music” with “alternative comedy” and think.

Also, listen to Lana Del Ray while doing it (yeah, I know, a non-comedy related suggestion. How could that ever happen? Well, ya think we just silently type in a cellar all day?).
